um what exactly is the difference between "gold_ingot" and "gold ingot" if anything the underscored version should redirect to the plain one. same for the other pages that already renamed to (ingot), why the underscore redirection? Soul4hdwn 16:14, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

they seem to be the same page o-o--Kizzycocoa 16:16, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
MediaWiki replaces all underscores in page titles with spaces, so there's no need for a redirect.--Barracuda 16:19, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
Any links can have spaces or underscores and they'll end up at the same place, it's really just to make it look better in the URL. An underscore or hyphen is definitely neater looking than an escaped/encoded space ( /%20). –ultradude25 (T|C) 20:43, 7 November 2010 (CST)

Hoes - why is there a special mention of them? Is it really true that there's a widespread popular belief that gold hoes are more durable? Or is it a thinly-veiled attempt at the "hoes with heart of gold" joke? =/ In any case, I'd like to vote to have that sentence deleted. --meioziz 03:04, 10 November 2010 (CST)

Okay, dug through history, and that sentence was there at page creation, a reference Kizzycocoa made about a glitch that was actually in-game (it's at the top of Kizzy's Talk page). Never mind then. =p Still, it looks like a bad joke, and I'm all for removing it, or moving it as a proper historical reference to the glitch.

Gold Ingot Crafting[]

Shouldn't there be two tables under the heading "Crafting"? A table for the making of gold blocks (9 gold ingots) is missing, and I have no idea how to edit the page so I can make those tables... Vincent2128 10:24, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

Golden Apple[]

Gold Apple should be mentioned under crafting or somewhere at least, but it's not. I would add the table myself but I don't know how, and I don't want to try and then break the page. Aces.trump 20:43, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Someone had added Golden Apple as an available crafting recipe with Gold Ingot, whereas it can only be crafted with Gold Blocks. (Confirmed and tested) --P4thogen 06:08, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

merge with gold block and gold ore[]

If arrow and bow are the same page, the page should be Gold because there isn't much info on gold ore or gold block. I propose the pages should be merged. FG10

No... Check iron, diamond, and lapis lazuli. Calinou - talk × contribs » 15:38, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Then maybe we should merge all the pages for iron together, diamond pages together, 'BUTTER' pages together, and lapis lazuli pages together. It would make it easier to find information about the ore, ingot, block, and nugget of 'BUTTER' at once. User:Minethecreeper

Gold Tools are very useful[]

As of patch 1.9 pre 4 Gold Tools are very good to be a target of enchanting. You can very easily get Unbreaking + Efficiency, or even Silk Touch.

As for Gold Armor, it isn't as useful, because currently there is no enchant preserving durability(like Unbreaking).

Gold Swords are good thing for boss fights, such as Ender Dragon. Their enchant-ability is great target to get triple or more damage, but it's very fragile as is, thus it's rather a boss fight than a normal use.

I realized, since it gets great enchantments, then a 'BUTTER' sword might just get the unbreaking enchantment, and then you won't break it very fast, while as a regular 'BUTTER' sword would not have good enchantments, and it wouldn't last long. User:Minethecreeper

Sorry, but you cant get unbreaking for swords unless you use an anvil. Also, I like your GOLD!! The person above didn't write this. I didn't know how to reply..im a noob sorry . 98.193.104.133 17:15, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

yes you could get unbreaking for swords--209.221.90.250 13:50, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

gold is useless[]

Gold is extremely rare but its tools are very poor quality. The only good use is clocks.

Diamondcraft 03:38, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Gold isn't that rare, its tools mine faster and get better enchantments in exchange for fewer uses, and you're forgetting Powered Rails, Glistering Melons, and Golden Apples.
...granted, the latter isn't as good as it used to be, but still... Cobalt32 03:43, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Should we add a note about "butter"?[]

For those who don't know, famous YouTuber SkyDoesMinecraft is well known for calling Gold "butter" and it has become a popular meme within the Minecraft community. I feel that this could be added to the article, but I want to know if it would be fine to put in. Bobbysq 14:46, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

In general, this wiki doesn't document the fan community. What a random person (read: not a Mojang employee) does on YouTube isn't really significant. -- Orthotope 08:50, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

Sword Recipe[]

In the sword box of the recipe list, it claims that gold ingots can craft any sword. This should be fixed, no? --2057clones (talk) 16:24, 13 April 2020 (UTC)

The crafting recipe on the Sword page was incorrectly matched. Should be fixed now, purge the page if not.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 16:30, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
