Merging Any OS[]

Is MCPatcher really needed on Mac OSX? If not we could merge the "normal" method on each OS to "Any OS" like in Tutorials/Map downloads#Any OS.--freaktechnik (w|t) 20:13, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

The only real difference is the file paths (I think, I don't have any other OS to verify that though) so the tutorials could probably be merged. MCPatcher is need for HD Textures so maybe I should have said that.

youp, the filepath are the only difference, see Linux and Windows sections.

basic info[]

Is it possible that different texture packs affect monster spawning? i know that the graphics setting affects monsters ability to spawn on some things (leaves) but can a texture pack affect it too?--Lazeman 01:39, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Say if Grass, a common monster hoarder at night, was partly transparent in a "Grass Opaqueness" texture pack, I suppose like leaves in a way, It could prevent monster spawns on grass. Jedi in, um, I forgot. 11:23, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

No it wouldn't affect mob spawning because the source for block transparency is in the game code, not in the texture.

Texture packs[]

I downloaded a texture pack and it is in the texture pack folder but its greyed out in the game menu and it doesnt work. Why does it do that? 121.217.128.213 10:40, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Which texture pack? You'll need a mod to use HD ones. -- Orthotope 03:14, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

I downloaded the same texture pack used by the yogscast but i dont bknow if its HD or not but no matter what i do it wont work101.161.229.90 08:40, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

HD Texture Pack[]

I downloaded the HD texture Pack "Soartex Fanver" (SF) as well as MCPatcher. Both downloaded fine and the patch was successful, which I know because I could see the "Better grass" part worked. However, I put the SF into the Minecraft texture pack folder as a .zip file, but it just showed up in Minecraft as the default texture pack, separate from the regular default pack. I can select it, but it's exactly the same as the default when I go into Minecraft. Am I doing something wrong? 10:08 PM, July 17, 2012

My mods and texture packs option in the main menu only says texture packs.[]

it sucks and I can't upload the painterly pack I just spent 2 hours assembling, I have Minecraft 1.3.2. This problem is making me not want to play.

Help my texture pack only partially work[]

e.g my skin and items are retextured but my blocks isnt retextured

Minecraft Resource Packs[]

I have downloaded a Resource pack I went into Minecraft, I then went to options and clicked Resource Pack, I then clicked the arrow so it moved the Pack to the column that said "Selected Resource Packs" and then clicked done. Nothing happened. I tried to exit out of Minecraft to restart the game and still nothing worked. Help?

Mac OS .zip files need updating[]

you can unzip the textures. in fact you need to. otherwise they won't appear ‡Selene011‡ (talk) 14:41, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

That does not sound like proper behavior. Minecraft itself is programmed to accept zipped files, so if it does not work on mac (which is the first time I have ever heard of this), that is a bug that should be reported to the tracker. KnightMiner t/c 15:27, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

Windows 10 Edition[]

I've found that certain resource packs (in this instance, Last Days) have versions made for bedrock edition, that is to say, Mobile and Windows 10, can someone please add a tutorial on how to add non-purchased resource packs (since the online store lacks many favorites)

Still won't work[]

I followed the steps to download a pack but it still won't show up! Please help. (PS I don't have a Twitch acc so I can't sign in to Gamepedia.)--59.149.47.237 23:57, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
