Bleach dogwood is a junk item in Fallout 76.
Characteristics[]
Bleach dogwood is a type of mutated flowering dogwood tree once common to West Virginia. Their white flowers were used to gauge romantic interest during the Victorian era,[1] their roots could be used to attract muskrats into traps[2] and their bare branches could be used as toothbrushes.[3] The mutated version continues to be useful in the wasteland as a component used to craft water filters.
Bleach dogwood trees continue to thrive in the Toxic Valley region of Appalachia. Unlike other flora in the area, they have been able to weather the pollution in the area created by the sabotaged Grafton Steel mill. However, they require periodic fertilization using the aerosolizers placed in the derelict farms across the Valley.[4][5][6]
Blast zone[]
When affected by a blast zone, bleach dogwood turns into gamma dogwood, which yields raw yellowcake flux when harvested.
Locations[]
- Primarily in the Toxic Valley region, predominantly between the Black Bear Lodge, Pioneer Scout camp, Clarksburg Shooting Club and Graninger farm.
- Seven trees can be found next to the Black Bear Lodge around the water tower. Four more can be found not far south-southeast.
- Ten trees can be found northwest of Pioneer Scout camp, around and between two of the transmission towers.
- Three trees can be found southeast of Smith farm.
Behind the scenes[]
According to removed Vault 94 terminal entries, the dogwood seen in-game is of the species Cornus florida, or flowering dogwood.[7]
