NetEase has announced that World of Warcraft Retail will return in China on August 1st with the War Within pre-expansion patch, with the expansion going live globally on August 26th. Johanna Faries (President of Blizzard Entertainment) and Chris Metzen (Executive Creative Director) joined the press conference to welcome Chinese players back to the game and provide more details about World of Warcraft's return.

- Wrath of the Lich King Classic is now live, players can access the game for free for two weeks
- A new catch-up bundle for WOTLK characters will be available once the free game time promotion is over
- Retail players will receive several collectibles for free:
- Ash'adar, Harbinger of Dawn
- "Bear of Good Fortune" mount (similar model to Big Blizzard Bear)
- Aura Battle Pet
- 500 bonus Trader's Tender every month for 12 months
- WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria world event will not be enabled
- Plunderstorm will return at a later date
