General Rawlings was the commanding officer of the U.S. Robotic Technology Facility RB-2851 prior to the Great War.
Background[]
As commanding officer[1] of RB-2851, General Rawlings was instrumental in the development of the Robobrain. Rawlings was fully behind the procurement method of the brain CPUs for the units. Unaware of this fact, one soldier under his command (G.C. Broadrick) came to him with complaints about the morality of what they were doing to the prisoners.[2]
The general had them removed from the project and transferred away from the facility.[3] The general was also directly involved in the Robobrain "tactical team."[4]
On the first official meeting of the minds within the new facility, General Rawlings met with the General Atomics International representatives Anna Karim and Gregory Adler. This meeting was to cement the public-private nature of the facility and its staff.[5] However, when the General brought in Dr. Kara Asante, it signaled that the GAI partnership and the involvement of their cyber-robotics technician, Carson Samuels, would end.[6]
As commander, Rawlings was also involved in the base's smoking policy. Originally, the facility had no cigarette machines in their breakrooms, and the employees had to return to the surface every time one of them ran out of cigarettes.[7] An enterprising electrical engineer, Brandon McDaniel, took this as an opportunity to smuggle a machine in and convert his workstation. He successfully bribed Rawlings with a few free cartons that found their way into his desk.[8]
Appearances[]
Rawlings is mentioned only in the Fallout 4 add-on Automatron.
