The ammunition plant is a settlement object added with the Fallout 4 add-on Contraptions Workshop.

Characteristics[]

  • The ammunition plant requires 8 power to function and does not have to be connected via a wire, any power going through the line will automatically connect it to the system.
  • Building the ammunition plant in the workshop requires at least rank 1 of Gun Nut and Science!.
  • The recipes for all possible ammunition types are accessible via a terminal. More ammunition recipes may be unlocked by taking higher ranks in Gun Nut.
  • All ammunition types are spawned from the plant in batches of 10 at a rate of one batch every 10 in-game seconds, provided the power and material requirements are met and the type of ammunition has been selected previously on a terminal.
  • Only one ammunition plant will show up in the connected terminal's control menu regardless of how many plants are actually linked into the network. This makes it impossible to mass-produce multiple ammo types in parallel without having individual power networks for each plant.

Notes[]

  • Just as with settlement workshops, it is not necessary to load the plant with raw components if sufficient junk is loaded instead. For instance, a pencil will satisfy the lead requirement for crafting .308, .44 or .50 caliber ammo.
  • When adding large amounts of each component, it is advisable to shut down the system first beforehand.
  • If the conveyor that is a part of the model isn't moving but the attached conveyors are, this can be resolved by storing and then replacing the ammunition plant in the workshop.
  • Ammo types from the Far Harbor and Nuka-World add-ons (e.g. .45-70 and 7.62 rounds) cannot be created with the ammunition plant.
  • The ammunition plant, in a mechanical sense, is similar to the ammo press in the Fallout 3 add-on The Pitt. Like the ammunition plant, the ammo press allows one to create batches of different ballistic ammunition by recycling materials. The difference is that the ammo press specifically requires either pre-made ammo or the generic scrap metal item to make new ammo, whereas the ammunition plant requires a variety of junk items and resources. Additionally, the ammunition plant requires investing at least four perk points into Gun Nut to maximize the types of ammo one can create, whereas the ammo press has all ammo recipes available immediately from the moment it is accessible.
