Sculk Block Names[]

Somebody changed the names of some blocks on this page, so I reverted it back. From where did you get the name "Sculk Jaw"? I know that it has been theorized, but Wiki editors agreed on calling it the Sculk Trap. Also, it doesn't make sense to call the Sculk Block "Block of Sculk", as Sculk is not a mineral or something you collect and craft into a block. It is a natural creature that comes as a block. Take coral as an example.--Ziad El-Moursy (talk) 23:42, 3 June 2021 (UTC)

1.18.0 Release Date[]

I recently went to another wiki, and may have found that the release date is December 31, 2021. I don't know if this is true or not, but if Mojang comfirmed this, please add it, ASAP.--Noah0327 (talk) 16:12, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

No it's not confirmed anywhere. They never decide the exact dates before hand anyway, and updates almost always release on Tuesdays. The editors from the other Minecraft wiki just like to make completely baseless inferences. Zegatrox (talk) 23:42, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Any seed picker information[]

Just as when Bedrock 1.11 broke many of the seeds in the seed picker, I expect 1.18 will do so as well. Or if not, it would cause some new seeds to be introduced.

Even 1.17, while it didn't change terrain, changed the location distribution of various structures (for example, two dungeons near the spawn point in "Ocean Monument Ahead" no longer generate in 1.17).

I'm not in the right circles to glean what's upcoming. Does anyone know of any changes to the seed picker in 1.18? Amatulic (talk) 12:58, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

Hmm, unfortunately I have no access to betas as I play on PS4. But I can very confidently expect that all of the seeds from the seed picker will be almost completely worthless, as most of them rely on biomes to function as they are described and biome distribution will completely changed. My long-term survival seed is Stronghold below, and I'm really interested in seeing how the seed itself will change after 1.18. If anyone can access the latest beta please inform us. It has the changes from experimental snapshot 1 according to Henrik Kniberg (still an early version with a lot of changes to be made), so maybe we shouldn't document anything just yet. 1.18 and pre-1.18 worlds[]

Will 1.18 break all/most pre-1.18 worlds? DaWaeToUganda69 (talk) 00:27, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

No. Apparently, the current plan is to have existing old worlds stay frozen at 1.17.40, while other worlds will update normally with the new caves beneath where bedrock was in the old terrain. The plan seems to be to have all of them as playable, just like with other updates.PegasusDust (talk) 00:45, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
That isn't how updates have worked in the past. Existing chunks remained unchanged, but any newly created chunks would be subject to the update. Why would this update be any different? Amatulic (talk) 01:24, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
Because that's how it works. They decided to replace Bedrock below existing chuncks with Deepslate and generate new terrain below Y=0. It harms virtually no one as the only blocks that are changing are the Bedrocks, so if you built in between the Bedrock it wouldn't be affected. The only real downside is if you made a base with the specific idea of being a Bedrock base, but that's too much nitpicking honestly. Would you rather have new terrain accessible just below your worlds, or not ruin a very simple aesthetic? Also, I think Kingbdogz said somewhere that this particular change will be optional, but I can't confirm that. By "Old worlds" we're talking about a completely different world-type; it's that 256*256*256 (these are the dimensions right?) world that absolutely no one uses. From your tone it sounds like you're skeptical or complaining or something, not sure if that's what you're trying to convey. Zegatrox (talk) 05:11, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
That's a fair comment. I think the main reason is that a large section of the community requested it, as well as how the other options turned out. It would probably be something to ask the developers about. I personally like the change, since I haven't built anything that relies on the bedrock at the bottom of the world and I want to test out the new caves under my base, but I can see why some players might be annoyed.PegasusDust (talk) 16:39, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

About player-made structures.[]

Since the worlds are getting higher and deeper, will player-made structures be affected? Maybe intact, or buried, or even destroyed? DaWaeToUganda69 (talk) 01:38, 31 October 2021 (UTC)

Literally just read any single FAQ they made or even some of the talks on this page. No, for the 1 quintillionth time, they are EXTREMELY respectful towards old worlds and they would never ruin your builds. The generation added to the bottom of the world will just replace the existing Bedrock with Deepslate then add new generation below that. I REPEAT, THIS WON'T AFFECT YOUR BUILDS! Seriously, so many people were requesting new generation below old worlds and just as many people are worried about it now. I understand people's worries, but just READ the discussions and you'll get answers, instead of just spamming the same repititive questions. Zegatrox (talk) 05:13, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
