Aliens are creatures in Appalachia.
Background[]
Three alien corpses are located in the Z-05 specimen chamber of the Enclave research facility. All collected data was later redacted, simply relaying that the subjects were to be destroyed.[1] During the Invaders from Beyond event, they invade Appalachia. They are often assisted by drones. The creatures will shoot at their enemies with alien blasters. They typically wear white and orange spacesuits, though some also wear blue and green.

Named aliens[]
Locations[]
- Aliens may occasionally appear as the enemy type in the Daily Ops rotation.
- Aliens appear as the main enemy during the seasonal event Invaders from Beyond.
- When Invaders from Beyond is the current community event, aliens may appear in random encounters.
Appearances[]
Aliens appear in Fallout 76, introduced in the Steel Dawn update.
Behind the scenes[]
- The aliens had existed within the game's files since release and were first implemented as corpses in the Steel Dawn update.
- The Fallout 76 Vault Dweller's Survival Guide describes aliens as an enemy encounter.[Non-game 1] However, living aliens were not added until the Invaders from Beyond update, and do not appear in standard enemy encounters outside of Invaders from Beyond.
- With the Mutation Invasion update, Zetans became a possible enemy faction in Daily Ops, during which Vernon Dodge is replaced as the narrator with Homer Saperstein. According to the update 33 patch notes, this was originally meant to be implemented during the Invaders from Beyond event, but did not become a permanent addition until Mutation Invasion.
- The Bethesda Game Studios Austin team had internally discussed doing "something fun" with the Zetans prior to the Fallout 76 launch. This ultimately became Event: Invaders from Beyond.[Non-game 2]
- When fighting aliens in a random encounter, a unique battle theme plays that is different from the music during the Invaders from Beyond event.

"The Zetan Alien isn't much for combat, which is probably good considering how hard it is to find one. It will simply shoot at you with its Alien Blaster until you give it a proper Earth welcome. Kill it to collect the Alien Blaster and ammunition."
(Fallout 76 Vault Dweller's Survival Guide Bestiary) - ↑ 2021 Bethesda AMA Mark Tucker: "We’ve been talking (internally) about doing something fun with the Zetans since before we launched the game, so we are excited to finally have the chance to do something with them. We are working on a new feature we call Public Challenges that will be similar to Seasonal Events, but will be global to the World and encourage players to work together to succeed. We will showcase the Zetans in our first one and plan to add more in the future."
