James was the son of Dan.
Background[]
After the Great War, James and his father were forced to run from danger, using masks while navigating post-War Appalachia. James had a love for trains, and repeatedly returned to his father's workplace (Mount Blair Trainyard) to look at the trains there. When Dan found James in a traincar, singing to himself, he told him that he could not keep coming back and that they had to keep moving.[1]

In the holotape My name's James, James is mislabeled as "Dan," while Dan himself has no name attached to his subtitles. This is because James' voice type is erroneously named "Dan."[2]
