WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association ITI welcomed the Federal Acquisition Regulatory (FAR) Council’s final rule to reform federal purchasing processes and regulations for sustainable products and services. This proposed rule implements requirements from Executive Order 14057, Catalyzing Clean Energy Industries and Jobs Through Federal Sustainability, and Executive Order 14036, Promoting Competition in the American Economy.

“ITI shares the Biden Administration’s commitment to ensuring U.S. government procurement is a critical tool to support sustainability goals and marketplace competition,” said ITI Vice President of Policy Chris Cleet. “This final rule supports rigorous corporate sustainability practices and allows for flexibility to both purchasers and manufacturers. We look forward to our continued collaboration with the FAR Council and the Biden Administration to develop policies that will further U.S. environmental leadership, enable competition, and leverage the U.S. government’s buying power to promote sustainability.”
