The 40lb and 80lb barbells are two junk items in Fallout 4.
Characteristics[]
Barbells consist of a steel pole with heavy lead weights on each end equating to either 40 or 80lbs. They were commonly used for workouts and bodybuilding before the war. They cannot be used to increase Strength, and have no uses apart from being sold or scrapped.

The barbells can be broken down into their individual components for use in crafting:

Notes[]
The barbells, and all other weights, curlbars, and dumbbells, will float on water, and can be used as a platform if one has enough of them.
