Thanks to Auldrick (talk • contribs • logs • block log) for starting this years ago at User:Auldrick/Seed picker, which I discovered after starting this article. Thumbnail images from some of the old seeds come from there. ~ Amatulic (talk) 18:34, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
Possible bug in /locate[]
In using commands/locate to find features nearby the spawn point, I found that /locate doesn't always locate the nearest structure. That's why there are two strongholds listed in the "Coastal Village" seed; /locate found the farther one, I found the nearer one. So you have to explore the world a bit to verify the nearby things. Bug filed at https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-45526 ~ Amatulic (talk) 18:38, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
- Did the one you found have an End Portal? Did the one you found happen to be a part of the one /locate found? These are things you have to consider. --AwesomeNinja886 (talk) (

- @AwesomeNinja886: You can read all about it in MCPE-45526, which has been independently confirmed. It isn't just strongholds but also ocean monuments. Yes, all the strongholds I found have an end portal, and no, they are many hundreds of blocks apart and not part of the same stronghold. 13:50, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
- Update: As of Bedrock 1.16, the /locate bug MCPE-45526 has been fixed. ~ Amatulic (talk) 06:21, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

"Upcoming Seeds" section[]
User Amatulic decided to undo my edit asking which seeds were added in BE 1.12. I feel there should at least be an "upcoming seeds" section for seeds added in upcoming updates. We don't know when 1.12 is going to be released. Maybe 1.13 will add a few seeds? An "upcoming seeds" would, in my opinion, positively affect the article.--AwesomeNinja886 (talk) ( Contributions) (

- @AwesomeNinja886: I think that's a good idea. Do you know what the seeds are? Or maybe we could have a more general section on "upcoming changes" because sometimes seeds go away also. The transition to 1.11 caused many seeds to go away and new ones to appear. ~ Amatulic (talk) 14:33, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Amatulic: That's why I put "Which seeds were added in BE 1.12?"... I have no way of knowing b/c I'm not signed up for the beta... --AwesomeNinja886 (talk) (

- But the idea of the "upcoming changes" section sounds good.--AwesomeNinja886 (talk) (

- I was originally thinking more of "upcoming seeds" and adding the Until template for ones being removed.--AwesomeNinja886 (talk) (

- Either way would work. Unfortunately I don't know what the upcoming changes will be either. When I created this seed picker page, I was fortunately able to capture most of the seeds that were disappearing, which is why this article has two sections instead of just one section on current seeds.
- The bigger priority is fleshing out the information on the current seed list. I tackle one every once in a while when I get the time. Basically what I do is spawn myself in creative, use /locate to make a list of features, explore around a bit looking for more, save the game, run mcpe_viz to create a map, examine the map for the nearby biomes (and the map sometimes reveals other structures, which I then explore further) and then update the article. This can be labor intensive. I recall spending about 3-4 hours getting information for the "Coastal Village" seed, and another couple of hours in "Ocean Monument Ahead". ~ Amatulic (talk) 16:57, 28 June 2019 (UTC)

@AwesomeNinja886: Late reply.... It turns out that 1.12 had no new seeds, in spite of the release notes saying it does. I went through the seed picker and saw nothing new. It seems that the seeds intended for 1.12 were already in 1.11. ~ Amatulic (talk) 06:00, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Can we do anything about tables with long vertical text?[]
This page and others have tables with long vertical text which makes it harder to read and visually scan. I am wondering if there's anything we can do about this. I had experimented with a table that essentially puts the long text as a second row underneath all but the leftmost cell, meaning that each entry is two rows, though the leftmost cell would have a rowspan of 2, e.g. I think it makes things easier to read/parse, but I am not sure if there are accessibility implications of such a format. If my description of what it would look like is not very clear, I can try to recreate what I was playing with again. - AD OffKilter (talk) 17:49, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- I don't know if there are accessibility implications either but I think that's one possible way to make that column more readable and reduce the width of the table. I wonder if it would be better to display such information in list format instead of a table, which would make the section longer vertically but not exceed the width of the screen or cram information into narrow columns. –Sonicwave talk 18:30, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah that might be a possibility too. In the meantime I hacked an example over in my sandbox. It works, though the info density might be a bit high. - AD OffKilter (talk) 23:18, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
