Please merge Strays with Skeletons[]

You're thinking "why not merge bows with arrows?" but they are quite similar. I'm excluding Wither Skeletons because they're too different (the drops, the height, the appearance, the weapon of choice, etc.) Otherwise, it would be a load to deal with. I realize that they were together a while back, but looking at the similarities (ranged weapon, drops, height, light level conditions, etc.) I believe we should "remerge" the two pages. 98.230.115.82 14:46, 15 March 2020 (UTC)

The stray is a completely different mob though, I don't think it should be merged for that reason. --Morpheus836 (Greymagic27) (talk) 14:50, 15 March 2020 (UTC)

I think I agree with with Morpheus836, If you played Minecraft longer, you would find out that their AI is even not the same… Therefor, Strays and Skeletons are totally different mobs and should not be merged. —-Jungle Desert [1]

Commands[]

If I spawn a skeleton with the command /summon skeleton, a normal skeleton would spawn. But if I spawn the skeleton with a custom name or even type in /summon skeleton ~ ~ ~ {}, the skeleton will hold air. If I spawn a mob riding a skeleton, or a skeleton riding a mob, the skeleton will be unarmed. The same thing happens with zombie piglins, and wither skeletons. Is this all a bug? 173.47.246.189 23:00, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

I don’t agree There is no bug, try updating your Minecraft, Maybe it is outdated!! The other problem is /summon skeleton ~ ~ ~ {} means you force the command to summon it without a bow because “ {} ” is where you tell the command what will be in the skeleton’s hand slot or armor slot —-Jungle Desert (talk)
Yes, this is how it works. If you pass NBT, you are responsible for filling out what you want. The default path to outfit the entity is not executed in this case. - AD OffKilter (talk) 01:55, 9 June 2022 (UTC)

Skeleton Intelligence[]

If a skeleton sees a better bow on the ground will it pick it up trading out its other bow? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 199.216.38.38 at 19:46, 9 March 2021. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

Pretty sure. I did a an experiment where I put a large amount of skeletons in one spot, and threw in some diamond armor to see which one would pick it up, then, I threw a fully-enchanted bow at the skeleton that picked up the armor, and the skeleton picked it up. I then threw a weaker, non-enchanted bow at the skeleton, and it didn't pick it up. So it seems that skeletons that can pick up loot will pick up bows that are stronger than the one that they already have, but won't pick up bows that are weaker than the one they have. --Ultsppi (talk) 22:57, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

The chance of spider jockeys spawning[]

Did you verify the spawn probability? I have moved the tag to that part of the sentence so that it's clear. I have seen about a thousand spiders spawn in Bedrock Edition, and not a single one with a skeleton riding it, so that "1% probability" looks very wrong for Bedrock Edition. Amatulic (talk) 05:30, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

You do not need to worry, the “1%” refers to 1% chance using spawn eggs and commands. Spawners and naturally spawned spiders have a lot less chance. —-Jungle Desert (talk)
