Inadequate video[]
The video does not follow how I've instructed to build this. IT ISN'T A DOME! ! ! IT'S A FREAKING BASE THAT ISN'T SHAPED LIKE A DOME! It's inadequate to have a tree in a base, especially an underwater one.

- Yeah, that video really isn't "underwater". And really, you don't need to yell about being a dome. A dome is frequently used (aesthetic purposes), but it isn't limited to that and you don't need to yell. And what do you have against trees underwater? People like having certain features in their bases, so why not a tree?
- Also, one thing that I'm not sure about your design is how do you construct a base in a deep sea? Like, once you have a column, do you have to swim down to place the blocks for the walls and ceilings of the new areas? --JonTheMon 20:22, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- I find it easier if you swim down to do it, as there will not be a current. I have nothing against trees, and I was going for emphasis on the dome topic

- Have you ever considered building almost entirely under water by constructing the ceiling first and creating an air pocket? That would enable you to stay "below water" for much longer; all you would have to do is come out from the pocket and extend the roof/build the walls then head back for air. I'm planning on adding that as an alternative strat, if you don't mind. --JonTheMon 01:45, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
In my opinion this article should be a collection of all underwater tricks useful when building a base. I started building one and had to look all over, find out what data was outdated by now, etc. etc. For now I have a rather comprehensive idea about how to build an underwater base, so I will edit the article to reflect that. Note to PixelChase (since this appears to be YOUR article) on how this page could be improved : In the first paragraph, you use home/base/fort/fortress when it really should be one consistent term. Remove the "Edit"s in step 3 and rephrase to not use "my". Make "Another good option" as a separate method. another way[]
Step one: make a horizontal span out over deep water with blocks like dirt or cobble stone until you reach a spot for your new home.
Step Two: Drop sand or clay to make a pillar. User ladders to clime down the pillar, the ladders make an air space to breath. From there make smaller ladder pillars to open up more breathing space. Then add the walls and roof. 72.71.178.185 21:19, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
Article is WAY out of date[]
The techniques described in the articles (using fences and so forth to make a breathing bubble) no longer work. At least not in the Bedrock edition. Amatulic (talk) 02:23, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
Update: I've removed some obsolete information based on the waterlogging article. Apparently doors, banners, and fence gates can still make an air bubble in Java Edition, but nothing does in Bedrock. ~Amatulić (talk) 21:14, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
