Great mod, but the prices are a teeny bit off. I play with Equivalent Exchange, and got well over a million gold in under twenty minutes using the philosopher's stone, so that definitely needs balancing. The exact recipe was feathers->string, in case you are wondering.

I did notice that diamond is way underpriced. Each diamond should double in price - 277 for a near full bar is too little. Also, the price of diamond ore should use the same stock value as a regular diamond, since you can just mine one anyway. That's going to mean higher EqEx prices, but eh... your diamond is too cheap.

The java.io.FileNotFoundException: .\config\GoldMerchant.dat is a common error at the start. Meaning at first it will try to load the the GoldMerchant.dat if not found it will create later when you exit the game. Don't worry as it just states that the file is currently missing.
Prices are way unbalanced I know. I am still trying to balance it out bit by bit through your responses. Anyways I will take note of the stonebricks and the diamond (I didnt know you can craft stonebricks that is why I gave it a high price.)
But so far am having some trouble. i went exploring extensively looking for a market, couldn't find one. so I thought to myself perhaps I am not looking far enough. so i then created a creative game and flew for about five minutes and still couldn't find one.
I am sure the mod is installed because I have a recipe book and can see the gold coin recipe.
Then I downloaded your tutorial world and upon interacting with the merchant experienced unbelievable lag and 0 fps. it doesn't crash just becomes unplayable, and because their is no crash I have no error log.
I have modloader, equivalent exchange, recipe book, ItemSprite API 2.0 (as required by EE) all installed.
I'm not sure what help exactly I am looking for given the little detailed info I have given you. but maybe someone else will test this out more extensively and find the problem.
No village will be spawned in creative mode because you could sell items infinitely! You carry your cash through other worlds that is why I limit it to survival mode only. I should specify that in the O.P
The market has the same rarity as a village, you should try to find grassy areas or plains because that is where they will likely spawn. Anyways, I have enough of the issues regarding the spawn rarity so I will put a config file for it in the next release, around tommorow, when I fix lots of balance issues regarding the prices.
