I hope I'm using this talk page right, I'm not used to mediawiki. Anyways, are we sure that the max characters on a page is 256? I've tested in 1.16.4 and I don't remember the exact numbers, but if you fill the book up with i's, you can get a lot more than just 256. Amagicmuffin (talk) 20:59, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

Formatting Codes do not work on the Book and Quill for either Bedrock Edition or Java Edition[]

For Bedrock Edition, you are capable of pasting the ยง symbol into the book, but it has no affect on the way the text is displayed. When exiting the editor for the page, the formatting codes disappear as they should, but the text format is not changed. For Java Edition, you cannot paste anything into the book, so the use of formatting codes in the Book and Quill or any other entity that displays editable text is a non-starter.--BeauwithaBang (talk) 04:04, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

When exactly was the limit raised to 14 lines[]

it was never changed

There is a caveat to the 114 pixel width of book lines.[]

It appears that the one pixel wide space that is added between characters is more accurately described as being added after each character. The implication of this is that if your last character of a line ends on the 114th pixel, no room is left to add the 1 pixel spacer (even though it is not needed), and that character (with its spacer) will be pushed to the next line. And the implication of that is that there are only 113 usable pixels on each line. This was tested in the Book and Quill GUI and may not apply to books written in JSON (not tested). --GreenBeing (talk) 18:22, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
