Boating in 1-high Water over a - now - un-Lit since Placed in it, Campfire[]

You take no damage in the Snapshot 19w02a, for this. However, disembarking - and then generally popping-out on top of it - all seems ok, too.

Until you move, and then begin to take-damage, for moving from that initial safe no-damage disembarked (only?) position. This is pretty intricate to describe on the main page, but as I'd written it before, it was removed (again, could - all - be Snapshot, behavior, and there's No way to figure-out if this even "acts like" or is a Bug /feature /works-as intended, or glitch -otherwise).

Took less room, then. So yeah. Yilante 1 /10 /19 1:43 a.m. 76.209.248.192 09:43, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Similarities to Magma Block (by damage /time)[]

Since even Unlit ones do the same damage as Lit /sec. - and as Magma Blocks - should we not have this also on the main Page? A renewable (if with Charcoal) version of (less-obviously Bright - if more Light, 9 than 3) some of the effects of (also fire damaging) Magma Blocks, but with only half the height (apparently a Slab height as opposed to full-size Block).

Oh, right *editing* and also unlike Cactuses (which do the same damage yet-again /time) otherwise significantly-similar. They don't (seem to) destroy (all - when Campfire destroyed, "items can't be picked up"? - still Snapshot) items on them. Yilante 1 /10 /19 11:05 a.m. 76.209.248.192 19:09, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

note blocks[]

In the snapshot that introduces campfire 19w02a it says "hint: think note blocks" on the part about the hay bale smoke signals. I have tried experimenting with them, but I cant get them to work. I play bedrock edition of Minecraft and think there might be a difference in Java.96.18.195.114anonymous.

This meant that you place hay bales under campfire for the higher smoke, similar to how you place different blocks under noteblocks for a different sound -PancakeIdentity (talk) 19:30, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

Campfires working through 1 obstructing block above it for beehives[]

Is it good if I provide a YT clip of it? https://youtu.be/6OEE1AbiBX0 Performed in version 1.18.2. In Java Edition, if there's a block directly on top of the campfire like a honey block or a wooden plank, the smoke passes through the campfire and beehives/nests don't get aggro'd when grabbing honey. If the block is one-block-higher, though, the smoke doesn't pass through and bees will be aggro'd. Untested on Bedrock. - Shadowysn (talk) 09:55, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

Please don't spread talk page text out unnecessarily, it causes unnecessary scrolling for people with small displays.
This behavior is very similar to how it behaves on Bedrock, though I'm not sure it's intentional. There is a Bedrock bug ticket reporting it. You should check whether it has been reported as a bug in Java, and if so, it shouldn't be given a lot of focus in the article. The policy on video clips is at Minecraft Wiki:Wiki rules/Video policy. — Auldrick (talk · contribs) 14:41, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
Looks like the campfire smoke has been reported and it's WAI, a.k.a. intended. Not sure about the bee behavior though. One issue that mentioned the bee behavior was set as a duplicate of it, still not sure what to make of that.
Feels like the bee behavior may be noteworthy, though, since the wiki page for Campfire as of now says in the Bees section: "There must be unobstructed air between the campfire and the beehive or bee nest. Carpets are an exception.‌" which isn't exactly true given the case of any block being directly above the campfire still working. - Shadowysn (talk) 11:35, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
