I'm not sure how feasible this is in terms of programing and aesthetics (though some of the comments in the video would suggest that this is indeed possible), but I think something like this should definitely be implemented if Minecraft's oceans are to be taken to their full potential. Endless flat oceans can get boring after awhile.

Holy. Diamonds. That is the best thing I have ever seen. Ever.

Great post i love the idea of waves and hate how the oceans are currently always to small to build a massive underwater dome.
I hereby give this the great shroom of aproval
Any idea what mob he is adding?Anyway this is an awsome idea except like that other dude was saying "water pressure"that would have to be a factor...like if you were to implement submarines or something like that you would be able to go deeper with an exploration vehicle than you can swimming

Lighting from fire,
And singing of chorus,
down from the heavens,
descended Chuck Norris.

I don't think water pressure is a realism we want in the game. You would simply be diving one moment, and the next you suddenly start losing hearts, or something, for no clear reason. If I were a newbie I'd probably panic and not understand why I was dying, being angry at my items sinking irretrievably towards the sea floor.
I understand what you mean....but im talking like....theres a certin point were you swim and then dont have enough time before you start losing hearts
im talking about swimming far far down (if the water depth was increased) to were water pressure would only kick in when you were about out of breath you swam down so far. And at a minor level it would only do half a heart per 4 seconds

That is as true as a wise old yellow elephant at the edge of the universe that grants you wishes if you see it wearing an "I love NY" t-shirt.
So, what you are saying is that it isn't true? I'm nor sure...
Anyway, I want water pressure. It wouldn't be an issue for any current water bases, because the oceans aren't deep enough to affect them, and it adds a "risk and reward" feature to building underwater bases.
Here is how: Let's say you and 10 other people build a super deep underwater base that is capable of withstanding the immense water pressure. It may be a disaster if someone manages to get there, but it is also INCREDIBLY difficult for people to get there. Your base can withstand the water pressure, but other people can't, which makes it nearly impossible for other people to get there without digging under it, or building a large tunnel to it.
