Wrong fact[]
On the page it says Podzol can only be obtained through /give. When I went on the 13w36b snapshot, I saw Podzol right next to the dirt icon, as well as it's tooltip said "Podzol." Someone should fix this wrong fact. --Nick62703 18:20, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
Trivia section[]
It says podzol not spreading may be a bug. It is not a bug, podzol is a type of soil. Soil does not grow. 60.241.224.44 05:24, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
Merge?[]
Since Coarse Dirt is the same block as Podzol except with a different texture, I suggest merge this with the dirt page. Or just separate Coarse Dirt from Dirt.190.190.220.139 21:26, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Why this article should not be merged with Dirt[]
I would like to point out specifically for mergists that the article on podzol should not be merged with the dirt article. Within the game’s context, podzol is a top layer of dirt, with a distinctive top-side texture, found in mega taiga biomes, therefore it is more similar to blocks of grass and mycelium. But these three have different specifications regarding outer look and what can grow on them. Moreover, let’s try to correlate real-world notations with these blocks. Grass block is just dirt with grass on top of it. Mycelium is apparently fictional (like the mushroom island itself with giant mushrooms) but is good for growing mushrooms; the top surface’s color along with visual effects indicate that it is covered with mushroom spores. Podzol is a block with humified organic material that fell from the trees, which resembles ash (hence the name; “под-” is Russian prefix for “under” and “зола” is Russian for ash). So I don’t think that a merge in backward direction – that is merging grass, podzol and mycelium – also would fit. — NickTheRed37 (talk) 07:39, 4 July 2017 (UTC)

Renewable in 1.13?[]
Large spruce tree Podzol replaces grass blocks, dirt and coarse dirt around a large spruce tree that grows in its place.
Doesn't it mean that it is now renewable, because you can grow 2x2 spruce trees to convert dirt to podzol blocks?
You can get saplings from the tree again. What is not renewable is dirt however, so not sure if podzol should be considered renewable...

- Yeah, but like you said, neither grass blocks, dirt, nor coarse dirt are renewable, so I'm pretty sure podzol wouldn't be either, even if it's possible to convert those three blocks into it.-- Madminecrafter12

- So while it is Reproducible - at the "cost" of whatever Dirt (Block) variants otherwise (if Grass or Mycelium) are even later to replace It in-turn - it is not strictly-speaking (fully-)renewable. Because it is a Dirt variant, basically.
- The trick is, it is Somewhat more-Self-Reproducible, than those others. Because, While one can Clear: Grass /Mycelium, back-to most-regular Dirt; it takes time for Grass /Mycelium to Grow /Spread, unlike this which Instantly-changes Dirt-variants within-Range, after an intermediate amount of time compared to this slower-and more-even Dirt-replacement.
- If the others "fill a space," it "in-fills All spaces," and-Faster (generally). However, there's only so much (Dirt) space until it's full-see? Yilante 2 /3 /19 11:48 p.m.
- Ah, and from the "Coarse Dirt" Page: "Coarse dirt can be tilled to become dirt. This can be useful in multiplying dirt, assuming the player has a steady source of gravel."
- I checked the recipe there, for Crafting it: 2 Dirt + 2 Gravel yields 4 Coarse Dirt ("Multiplying Dirt," indeed!) ; THIS is the way to increase-Dirt. Because Once one Tills Farmand from-Coarse Dirt, Grows a Sapling to a Tree, or Grows a Giant Mushroom, there, it Converts it into regular-Dirt (DOUBLING the Dirt, with each new re-injection of Gravel into the system: however; Gravel - Too - is non-renewable [either]). Renewable[]
