The Chemistry standardization project aims to overhaul and standardize new and existing pages relating to chemistry.
Scope[]
This project is for articles that are about:
- Elements, whether real or fictional (eg. Hydrogen)
- Anti-elements (eg. Anti-Hydrogen)
- Isotopes, whether real or fictional (eg. Deuterium)
- Compounds, whether real or fictional (eg. Aminocyclopyrachlor)
And their corresponding categories:
- Element categories (eg. Category:Hydrogen)
- Isotope categories (eg. Category:Isotopes of Hydrogen)
- Compound categories (eg. Category:Compounds containing Hydrogen)
Layout for articles[]
Name conflict hatnote[]
If the feature has a different name, add this to the very top:
If the feature has multiple different names, append this in addition to the above:
Infobox[]
Use {{Infobox element}}
for all chemistry articles. Go to the template page for usage documentation.
Lead section[]
The lead section (the section after the title but before the table of contents) is standardized as follows:
Article type | Lead section (in raw wikitext) |
---|---|
Elements | |
Anti-elements | |
Isotopes | |
Compounds |
Additional material information may be added after the linking verb, but must be before the standardized form above. For example:
Additional general supporting information may be added at the next paragraph.
Body[]
After the lead section (and the table of contents), the body is standardized as a series of level 2 headings per mod in alphabetical order:
If the article feature is also in Vanilla Minecraft, the Vanilla heading must be the first before all other mod headings:
See also appendix[]
The See also level 2 heading section must be shown and is standardized as follows:
Article type | See also list (in raw wikitext) (prepend with == See also == )
|
---|---|
Elements | |
Anti-elements | ELEMENT referring to the base element name, not the anti-element name |
Isotopes | <element> referring to the base element name, not the isotope name |
Compounds | Same as in Elements but for each element in the compound. |
If other categories of See also link lists are added, segregate the standardized lists above in a level 3 heading called Elemental composition, then add the other link lists in their own level 3 headings. (eg. Water#See_also)
[]
The footer (below the See also section) is standardized as follows:
Layout for categories[]
Categories are standardized as follows:
Article type | Category name (auto-categorized by {{Infobox element}} ) |
Layout (in raw wikitext) |
---|---|---|
Elements | Category:ELEMENT |
|
Anti-elements | Categorized in the Elements category | |
Isotopes | Category:Isotopes of ELEMENT |
|
Compounds | Category:Compounds containing ELEMENT |
AutoHotKey scripts[]
Several AutoHotKey scripts have been created to semi-automate some parts of the layout. See Feed The Beast Wiki:AutoHotKey for more information.
FAQs[]
What if an article/category doesn't exist?
- Create the article/category following the layout above!
What if the feature has only one mod?
- Still follow the layout. Chances are that the feature will get added or extended by another mod in the future (or there is already another mod that hasn't been documented yet in the wiki), especially if it exists in real life.
What if a category only has one member?
- The category will continue to be populated as more and more pages get added and standardized.
