Sponge is missing[]

Sponge should be mentioned in this page, because it is an animal in real life. 85.76.71.234 17:40, 4 August 2018 (UTC)

Actually, sponges in minecraft are not animals. They were removed again here. – Jack McKalling [ Talk Contrib ] 13:10, 20 August 2018 (UTC)

Revert to redirect[]

Looking through the history of this page, there seems to be a lot of edits adding mobs that aren't clearly animals (such as blazes and creepers). In my opinion, it would be better to redirect this to Mob#List of mobs, which lists all mobs anyway. However, this page does have a section on animal-inspired blocks that may make it worth keeping, though I'm not sure how useful that section is. –Sonicwave talk 00:39, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Support changing to a redirect for the reasons listed above. As far as the Blocks section, I don't see the use of it. Nobody who is searching for "Animal" is going to be looking for a list of animal-inspired blocks and having a list of these blocks here simply for the sake of having them listed somewhere is not useful imo.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 00:51, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Support. The blocks "animals" aren't animals in the minecraft sense at all and categorizing them as such as more confusing than anything. Either way, it doesn't give this page merit to exist alongside Mobs. -PancakeIdentity (talk) 01:08, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

Reopening sub page discussion[]

I think that it is beneficial to have sub pages. Every update adds new mobs to Minecraft. We can’t keep having a single mob page as pretty soon, there is going to be trouble loading the page due to the amount of information of it. Drour1234 (talk), 9 August 2021 (UTC)

If there's trouble loading the page, just split that page, instead of re-classifying these mobs without basis.--Chixvv (talk) 04:05, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
What do you mean by split the page? Drour1234 (talk), 9 August 2021 (UTC)
For example, split the mob page into Mob/List of mobs, Mob/Achievements, Mob/Advancements, etc.
If you list all the so-called animals here, the Mob page is still long.--Chixvv (talk) 04:21, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
I cannot split the page because the vanilla page won’t load on mobile. Also, why did you redirect the animal page when pages such as “undead mobs” and “aquatic mobs” exist? Personally, I think that an animal section on the mob page should exist over an arthropod section since arthropods are animals. Drour1234 (talk), 9 August 2021 (UTC)
Obviously, it's because undead mob and aquatic mobs are offical categories.--Chixvv (talk) 08:32, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
I think the Arthropod section should become the animal section since arthropod is too narrow of a category. Drour1234 (talk), 13 August 2021 (UTC)
I just noticed this discussion and that the page has been changed back to a disambiguation page. The problem with this page is that there is no established definition of "animal" and which mobs to include seems to be a matter of constant debate based on the edit history. As of now, it lumps fictional mobs such as endermites and striders as well as "animal blocks" with everything else. I personally doubt people who are looking for "animals" have endermites or sponges in mind. Given this, I think it's much simpler and clearer to just redirect it to the list of mobs. –Sonicwave talk 04:45, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
