Congrats to the 4 urban high school seniors from Houston ISD, Charleston County School District, Norfolk Public Schools & Puerto Rico Department of Education for winning the 2024 CGCS-Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarship. They were selected from more than 300 applicants to receive $5,000 to pursue STEM studies this fall. We thank the Peter Pharis Foundation as well as Savvas Learning Company and Bernard Harris for funding this year’s program. As a degreed special educator and system leader, this is a topic that truly needs to be explored and addressed. Kudos to the Council of the Great City Schools for elevating the discussion. Every possible resource, including AI, should be explored to assist all students especially the most fragile.
