Not every build works with YOUR play style.
If you're looking to get some knowledge from a practiced player ( Tyrande main) then I'm going to give you some thoughtful ideas on her effectiveness and pitfalls.
Tyrande is not going to excel in any one area. Keep a strong balance of siege, hero dps, and healing. Don't expect to top charts. If you're the patient, calculated type player, you will survive with her. In my experiences, she lanes best with an assasin or someone that has a stun for good stunlock potentials. |
Bruh! That tier 2 talent is whack and goes against general consensus!
I don't disapprove of shield. I'll switch between ward and shield often, it just depends on my group. Ward is going to, obviously, provide more wealth to everyone, and is a stronger health buff than shield. Roughly 5% more HP to multiple heroes rather than 15% base to one. Shield is going to let you determine who is getting focused, and that's going to make it better than ward in that situation. Ward is going to be easier to gain benefits from, just dump it in a pit of people (hard to target) and throw heals as it comes off cd. Either one works, nerfed or not, ward is good.
Empower isn't terrible, but no where near better than Ranger's Mark. Celestial Attunement is no good, don't be fooled. Burn your mana if you must, then hearth back and regen.
Worthy mention:
Sentinel builds for dps are bleh - I'll explain why later. Pierce is not a good idea, despite what many may say. If you're so hellbent on kill shots, go for it. You may even score a ranged skill shot double kill every so often. My sentinel, personally, is usually sent after one fleeing player when I'm certain I have a chance of dropping him. A smarter Tyrande is going to use this tier to support her team. The Healing Ward is going to be your best bet. But again, use it early. Don't wait until your team is low on HP. At this point, the ward is not going to be as effective. Anticipate the incoming damage, you should know it's coming. Lay down the ward as soon as a group fight is about to blow out. If healing isn't going to be a problem in your group:
So difficult. Neither can go wrong. Starfall is wonderful in group fights, damaging buildings. I'm going with Shadowstalk, though. I want to know where enemies are to prepare ganks. The stealth makes for some great ambushes. This all depends on your play style. Neither one is bad. They're both equally great heroic abilities. Personal preference, truly.
Sentinel builds for dps are bleh
Why? It comes down to preference. How you play is entirely up to you. How you feed your team information depends on how well you play Tyrande. If you wanted to be a dpsing kill shot machine, maybe Tyrande wasn't your best hero choice. My sentinel is mostly used to scout. I'll send it out randomly across the map just to get vision of what's going on when things seem quiet. My lunar flare is more than capable to nuke a fleeing player low on hp. Throw in lunar flare has a better cooldown (unless talented which further complicates what Tyrande will be good at) and my style of sentinel use makes good sense.
Let's think logically and imagine this situation. You talented
Ok. This can be devastation, in fairness; however, if you miss that long sentinel shot (since you're going to need that distance buff to take place from ranger) you've effectively ruined yourself and what use are you to your team? You lack a better focus on sustainable dps, or support. Sentinel, and I will always stress this is just my opinion, is dps situational, and mostly needed for map vision. I know harassing Abathur is fun at range, but if that Abathur gets smart - he will juke your long sentinels when he realizes you're built to counter him. If he does that, he beats you by not even having to engage you - which is odd in theory?
I provided a solid sentinel build. Use rewind to get two distance sentinels on the map for damage. If you're going sentinel, and you skip rewind, you're pretty useless. Consider that.
Always remember you're squishy. Be in the back of the lines. Sometimes in group fights it is better to harass the other team's support/healers than joining in on the dps. Use Lunar Flare to interrupt heal heroics. Keep Hunter's Mark up (aka on cool down) as best you can. Be the first person to retreat and fire heals from safety. Most likely your team mate has a defensive ability to get out of trouble. YOU DON'T. The most dangerously played Tyrande is the one that ambushes. Remember that. Beware tunnel vision when chasing an enemy waiting for either sentinel or flare to come off cool down for a kill shot. These are the times you're risking your positioning and potentially running into your own death that you will struggle to get away from.
Use sentinel often, even when it doesn't make sense. Seeing movement and knowing positions is such an advantage. If you aren't pressing this advantage, you aren't playing Tyrande to her full potential.
Single target DPS Rotation
basic attack until Huntress' Fury buff wears off. - repeat
How you place Starfall determines its effectiveness. Place it in a way they will have to run all the way through it to escape your pounce. This will help slow them and get your buffed basic attacks off.
Set us up the Tyrande gank!
The blue dot denotes you, red is your target hero. Your best dps will come when you're planted down and range attacking with basics (yes, obvious.) Your bread and butter gank will be to pounce from the lane closest to your enemies base and force him to either engage you, or panic and make the mistake of trying to run to safety. The quadrilaterals (in bright green) denote your effective basic attack range (you may have to move slightly, of course.) If the enemy player b-lines for safety, that's a gank. He wont make it, granted you land your skill shots.
If this is a middle lane and he runs north, you intercept by moving slightly north keeping him in your attack range and force contact (don't 1v1 unless very favorable, get him low and flee.) Apply hunter's mark when he is in range. The smart escape is to head south which would normally force you to chase and lose your auto attack advantage. Note the star. Send a sentinel that way and track him. Don't chase on foot. Mount and set up the same exact position on the next lane. Use the sentinel to see if he double backs to try to trick you - know which lane he is fleeing to. This is a SOLID early game gank strategy which allows you to move back and forth between lanes throwing heals and support to teammates while harassing enemy heroes that may have put themselves out of position. Ping him and let your teammates know you want him dead. Don't sacrifice yourself for the gank. If you run into enemies, back it off and try again when you get a good vision off the map. This is effective Tyrande harassing.
