Idolized to Liked[]

I have completed all of the quests for Followers of the Apocalypse and Caesar's Legion (except Veni Vidi Vici) and it came up with Idolized for FotA and probably did for the Legion but I'm still only liked by both of them. Anybody know why? Vulpes Furtiva 14:11, June 5, 2011 (UTC)

Sub-Categories Suggestion[]

I did some checking to see if anyone's thought to do this yet (picked through the various faction articles as well) and discovered that there weren't any pages that had a comprehensive list of the reputations between the factions themselves. If I got it started would there be interest in contributing, or should it just be added on to this page? Dog Thing 02:20, December 3, 2010 (UTC)

Confusion[]

Does this mean that you lose reputation if you're caught harming the town, or does stealing items/killing somebody lower your reputation even if you do so undetected? Sir Jcd 13:16, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

From what I've seen, it's only if you're caught. I've stealth-killed NCR Rangers for their armor, meaning I should be automatically Vilified, but my rep didn't change, just karma Munin088 17:52, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

As long as you don't get caught you can do whatever you want without having your reputation affected, and if you make a mistake, you will be notified about any reputation change imediatly.216.250.10.130 01:07, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

Recovery[]

Any way to have a faction like you again, or at least neutral, after becoming hated, shunned or vilified? Followed House's orders like a sheepdog 'til he told me to kill the Brotherhood (joined 'em and killed him), but the damage was done with the NCR by then. Just would be good to check 'em out, is all. LordSchmee 18:42, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

I have the exace same situation. Once he said to kill the brotherhood, I was out. I have been trying everything to gain my rep with the NCR back but so far it hasn't budged off of "wild child", depite having numerous times told me that I have "gained fame" with them. Anonymous 2:58, October, 31, 2010

Once you get to Wild Child, there's no way out. See the new table I put on the article. No amount of positive will ever get rid of your 30+ negative rep, and so there's no way out of that category. 98.212.197.213 19:47, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Don't know about that, could be a glitch or a game feature, but after some time passed my NCR rep changed from Mixed to Accepted (almost did not encounter them after I got Mixed rep, just some time passed after it and rep restored). --Ae jarv 22:36, December 25, 2010 (UTC)

That can happen if you saved President Kimball, since your reputation is automatically reset to accepted. At least that happened to me when I helped Yes Man (independent Vegas). --Thek826 20:37, January 18, 2011 (UTC)

I found a glitch, if you wear white glove attire and mask then switch your clothing to a different faction then switch back your reputation with the Legion and the NCR changes when you take return to your regular clothes. The first time I did it I went from Villified to Wild Child with NCR and the second time both NCR and the legion jumped back to Neutral. 3/30/11

Any "bad" rep you have with the Legion will be reset when, after you confront Benny and exit The Tops Casino, you are given "Caesar's Mark" by Vulpes Inculta... bad rep from NCR will be errased when you agree to work for NCR Ambassador Dennis Crocker, you get an invitation to meet with him when you exit the Lucky 38 for the first time (but you don't have to go see him right away)...by way of example, I was idolized by both Legion and NCR, then i nuked 'em at end of Lonesome road, and I activated Archimedes II and, killed of all legion at Cottonwood Cove & Nelson and committed other miscellaneous atrocities against both just for the fun of it, only after reeking havoc against NCR and Legion did I confront Benny and then see Crocker, all was forgiven and I was idolized again.--TuskNB 20:00, December 26, 2011 (UTC)

reputation loss?[]

I keep completing quest for the ncr thus making my reutation rise, but then i complete some other quests (not those of the legion)and suddenly my reputation drops to neutral without any notification of any kind. what caueses this to happen?

same things been happening to me. its really pissing me off. anyone know why this is happening or how to fix this? i figured it out now. your probably wearing ncr faction armor. put on a different outfit. i know, i know, i want to be dressed in ncr clothing too, but in the long run your better off not.

Confused About Reputation Loss[]

I went from being a Smiling Troublemaker to Wild Child with the NCR somewhere between finishing Return to Sender and Beyond the Beef. With Return to Sender, I chose to turn Hanlon in, which I didn't think would give me any bad karma. With Beyond the Beef, I picked the good karma option by basically doing what the entry says for "the clean run with good karma". I haven't killed any NCR troops, at no point in the game have any NCR members been hostile to me, and I honestly can't figure out how I have the "best of the worst" karma rating with them. Does anyone here have any ideas/suggestions? I'm just curious at this point, since I know I won't be able to undo this karmic harm. DeathclawHugger 20:44, November 10, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I think you encountered the same problem I did. There's some sort of bug with the White Glove Society clothing (which I'm guessing you must have equipped during "Beyond the Beef") that alters your reputation with certain factions (NCR among them).

Kill Benny At The Fort?[]

My reputation with Caesar's Legion is Vilified and I need to kill Benny and get the platinum chip at the fort. I cant do it though because of those dogs and Legionaries. I tried to use a disguise but I cant talk to ceaser to kill Benny. I also cant just gun Benny down due to the fact I cant bring in guns and I really don't want to have to kill pretty much everyone there. Can anyone help me out? --[Pepsilova141414] 00:56, November 13, 2010 (UTC)

Killing guard who confiscates weapons at entrance to fort will allow you to keep all your weapons on subsequent visits...also you can "sneak kill" dogs and others with "holdout weapons"...or use "stealth Boy' to sneak into Caesar's Tent and exterminate who you need to. --TuskNB 20:06, December 26, 2011 (UTC)

Bug[]

My reputaiton keeps flutcuating, ever time i kill a legion member, my legion rep goes to shuned, then to hated, and to villified, and my NCR rep resets to Neutral. And i think it's also messing with how i get rep, as, after it reset the first time, i did Three Card Bounty, Hard Luck Blues, I put a spell on you,Restoring Hope,There Stands the grass and the one were you get betsy to go to the doctor. All of them get me NCR fame, but then i went to Vault 3, helped ranger andy kill moter runner, and BOOM. i go from nuetral to idolized in one quest. then, on the way to camp searchlite, i kill a legion assasion squad. Three messeges pop up "You Are now Hated by the legion" "You are now shunned by the legion" "you are now vilified by the legion" And my NCR Rep resets back to nuetral, for whatever reason. it's not the glitch were you change armor and that resets your factions, because this happend at least an hour after i had Changed armour last, from NCR ranger Patrole to Benny's Suit and back I'm playing on XBOX--JoeHanSon 04:21, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

ok, false alarm, the reset with NCR WAS from the armor,i guess i'll just have to live without my +5 barter when selling shit, but that still doesn't explain my Legion fluxuation.JoeHanSon 22:59, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

Another Bug?[]

I sided with the Legion during the story and my NCR reputation had dropped to 'Vilified'. I went to the Mojave Outpost and killed all the NCR soldiers there, and once I'd killed the last soldier, my rep. somehow rose to 'Shunned'. Is this a bug and has this happened to anyone else? (Also, equipping NCR armor (more specifically, the veteran armor minus the helmet) makes my reputation 'Neutral' and everyone inside McCarran except Curtis is friendly, as soon as I unequip it, everyone is hostile, yet another bug?)

ValoR

Forever Neutral[]

After many quests done for NCR and Freeside somehow my rep with them never changed (neutral), but Red Rock, Goodspring, Legion rep are all changing in accordance to quest done with those communities. I was "naked" while questing for NCR, but I wear Brotherhood armor while questing for Freeside and most every other communities that don't shoot Brotherhood on sight. Can't figure out what's going on... My general karma/rep is also stuck at neutral.

28/11/2010 (PS3): Same here. I thought it was normal at first, but saw a video on you tube with someone gaining reputation. This should be noted somewhere, seeing as it obviously effects other players too.

Same here, I did a lot of quests, and belped the NCR alot and it won't raise. Does anyone know what tbe YouTube video is called?

At any point did you equip NCR armor, you might be glitched or still wearing the armor.

White Glove Society Attire Rep Bug?[]

I posted this in the talk section of the attire as well. It seems that whenever I equip and unequip White Glove Society Attire, it boosts my reputation with the NCR, the Powder Gangers, and the Brotherhood (it might affect more factions but a few of them already idolized me so I can't tell. Doesn't seem to affect Freeside, the Legion, or Goodsprings from what I can see). Just the act of putting it on and taking it off again does this. I went from "neutral" to "idolized" with the NCR after equipping/unequipping it like, three or four times. Can anyone else test this? I'm playing on xbox.174.0.106.101 23:41, November 23, 2010 (UTC)

  • Had this too, affected Brotherhood, Legion, Powder gang and the Strip. Did not work with Freeside and Goodsprings. PC. Ae jarv 08:52, January 2, 2011 (UTC)
Me too, and I also posted the info on that page. In short, the game was "removing" my White Glove disguise even though I was only wearing one of the two things required, which seemed to re-add my rep values without having removed them in the first place. I didn't have any bad rep with a faction that wasn't already Vilified, so I can't say for sure if it affects good and bad rep. Affected all factions I had discovered that are affected by the White Glove Society disguise (Great Khans, NCR, and Powder Gangers; not Boomers, Followers, Freeside, Goodsprings, Novac, or The Strip). LeDaea 04:29, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

I had the exact same issue. I beleive it has to do with how you need both the attire AND mask to become disguised, but then removing either removes the disguise. Whilst another item disguising you is equipped and some script doesn't remove the disguise for either item. Wearing neutral armour and manually through the console setting your reputations to what they were was the only way I could find to make this work, but I know many folks don't want to mess with the console. Each faction has their own thresholds for levels of reputation. NCR Idolizes you at 70+ points, the Brother hood at 20, Goodsprings at 15 and so forth, same for their negative reps, so you'll need to set infamy to 0 and set fame to whatever youwant to get out of a mixe status. I hope I don't get any messed up triggers down the line. We need to find a more subtle solution if there is one, besides "Just don't wear te attire", since its close to required to do that quest orderly. 2.121.208.132 00:47, May 18, 2015 (UTC)

Apparently confused NCR MP[]

I'm not sure how major this would be as a bug because I don't know if any other NPCs will do the same thing yet, but I have positive (Liked to Idolized) reputation with every possible faction (and Sneering Punk with the Powder Gangers). I'm "liked" by the NCR, and went into Michael Angelo's place to see if I could find him. There was a random NCR MP there and he ran up to me and started a dialogue as if I have negative reputation with them (even to the point of noting that we were currently outside New Vegas - which we were not - and calling me a punk), then tried to kill me. I let Veronica kill him so I didn't gain any infamy but I really hope no one else in the NCR bugs like this because I'm trying to go through the game on their side. Take 1ne 00:10, November 26, 2010 (UTC)

EDIT: Upon further investigation, it seems that my reputation with the NCR is unaffected and no one else in the NCR wants to randomly kill me, which is probably even stranger.

MP are part of the Strip Security. Your reputation is likely bad with them. I just payed them off so I didn't need to fight.

I actually don't have negative reputation with a single faction or town, so that isn't the problem. Take 1ne 16:28, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Faction Armor - Percentage?[]

Is it possible that wearing faction armor will not so much "hide" your true rep, but make it a fraction of what it actually is? I was "Accepted" with the Legion before doing the first part of Restoring Hope with the supplies. I decided to wear NCR armor so not to take a hit. After killing the Legionaries, my rep with NCR was "Hated" and when I went back to my normal armor, I was at "Sneering Punk". So, something tells me your true rep is still in there. +DannyShotgun 05:55, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

Brotherhood Reputation[]

I have done the still in the dark quest, eyesight to the blind, Veronica's quest and even the unmarked missing laser pistol quest, but my reputation wont go higher than "liked". Is there any quest missing? Or is there any other way, to gain reputation with the brotherhood? Ps: i gave ED-E to the Followers....

  • I have the same problem except I gave ED-E to the Brotherhood of Steel. I cannot -on any file- get the brotherhood above "liked."

There is a mission for a scribe to isolate a computer virus and that got me idolized with them.--Ohnoitsthecopz :) 00:07, February 16, 2011 (UTC)

Same issue here. I've done everything I can think of, but reputation is still "Liked". This includes finding the gun, isolate the computer virus and giving them ED-E. http://imageshack.us/m/15/6929/luckmanngrenadesignatur.png Luckmann 19:51, June 2, 2011 (UTC)

Something in one of the last couple of updates must have changed because I know I had Idolized for the BoS in my first few playthroughs but my last two I cant get above liked. Can we get some conformation on what causes this? Is it a bug or are you just not able to get more than liked now? Was getting idolized a bug in the past? ReapTheChaos 06:22, June 9, 2011 (UTC)

You get Idolized with the Brotherhood of Steel when finishing Lonesome Road choosing the Divide Survivor path. Not sure if this only is enough to get from Neutral to Idolized, but being Liked by doing Still in the Dark first set me to Idolized after finishing Lonesome Road. Beside Divide Survivor, only Still in the Dark and Missing laser pistol provide you with BoS reputation, nothing else does. Tested several times. --Vladimir-Lem 21:54, September 27, 2011 (UTC)

I have completed Still In the Dark, Pistol Packing (the missing Laser Pistol unmarked quest), and isolated the computer virus. Just completed Still In The Dark last night and it brought me to Idolized. That was the first time I have ever completed that quest while playing this game. Then, I deleted my save and played from an hour and a half back because I leveled up to 28 during that time and did not like my perk choice at that time (Rad Absorption). Got back to that point and leveled back up to 28 on the way, this time I chose Irradiated Beauty (which is added by Lonesome Road). Reached level 28, turned in Still In the Dark to McNamara and this time it only raised me to Liked. I have not yet completed I Could Make You Care or ED-E My Love and have not started Lonesome Road. Could picking a Lonesome Road perk have jacked me up? Or is the whole BoS rep thing glitched? Hope this helps. 24.182.226.27 00:46, March 5, 2012 (UTC)

Major Faction Pardons[]

I hear talk of quests from the NCR and the Legion or some other way to be granted a pardon of all previous crimes. I heard that the NCR's is at the embassy at the strip. Does anyone know how to get these pardons or the specific quests they are derived from?

  • These pardons occur when a trooper (from NCR) or Vulpes Inculta disguised as a gambler (from Legion) come to you on the Strip. the trigger for this is the ending of the 'neutral' main quests and coming to the 'finish line' of the game. These events allow you to come to Ambassador Crocker at the NCR embassy or Caesar at the Fort thus letting you begin the endgame quests for any side despite your previous reputation.

If I have a good reputation with the NCR will the pardon put me back at neutral?

No. Only resets infamy, not fame.

NCR rep. resetting to Neutral with Ranger Combat Armor equipped?[]

Without the Ranger Combat Armor I am 'Liked' by the NCR. With it I'm 'Neutral' with the NCR. How does that work? Do any increases in Reputation with any faction still apply even while I'm wearing an NCR disguise?

  • Question 1: It sets your reputation with the NCR to Neutral while you are wearing it, but, since you are dressed as a member, it allows some things you would only otherwise achieve with 'Idolized', like the monorail at McCarran. Question 2: yes.

Bug with disguise clothing[]

I think i might have found the exact condition when the bug occurs and the game does not register the clothes/armor of a faction being taken off. The White Glove Society disguise consists of two items — the 'attire' and the mask, and if body clothing is switched to any other faction's disguise without the mask taken off, the game says 'You are now dressed as the member of...' but does not say 'You are no longer dressed as the member of the White Glove Society'. after the mask is taken off the latter message appears, but actually relations are not restored to normal ones. The bug happened to me quite a lot of times in this situation but never did with other faction clothes. Ae jarv 08:33, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

I can confirm that. And you actually don't even have to switch to any other faction clothing for this glitch to occur. Simply do the following in this order:
1) Equip the White Glove Society Attire
2) Equip the White Glove Society Mask
3) Remove the mask
4) Equip the mask again
5) Remove the mask again
6) Remove the attire
Now check your reputations list. The above should have removed all but the Boomers, Novac, Goodsprings, The Strip, Freeside, and the Followers from your list, and you should now be neutral with the other factions no longer appearing on your list (NCR, Brotherhood, White Glove, Legion, Powder Gangers, Great Khans).174.0.106.101 09:44, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Any chance for a fix for this glitch?

This may be redundant, but the above is true. I, too, wish desperately for a fix. ---108.69.86.172

This may actually may be helpful to get rid of the Wild Child rep w/ legion G Rauch (not signed in)

Rep Bug?[]

For some reason my reputation with different groups is changing for no reason,I have been changed from Accepted to Good natured rascal to Dark hero with Caesars legion and Powder gangers in the past several days,I also was changed from vilified to merciful thug with the NCR. I do not understand why, does anyone else have any idea why?

I think it's a bug with the latest patch(early-mid December patch). In my current game the Great Khans have me at Wild Child, yet the only thing I did to them negatively was killing the Khan in the quest where he was shooting people at Bitter Springs. I've done all the positive reputation stuff for them and was at smiling troublemaker or good-natured rascal till recently when I went to Red Rock Canyon to try to get them from siding with the Legion. Now I can't even talk to Papa Khan about NCR/Legion relations for the quest Oh my Papa.
In my last play-through, I had the same problem with NCR. The only thing negative thing I did was killing the troopers at Helios One for my C-finder charge. I was at smiling troublemaker for most of the game then it randomly switched to dark hero at some point.
For some reason it seems like once you get any negative rep with a faction, by the end of the game you are max'd negative rep with them. At least that's how my last 2 games were. There's something fishy is going on. 206.251.11.85 17:25, January 28, 2011 (UTC)

Reset factions rep[]

Brotherhood of Steel, Caesar's Legion, Great Khans, NCR, Powder Gangers and the White Glove Society reps have all dissapeared from my pip-boy. Its now saying that they are all neutral. I think it has something to do with the white glove society's faction clothing but im not sure. Is there any fix for this? Sparky talk ??? .

Rep gain/loss chart[]

I was thinking of setting up a chart that specifies certain actions and how they affect your rep with specific factions, however, I have no way of knowing exactly what an action will do to your rep (exactly how much is gained or lost) thanks to how it is simply shown on your pip boy in the form of your rep title. If there is a way to read the actions through the games archives or the geck, I wouldn't be able to because I have the 360 version.Superinsomniac 20:28, May 11, 2011 (UTC)

Reputation Bug[]

After returning to the Mojave from Zion, my reputation for BOS and NCR among other factions were reset to neutral and the factions no longer appear on the list under the stats-general page in the pip-boy. If I go anywhere near, say, Camp Mcarran, everyone stationed there instantly becomes hostile. Is this happening to anyone else or is this a more general bug. If so, is there any fixes? I would use console commands but I don't know what to type in.

101Phase

I also experienced a similar poblem, although I never noticed it until I finished old world blues so I cannot be sure when it happened, my rep for several factions (NCR, Leigon, Brotherhood and possibly a few others) was set to neutral, however, I managed to fix it (unintentionally) by equipping a faction disguise (NCR) and removing it. Clueless93 18:23, August 2, 2011 (UTC)

NCR Reputation[]

I am currently doing the mission Still in the Dark for the Brotherhood of Steel. I sided with Caesar's Legion during the campaign and I'm still with them. I have become a Merciful Thug to the NCR. When I equip my NCR Salvaged Power Armor and Salvaged Power Helmet, it states I am Neutral. When I went to talk to the NCR Ranger (Dobson) near the Hidden Valley bunker, he attacked me - with my NCR armor on. It's not a big deal, especially since it was so easy to kill him. I am not playing on Hardcore and I have ED-E as a companion. Does anybody know what happened? I suppose it is a glitch but I may have done something wrong. I don't want to walk in a Ranger Station and get mauled. Thanks. --Saytun 05:53, June 20, 2011 (UTC) Certain NPCs can see through disguises.--64.136.205.11 08:16, July 31, 2013 (UTC)

Answer: When wearing faction armor, you are only disguised to regular soldiers, not officers. I became vilified by the Legion, but equipped a Legion armor and I was allowed into the first part of The Fort since there are no officers there. However, if you enter the heart of The Fort, the officers and dogs saw through my disguise and attacked. Summary: Dogs and Officers can see through armor.

Certain reputations not increasing, others not decreasing[]

I just finished the 'I fought the law' quest for the powder gangers, and never received any faction fame at any stage in the quest. I also noticed that I didn't lose any fame from killing off the NCR patrol that comes in to battle them. I didn't think anything of it until later when completing the 'Why can't we be friends?' quest I didn't receive and powder gangers fame either. I was still able to turn in NCR dogtags at Cottonwood Cove to increase my reputation with Caesar's Legion from accepted to liked, so this seemed to work fine. In addition, summoning a ranger with the NCR emergency radio and then killing them off resulted in no loss of NCR reputation (the only reason I noticed this is I was trying to use the Archimedes II laser on the ranger to show a friend which is currently having the tracking lasers only glitch, and out of frustration I shot her with the Gobi rifle :P). I'm currently playing on Hardcore mode on PS3 with no DLC, and whatever the latest patch was around May 2011 (the last time I had internet hooked up to the ps3 before I moved). Any one else having anything similar happening? ~Xero

I found a way to lower Reputations that are stuck. Put on that faction's armor and go on a killing spree until you hit villified. IDK if that would help or not, worked with me and NCR at Hoover Dam. 98.193.172.157 20:01, October 9, 2011 (UTC)Lucitoast

Reputation values[]

I did some quick testing (with the setreputation console command) and I think I've come to a conclusion: the reputation values for infamy and fame needed to make a reputation level change (from neutral to accepted to liked to idolized or to any other reputation) is DEPENDENT ON THE FACTION, and there is no standard value for all factions.

Examples:

Due to my testing, I seem to have uncovered that for one to get an Idolized status amongst the town of Good Spring, one's fame must be 15+ (as the chart on the page states) (I left infamy at 0 but I assume it's on a similar scale).

However, for a faction like NCR, going from Liked to Idolized status requires a fame of 80 or more (79 is liked, 80 is idolized).

Further still, Caesar's Legion requires a full 100 in Fame (or Infamy) to get Idolized (or Vilified) and a full 100 in both will grant Wild Child.

Powder Gangers too seem to have a different scale (though I didn't give it enough testing to find exactly what the value is).

Conclusion:

If these results could be replicated by another individual, it would be useful to remove (or preferably altar) the table on this page to reflect the fact that each faction/town requires different reputation levels. Furthermore, if they could be deduced, the specific values for each faction/town listed would be useful as well from a mechanics stand point.68.205.226.219 12:58, August 29, 2011 (UTC)

Verified. The various factions all have different amounts of reputation points needed to change your status, but they all seem to be based on the 100 point scale that Caesar's Legion uses. I primarily tested only on the Fame scale, but all of the Infamy tests I ran returned the same numbers. I was unable to find where these exact value requirements are stored in the G.E.C.K., so if somebody figures out where they're located, feel free to pipe up. --TheWealthyAardvark 22:51, January 18, 2012 (UTC)

In the geck The idolized value is located at Actor Data-->Reputation-->(whichever one)--> the box labeled "value". The rest are just ratios of it I guess. Smakabwe (talk) 00:00, October 5, 2012 (UTC)

"Fame reduction"[]

During G.I. Blues, I chose the 3rd otpion while talking to Wayne. Instead of saying Freeside Infamy Game, it said Freeside Fame Reduce. I thought Fame couldn't be reduced, and you could only gain Infamy?

NCR Rep went down?!?![]

OK i just finished lonesome road, and i sent the nuclear missile off to the east of the collardo river, also known as caesar's land, this should have gained NCR rep and lossed Legion Rep, well my Legion rep was already Vilified, so it didnt change, but my NCR Rep went from idolized, to accepted........ WTF happened there?

Sometimes a bug happens where NCR rep goes down. Mine went from Idolized to Wild Child and I hadn't done anything to annoy them. I think it's on the reputation bug section it says what you can try to get your reputation back up to Idolized. :)

Regaining NCR Reputation

My NCR rep was "Idolized" ...But after i completed "I Fought the Law" in the NCR's favour (after having worn a powder gang disguise to initialialy infiltrate their prison)...the NCR were now hostile to me, even though i was still showing "idolized" by them. (By way of example, I could still summon NCR Ranger/Trooper with NCR radio..but when they arrived they were hostile to me unless I was wearing NCR armour)...Reading through various forums it appears there is a glitch that causes NPCs to treat you as if you are still wearing a disuise even if you have removed it...and prob remains even if PC fast-travels or saves and relaods etc....After thinking about it, it occured to me that, heretofore, there seemed to me no useful game related reason to change hairstyle or appearance after character creation at start of game...so I visited "Sink Auto-Doc" ...I had already completed "Old World Blues" DLC...Using auto-doc I had "cosmetic surgery" and got a new haircut...when i returned back to the Moave, the NCR retruned to treating me with the respect, admiration and reverence that my "idolized" repution deserved!

Can anybody else confirm this working for them?--TuskNB 17:55, January 1, 2012 (UTC)

Wild Child Traveling[]

Whenever I fast travel (after nuking Caesers Legion I might add) it resets my new Accepted reputation to Wild Child whenever I fast travel. Is this some sort of bug on the 360? 108.6.211.161 02:36, February 16, 2012 (UTC)

NCR attacking for no reason.[]

I have a severe problem. I am trying to side with the NCR but they keep attacking me on sight, even in the outpost in New Vegas, which I thought was neutral territory. I can't so much as talk to one with out getting shot at. As far as I know this occurred after a clothing rep glitch where it didn't register I took off my clothing (It was NCR gear which confuses me even more) so my rep was set to neutral with the NCR( again I'm confused why they attacked me considering this. I reequipped NCR gear and took it off again which brought back my original positive rep(Good Natured Rascal, which I might add I'm not happy of because my companion shot at some NCR when they saw them attacking the Lucky 38). But still EVERY NCR who isn't drunk in New Vegas shoots me on sight, even in NCR gear, how can I work with them again.

Is it possible to go from good-natured rascal back to idolized for the Strip?

Rep. change[]

Is it possible to go from good-natured rascal back to idolized in the Strip?

No, there's no way to lower your infamy with the Strip, also sign your posts. Paladin117 >>iff bored 15:28, March 30, 2012 (UTC)
Is there any difference at all between being a good-natured rascal and Idolized when it comes to the Strip reputation?112.201.89.252 16:28, March 30, 2012 (UTC)

i dont think wahtever rep you have for the strip even matters especially since it gives you nothing as far as i know Ztormtrooper (talk) 02:09, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

Earning reputation in disguise[]

Do I earn reputation in disguise? I'm siding with the NCR for example and would like to wear their faction armor, namely the Ranger Combat Armor, but I'm hesitating because I'm not sure whether I can earn positive reputation points while wearing it, which aren't gone as soon as I undress the disguise. ~ YourMom

according to the tutorial you get for equipping faction armor yes you will however you may not get 'clean ratings' such as idolized and accepted you may get merciful thug or wild child( maybe not as severe), also you can find some ranger armor in the ncr ranger safehouse after getting liked rating with ncr and talkign to col hsu Ztormtrooper (talk) 02:08, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

Powder gangers assassins?[]

I was attacked by a group of four Powder gangers south of Primm, after I became vilified by their faction. They had revolvers and some dynamite and opened fire, right after one of them spoke to me, similiar to Legionary assassins. Can anyone confirm this or does this usually and only happen south of Primm?

Only happens in that one spot south of Primm. I've ran into it multiple times on multiple characters to verify it. --108.80.41.84 23:44, July 21, 2012 (UTC) Sheo

Actually if you were neutral beforehand, inside the NCR Correctional Facility the bouncer (wears a hockey mask) inside the first building warns you to stay away from the Powder Ganger camps or else they'll be hostile. (Anonymous)

This is repeatable once you are vilified by the Powder Gangers. However, you must wait until the lead attacker says "You shouldn't have crossed ..." before killing them (which may mean taking a few hits) or one to all three dead bodies will glitch into the ground removing looting possibilities. Its a quirk due to their world location reseting after his little speech. (PS3, latest patches, GOTY, all DLC's) 72.128.208.82 21:26, October 7, 2015 (UTC)

Wild Child to Vilified[]

Rep with Caesar was Wild Child. I then killed everyone in the fort and my rep changed to Vilified. I was in Joshua's armor and had completed main quests up to the endgame choice at the dam. I had zero quests remaining with the legion. From what I've read that shouldn't be possible. Dogwjc (talk) 00:36, November 22, 2012 (UTC)

Smiling Troublemaker[]

Is it possible to go from Smiling Troublemaker to at least Liked with the NCR or am I stuck?--Gamer1191 (talk) 04:48, January 20, 2013 (UTC)

Dark Hero[]

Is dark hero a positive reputation because I am trying to boost legion rep before I do lonesome road so it would be helpful to know.

Reduce harmful reputation[]

Hi there, is there any way to reduce the harmful reputation to a faction? I'm currently vilified with the Great Khans, and want to get back to a positive rep...

NCR Rep[]

NCR Rep at Unpredictable[]

So I've been playing through this game again and for the first time I have gone with Yes Man (before I have always gone with NCR and been idolized). I don't remember what the hell I did to get infamy with the NCR but my rep has gone to liked to hated to mixed to unpredictable. I don't really care that much except for the fact that Unpredictable does not seem to be "neutral" and they want to attack me if I'm not wearing NCR armor. I've done a half a dozen quests to raise my rep and haven't budged. I've tried putting different disguises on and taking them off, etc to hopefully reset a possible glitch but have yet to come up with a solution. Does wearing a disguise while getting fame effect your true rep or does it just sort of absorb it? I even bombed Caesar at the end of Lonesome Road and nothing. I don't know what to do. I really want to save Kimball with Yes Man but can't unless I have positive rep with the NCR. --68.96.183.90 04:01, June 1, 2014 (UTC)

Overcome Good Natured Rascal?[]

I am a good natured rascal for the NCR (killed a support ranger that did'nt want to stop, following me) and I wanna know if I can become idolized again. I almost finished For The Republic, if that can help.

I was wondering this, myself. I must admit, the chart featured on the actual wiki page is a tad confusing. It says once you reach 'Wild Child' there's no going back. Well, for instance, my current Rep with the NCR is 'Good Natured Rascal'. I'd kinda like to get that back up to Idolized (where it was before, though I forget when/why I gained infamy with them to begin with), but am unsure if that's possible. Is 'Wild Child' just an all-encompassing 'cap', or can you not increase your fame/infamy once you hit stage 4 fame/infamy, only gain infamy/fame (respectively)? Article is wrong[]

This article is simply wrong.

Every time I put NCR faction armor - Caesar does change to aggressive red, but when I score some long-range kills, I get negative reputation - up to vilified. Yes, dialog box says extra "vilified". I have tested it numerous times at different locations. No hounds, no chiefs, long range unsilenced kills with .50 BMG.

Every time I remove the armor, vilified stays. If I put it on, faction status disappears, but upon removing again - I am back to vilified.

Thing is: Faction armor allows to slip into the role of a faction member. Till spottet by chiefs or dogs, that is. But player actions are applied to base reputation - ALWAYS. Killing someone in faction armor, changes your base reputation. You can re-equip faction armor to recloak yourself, but this does not change your base reputation. If they SEE you, you will be given negative reputation.

If you want to kill faction member, then simply do anything that surroundings are not aggressive (armor, stealthboys), target is not watching your way, you are hidden, you do silent a fatal shoot in just one VATS turn, or in about 1 second real time followed by immediate weapon holstering.

Mixed rep.[]

I'm looking to neutralize my rep with NCR, so I figured mixed rep would do the trick, since I'm currently accepted. Killed a grub n gulp npc amd it brought me down to mixed. How long do I have to wait before NCR stops attacking me on sight?

Please reorganize this article[]

This article has an organization problem. There are four sections: "Overview", "Reputation", "Faction reputation", and "Towns reputation". The word "faction" is used a lot in the "Overview" and "Reputation" sections, making me think that a lot of what is presented there applies to factions and not towns. But if that's true, then why isn't that information presented in the "Factions reputation" section?

Companion kills[]

If a Companion killed a Legion, will that effect your reputation? I have Boone with me and obviously he hates Legion. I was wondering if him killing them will cause the Legion to dislike me.

Stealing affects Reputation if CAUGHT - What about PICKPOCKET if caught /failed ?[]

So for all factions/towns, stealing affects reputation if caught +2 to infamy, but not if hidden/not caught. Killing affects reputation if caught +30 to infamy, but not if hidden, with silent weapon, with one shot. What about a failed pickpocket attempt ? This isn't addressed one way or the other in the article, but should be added in that same section. Eigwrireqyfg (talk) 16:21, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
