I don't understand the reasoning for wanting to delete this page.

The information on this page is accurate and very useful, for anyone programming anything for minecraft classic, such as clients, bots, servers.

It describes the protocol in full, and from this information is exactly what you need, and it's all that you need, to be able to build custom software for minecraft classic.

(By the way, http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Classic_server_protocol was restored, but http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Classic_Server_Protocol was not.)

Edit:Ah forget it, I saved the page for personal usage, so what do I care what you do with it. SpaceDot 17:29, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

So why is there a delete tag?[]

So this is the reason for deletion: "Reason: Suggests official support for custom servers (which is truly only what uses this) even though it's information of the actual client/server - otherwise custom servers already know. This is, to be honest, kind of pointless. Also, there's none for Beta (and don't ever see the need)". First off, where does it suggest "official support for custom servers"? I can only see a documentation, and not a suggestion. Second, "custom servers already know." What about the the people who don't know this? If they don't know, how will they find out? Third, how is this pointless? It's not spam, vandalism, a story, etc. Finally, "none for Beta". Please pay attention to the title. This is for Classic, not Beta. People still play Classic. So why should this be deleted? All of the deletion reasons are worthless! Also, one last thought, how is this not supported by Mojang? Drenay 18:26, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Restored deletions[]

I restored the deletions because I often refer to this page. Further since it is properly named "Classic Server Protocol" I see no reason to delete it.

"This is, to be honest, kind of pointless": Is just plain wrong. This page is a good legacy article to refer to and it violates no rules.

"Suggests official support for custom servers": Is that not why there is a red banner at the top?!

Do. Not. Delete.[]

This is essential for custom server writers, ie. me, to get along. Without it I'd fail pretty epically. Again, don't delete! Elite6809 (talk) (forum) 20:16, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Don't Delete![]

I find this information very useful when trying to understand the Classic protocol. I still use this page regularly. I don't understand the reasoning to removing it.

Disclaimer tag[]

Why is there a disclaimer tag? Isn't it used by the official server software? Or was it part of the hasty deletion reason used by IKJames? Drenay 23:00, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

I'm kinda late, but I think it's cuz' Notch doesn't really even bother to look at classic these days. It's not supported by Mojang— as of tonight, the last time they updated it was about half a year ago. And that was a few tweaks to the server list! 67.84.90.88 07:26, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Formatting character (§)[]

I added a note that the character appears on other keyboard layouts such as german QWERTZ. It is not only available through copy & pasting. I also added a note for the alt code. Jonalu 12:30, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

It is critical to a successful heartbeat that you leave out the "www" in the HTTP request, as you are going to be targeting it as a URI, not a URL.[]

Can someone please cleanup this line? It's quite confusing in it's current state. Drazisil (talk) 19:37, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

DON’T DELETE[]

You should not delete, and I have some informations for update the page. But I have not everything, I am just doing a Python experience (create a MC server with python). So I can help to update the page. But I don’t know if I can edit because this page have to be split. PS : I don’t think that the heartbeats are already used. Or the address is bad(I get a 400 bad request error with POST request and a 404 page not found with GET). And a lot of the request are invalid. Go to my project discord server for more info (https://discord.gg/zJpQgXpB). And it is for which version ? FewerElk (talk)
