Page is in error sub-category.[]

I was looking at error sub-categories to see things I can do, and I saw that this page is in [[Category:Unprotected pages using Template:Protected]], so someone should delete what is causing that (unless if it is intentional, which I doubt). --GK1H (P/T/C) 18:44, 2 March 2021 (UTC)

Zombie Intelligence[]

If a zombie is burning in daylight and I throw a helmet at it, will the zombie stop to put it on as to stop burning?– Unsigned comment added by 199.216.38.38 (talk) at 19:27, 9 March 2021 (UTC). Sign comments with ~~~~

Well, zombies do have a chance to pick up armor, they are more likely to do so on hard difficulty however. James Haydon (talk) 19:31, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
I think they'll always pick up and put on armor, if there's any available, but they probably need a full set to protect from sunlight. 90.191.109.211 16:52, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
Well, while I was playing in Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft when I saw this zombie out of nowhere wearing a helmet without even burning!! --182.18.206.58 08:20, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
They need only a helmet though to stop burning. TheGreatSpring (talk | contribs) (Tagalog translation) 08:25, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Zombies in boats[]

For some reason, mobs in boats have an extended damage range (basically they can attack from farther away). I was in Education Edition and my challenge was to capture every mob possible in game. I tried to capture a zombie but I couldnt get near him. Why is that?--199.216.38.38 17:28, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

I'm doing something similar. Try to make a big dark room near your detainment area. That makes them spawn. And then only get them into a boat for the final detainment when you've already lured one into position. 90.191.109.211 16:52, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

Question about zombie villager[]

I heard that if you cure a zombie villager, the villager's trade(s) will be better. But the zombie just killed the villager instead of infecting; why!?– Unsigned comment added by Minecraftdabest! (talkcontribs) at 1:00 UTC (UTC). Sign comments with ~~~~

On Easy, they have a 0% chance of converting a villager to a zombie villager and will always kill it. Medium is half and half and on Hard, the villager will always be infected.Humiebeetalk contribs 00:55, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

What's the secret to infecting villagers?[]

I've failed this multiple times and I'm not sure what the problem is. Sometimes it works and other times it does not.

As soon as the zombie no longer sees the player, it attacks the next target (the villager), but when that happens, the zombie keeps attacking until the villager is dead. Somehow sometimes the infection does occur. What's the difference exactly? Do they just have to spend time close to each other with out actually attacking? 90.191.109.211 16:52, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

The secret is: See Zombie#Attacking villagers. 130.105.207.95 08:04, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Why did zombies attack an Evoker?[]

I was working on this project, hence building a woodland mansion. I had two Evokers as "guards" enclosed in barrier boxes. Sudedenly, some zombies came out of the mansion and ganged up on (and killed) one of the evokers. WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?

Why do zombies HAVE TO hunt players, villagers, and iron golems down?![]

Hello... I have a question. Other than because of the code, WHY do zombies HAVE TO hunt [almost] every living thing?!?! 130.105.207.95 08:08, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

I would guess, traditionally, zombies want brains. Intelligent brains. So they hunt villagers and players. They don't hunt farm animals. I am not sure if they go after illagers or witches; probably not. Amatulic (talk) 16:19, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
They don't go after the latter two. Tfremoblas (talk) 15:38, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

Detection range - page inconsistency[]

Under the 'Behavior' section, the current text reads "Zombies [...] pursue the player on sight from 35 blocks away", however in the 'History' section under the changes for Java 1.6.1, the text reads "Zombies are now able to detect the player up to 40 blocks" and there is no mention of it being set back to 35 in any subsequent release.

One of these is wrong, is it 35 or is it 40? I was under the impression it was 40 before checking the page. It should probably be changed to 40 under 'Behavior'.

Leader Zombies[]

According to the Difficulty page, Leader zombies, in addition to the bonus to call reinforcements, have a bonus to max HP and the ability to break down doors. However, the latter bonuses are not explained anywhere on the Zombie page. Is the Difficulty page wrong or is the Zombie page just missing information? Tim123467 (talk) 12:47, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

Dropped weapon/armor chances when picking-up new armor[]

Naturally-spawned mob loots have a chance to drop when they pick a replacement for it; By example, if a zombie pick up a chestplate that a player throwed, and it already have a chestplate (and the equipment replacement conditions are true), it'll equip the chestplate, and have a chance to drop its naturally-spawned chestplate, and if it does, it always have full durability. Those drop rates may be the same than regular droprates (8%?), but are calculated independently for each piece of equipement.

Mobs also seems to not replace equipement they are actively using (helmet, when under the sunlight), but this have to be confirmed.

I would like to confirm the droprates for this, and for the full durability loots when they drop it (even if I confirmed it myself already). This wiki should mention this mechanic, because this was implemented a long time ago (along with zombies wearing equipments and pick up abilities) Bakaba9 (talk) 22:48, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

Does nitwit become unemployed or remain a nitwit after zombification and cure?[]

Currently this page states:

"If it was a nitwit before it was transformed into a zombie villager, it will become an unemployed villager after the cure and can now learn a profession"

..and then in the next paragrpah:

"Conversion does not change a nitwit into a normal villager."

Good catch. I have tagged those sentences. Hopefully someone can resolve this contradiction. Amatulic (talk) 16:29, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

Does zombies know how to use a crossbow?[]

Just wondering... Tfremoblas (talk) 15:39, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

Bedrock zombie jockeys[]

I play minecraft bedrock edition and am currently trying to figure out how to get a zombie to ride a cat. If anyone could help out with this, it would really help, as the article doesn't really say a lot on how to do so..

P.S. The article also mentions this is possible, so I'm not insane

Split between Old and New Zombie Villagers[]

I've seen that you've split the villager article into villager_v1 and villager_v2. So why shouldn't it be also for zombie villagers???? The Zombified Stray that Roams with a Pink/Wither/Storm Enchanted Shield (item) Talk to me and Enchanted Netherite Axe see what I've done Enchanted Netherite Pickaxe 13:43, 5 May 2022 (UTC)

AFAIK zombie villagers haven't changed. Villagers have. And we do have a zombie villager article split out from this one. Amatulic (talk) 14:52, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
I meant the old zombie villagers, IYUWIM.
And also, where is "a zombie villager article split out from this one"? The Zombified Stray that Roams with a Pink/Wither/Storm Enchanted Shield (item) Talk to me and Enchanted Netherite Axe see what I've done Enchanted Netherite Pickaxe 08:45, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
As I said, AFAIK zombie villagers haven't changed, so there isn't any "old" zombie villager. Amatulic (talk) 20:02, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
So, you don't understand what I mean. I meant the pre-Village and Pillage zombie villagers. Ugh. Amatulic, Did I ever have to go to great lengths to explain to you what I meant?!?! HumbleCrafteer Enchanted Shield (item) [Talk to me] Enchanted Netherite Axe [See what I've done ] Enchanted Netherite Pickaxe 04:22, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
No, you aren't being clear at all. The Village & Pillage article doesn't mention zombie villagers at all, and the history section in zombie villager says that the only change in Village & Pillage for zombie villagers to get new skins, and retaining their profession after being cured. Nothing significant enough to warrant a stand-alone article. Amatulic (talk) 17:43, 8 May 2022 (UTC)
Should I delete this section, Amatulic? HumbleCrafteer Enchanted Shield (item) [Talk to me] Enchanted Netherite Axe [See what I've done ] Enchanted Netherite Pickaxe 04:05, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
Nah, leave it. Removing it wouldn't remove it from the page history, and it would eventually get moved to an archive anyway. But if you remove it, no harm done. Amatulic (talk) 20:06, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

Why don’t zombies pick up armor PE?[]

I have tried to give zombies armor to make them stronger but they never pick it up. KingDBX (talk) 21:16, 17 May 2022 (UTC)

They don't pick up armor at all in Easy difficulty, and in Normal difficulty the chance is about 1 out of 7 times. You have to throw armor at them a lot of times for one piece to get picked up. Amatulic (talk) 23:14, 17 May 2022 (UTC)

Do spawner-created zombie villagers have food in their inventory when cured?[]

I am using my zombie villager farm to create an underground village. So far I have cured three villagers: a cleric, a farmer, and a librarian. I've given them all job site blocks and beds (there are actually 20 beds because I have also made an underground iron golem farm, using my converted village design). I also gave the farmer a small farm plot with a few crops in it.

I went up to my surface farm to gather some wheat to craft bread to feed my three villagers, but when I got back down to my underground village, I find, to my surprise, that my little underground village now has a baby villager.

The farmer's 7x4 plot has the crops I planted in various stages of growth, but I cannot tell if he's harvested anything and replanted. He hasn't had much time.

This isn't an easily repeated experiment, because I have spent several days setting this up.

This suggests that zombie villagers that come from a zombie spawner (this is Bedrock Edition) have some food items in their inventory when cured, and can become "willing" to breed without help. Does anyone know? Amatulic (talk) 06:45, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
