Namecheap stole my domain and sold it to someone else

I have owned many domain names with namecheap over the years. They publicly mention that there is a grace period of 60-70 days after domain expiration, during which period I can recover a domain.

However, Namecheap auctioned off one of my domains well before this deadline, and now I can't get it back!

Never again.

We feel sorry that you had a negative experience with our services.

The satisfaction of our customers is always our main goal, and we would like to clarify that the grace period for domain names is 30 days which means that within this term you can renew your domain name without any additional fees on your side.

The next phase will be a Redemption period (for 30 days or sometimes more) within which it is still possible to renew the domain name, however with an additional fee this time.

If the domain is not recovered from redemption, it enters a PendingDelete stage at the Registry for 5 days. On the 6th day, the domain should be released to the public for re-registration.

That's why, domain name can be only removed from your Namecheap account without an option to get it back after day 60. It may be removed earlier without an option to renew it only in case it was suspended for abuse or any other kinds of actions which violate our policy.

I was with Namecheap since 2019

I was with Namecheap since 2019. Suddenly basic features like uploading a image in a post broke as well as uploading in the cPanel was broke for some time. I contacted them and for 8 days I told them the basic features uploads have stopped working, and the site was blocking many reputable websites like youtube.com post. So for 8 days I was transferred to agent after agent after agent. I finally said I intend to migrate to another host as they have failed miserably. Now on the 9th day I began the migrate to another host took less than 24 hours. Keep in mind my website is no longer with Namecheap at all now, yet they send me message after message for days they are working on my issue and the site is not on Namecheap. My point is they use generic responses and in many cases they are doing absolutely nothing except sending GENERIC BS Messages.

Amazing support!

Amazing support!

That was the first time I needed technical support from Namecheap, it was 10pm for me, and there was a real person assisting me to solve the problem, no long waiting queues, no delayed answers!

Namecheap has an incredible support team!

Namecheap chat support is incredibly helpful! It meant someone was continuously there to help during a server issue which had to be resolved before transferring to Alma Linux. Even though I was nervous and less than ideal to communicate with, they were patient and completely calm, and thanks to their help I suffered no data loss in the migration. Almost everything except some DNS was ready to go for all my cPanel accounts. It was the most trouble-free migration I have ever experienced. Thank you Namecheap.

Excellent help renewing the SSL for my websites.

The SSL for my websites came due for reissue. I attempted using the various procedures in the knowledge base, but was overwhelmed by the information there (too many system options to choose from). After several tries, I contacted chat support. Kateryna B. was very helpful in pointing to a different option in the cPanel that simplified the process. Help for an English major

I was an English major in college, so ask me about semi-colons and Shakespeare, and I can wax eloquently. But - managing a website and setting up Web Mail for my non-profit organization? Ha! I need much help. I have not yet stumped the folks who are available using the Chat feature in Namecheap. As a result, I have become unstumped myself! Every time I ask a question, I learn more ... and I'm actually getting the hang of all of this tech stuff! I've used one other domain registrar in the past, and my experience with Namecheap has proven their mission to be true - "to deliver the best domains at the best prices with the best service." With their documents, guides, and guidance, these folks can turn on the lightbulb above the head of this long-ago humanities student (and teacher). Their service is definitely five-star. THANK YOU, NAMECHEAP!

Great Customer Service

Great Customer Service - Ran into a problem with an expired SSL certificate. Vladyslav H. walked me thru it and stayed with me as I worked thru the steps. Answered a question along the way. Problem resolved in under 5 minutes. Namecheap continues to offer great support with knowledgeable reps. My go-to hosting site.

Namecheap are not trustable

Hi,
Purchased domain (growth.in) and paid for that but after payment error showing "Domain not available". Talked with support system (Diana, Manojkumar) but they are not responded any of query just simply shared 3rd party url and said you need to offer for domain on this link ..
if domain not available then why
- Why showing domain public domain available ?
- why you give error "domain not available" after payment done ?
- Namecheap are trustable ?

From what we can see in Whois lookup for the domain, it was registered back in 2017. It it is still registered at the moment, so the domain is indeed not eligible for purchase for now.

We apologize for any confusion with this. The domain was likely shown as available due to a system glitch. From what we can see, it was escalated in chat and our responsible team will look into this. As for the domain name, unfortunately, it cannot be registered through us right now.

Please rest assured, if it was not possible to purchase it, then any funds used for the purchase are always refunded. You can check with our team on more details and the timeframe for it.

Very bad support

Very bad support,
Told me I can sell the domain on an auction so I moved the domain to them and then they tell me the auction is clodsed to users.
I've paid already for the transfer and they don't want to refund. Very slow response, and not professional.

From the answer seems Namecheap still don't understand the problem.
They gave me false advertising that I can add my domain to the auction, the problem is not that they close the auction but the problem is with the false advertising and taking money for nothing.

Namecheap Superb support carries the day, anytime

Namecheap carries the day for their superb chat support. I have never, for once, stepped onto the livechat with their representatives and left without getting the help I needed.

If you love doing things by yourself, then Namecheap has a very intricate knowledgebase for you. But, if you aren't tech savvy, you'll just let the support team know and they'll do whatever that stands between you and things working.

These guys are doing a tremendous job in serving customers, whether tech savvy or not.

Use the NameCheap SSL Plugin - Enabling SSL Manually is PIA

I'm a tech and every year since Google had led the charge to (practically) force SSL on all websites, I've struggled with enabling SSL.

However, with my most recent chat with support, I think the process will be much easier in the future with the NameCheap SSL Plugin.

Awesome Support and no $$$ bait & switch like other registrars

Namecheap is awesome and their support is even better. Ramyaa was extremely helpful in explaining to me how to set things up so traffic to my new domain registered at Namecheap to run smoothly. All traffic to my site hosted in New York is securely funneled through Cloudflare.
Namecheap is awesome. It includes free domain registrant privacy protection and doesn't bait and switch with low intro prices and extremely expensive renewals.
