Our current education system will never produce the results young people of today desperately need. It’s time to build a future where public education makes it possible for all young people to thrive in life, pursue careers of their choosing, and shape our democracy. Here's what we can achieve together: https://ow.ly/HJcW50QyolW #EveryGenerationThrives #ThisIsTNTP #GuidedByPurpose

Each year, our nation grows more diverse. But our educator workforce is not keeping up. But rather than lamenting these gaps, we here TNTP are inspired by the opportunity we see to tap a rapidly growing pool of young and mid-career professionals who identify as people of color. Together, let’s build an educator workforce that will ensure every student in every classroom thrives: https://ow.ly/OhRH50QGtoc #DiversifyEd #GuidedByPurpose #CloseTheGap

When you think about your legacy, what do you want it to be? For Johari Toe, our Director of the Baltimore City Teacher Residency, her answer comes down to two words: acceptance and self-advocacy. "I hope those who engage with me along my life’s journey see the importance of being able to look in the mirror and love the person that is staring back at them, being able to wholly accept that mistakes will happen, but the joy of the journey is forgiveness and moving forward and celebrating small wins every day," she says. It's a legacy goal not only inspired by the work she's doing today, but also by the experiences she had back in the day. Here's her story: https://ow.ly/8sNC50SmZau #FlashbackFriday

On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved African Americans were delivered the news of their freedom marking Juneteenth a time of celebration symbolizes hope and liberation. Though its significance faded into national obscurity, kept alive only by the descendants of its initial celebrants, Juneteenth has reclaimed its place in history. From obscurity to grassroots activism, to a federal holiday, its journey is a testament to perseverance and community spirit. Let’s honor its legacy and celebrate! Happy Juneteenth! 🎉 #Juneteenth #NationalHoliday

At TNTP, we envision a PK–12 experience for every young person that upends the predictive influence of poverty and race on their life and fuels innovation and growth across our nation. We know we can’t achieve our bold vision within the traditional four walls of education. We must forge cross-sector partnerships that include the private sector and business. That’s why we're so proud to announce an exclusive partnership with America Succeeds to implement its Durable Skills framework. Together, we will design services that will enable school systems across the nation to integrate durable skills into every young person’s educational journey. We all must meet the moment and do far more to prepare young people to succeed in a rapidly changing world, no matter where their career paths may take them. And we can’t wait to do that with America Succeeds. Learn more: durableskillsadvantage.org #WorkforceReadiness #TNTPPartnerships #DurableSkills

What’s the point in trying?” 🤷🏽 That’s the question I often hear from the undocumented students I teach. It’s the same question I once asked myself. After all, I was one of them. My mother reminded me everything she’d done in her life was to see me succeed. And after I returned from a school trip to the Midwest, my father told me stories about picking fruits and vegetables there as a 14-year-old. I told them I would get a full scholarship to a university and make them proud. As a senior, I was accepted to a liberal arts college in Indiana—with close to a full ride, as promised. But it was not enough. A week after graduation, an admissions representative called to say I could not attend because I was not a citizen. There was that question again: What’s the point in trying? Today, on the anniversary #DACA, please take a moment to read more of Ramiro’s powerful piece entitled “I Was an Undocumented Student. Now I Teach Them.” https://ow.ly/Lx1250ShAow #AllMeansAll

During the 2023-24 school year, TNTP trained instructional coaches and 8th-grade math teachers at Van Horn Middle School. Thanks to the support from All Points North Foundation, TNTP Senior Manager of Academics Ranmali DeSilva made monthly visits to the campus for in-depth hands-on coaching, allowing us the opportunity to continue sowing seeds for every young person to access pathways to academic, economic, and social mobility. Directors Allison Corrales and Sondra McCoy said those in-person visits provided a sense of accountability for their team: "It's not here's the information, this is what we expect you to do," Corrales said. "It's here's the information. This is what should happen, and I'll be back in a couple of months to follow up on that." As a result, the school saw a difference in the classroom environments. In fact, 100% of teachers across the campus reported having high expectations of their students, up from 40% in the previous year, increasing students' access to rigorous Algebra I coursework and opportunities for advanced math courses in high school!
