Squire Gilden was one of the last two surviving members of the Appalachian Brotherhood of Steel in Appalachia.

Background[]

Gilden and Squire R. Rosen were among the members of the Thunder Mountain Power Plant's garrison, who were the last surviving members of the Appalachian Brotherhood after the fall of Fort Defiance on August 18, 2095. Despite bravely standing their ground, by the next day Gilden and Rosen were the only two left, retreating inside the plant. Knowing they were outmatched and with no hope of escape, Rosen recorded the deeds of the plant's garrison as a last testament of the Appalachian Brotherhood. With their deaths later that day, August 19, 2095, the Appalachian Brotherhood of Steel would meet its end.[1]

Appearances[]

Gilden is mentioned only in Fallout 76.

Behind the scenes[]

Rosen and Gilden are a reference to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, characters from Shakespeare's play Hamlet.
