Adminship request[]

You're welcome :) -- Ghouly89 (Talk) 21:01, March 3, 2011 (UTC)

To commemorate this glorious day when you achieved adminship, I have made a tribute to you (I'm nick-naming you the Vault boy because of how much time you have put in at the Vault)

Quest ID's[]

In the GECk under Actor data>quest, just type NVDLC01 into the filter to only show the Dead Money quests. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 21:10, March 4, 2011 (UTC)

Sierra Madre card image[]

Why use the Collector's Edition deck joker 2 artwork? The Sierra Madre cards all share the generic in-game red card art (at least on the PC version). The only unique thing about them is the 'SM' design on the backs, which seems like a more appropriate choice. 68.127.154.118 15:23, March 5, 2011 (UTC)

If your on a mission with the cards, personally I would place the back in the info box as they are all the same, then put all the faces in as a gallery. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:48, March 5, 2011 (UTC)
Cant you? for me it is still showing the option (even for your page) if you want I can do it for you. And I noticed you got the perk pics going now, the first 2 need to be redone though (Coin Operator and Sierra Madre Martini). The white is kinda washed out if you look at it on the actually page with the green background, seems you missed selecting all the layers. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:19, March 5, 2011 (UTC)
Done, and yeah it is, it should show right under rename. As for the perk images, have a go at them, but if you run into problems, just let me know and I will take a look at them.
As for the Dean holograme, I took a pic right out of the GECK that was no different to yours. But I had to photoshop it to get the same feel as in game, by applying colour replacements and creating pattern fills. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:39, March 5, 2011 (UTC)

Vault boy[]

Here's an updated, personal vault boy pic for your user page infobox. I've tested it out, and it looks quite fine, if I must say ;) -- Ghouly89 (Talk) 07:59, March 6, 2011 (UTC)

Well, you are an inspirational figure. ;) I appreciate your dedication to the wiki!
Now, your edit count begs the question: are there any images left you haven't already uploaded? -- Ghouly89 (Talk) 18:09, March 6, 2011 (UTC)
I don't mind at all :) In fact, I'll help you set up a good rig for uploading screenshots of large areas, and I'll teach you how to look though the the older gamess files as well ;)
I want all the help I can get with the classic Fallout games, and knowing that you could help one day means it has a greater possibility of being finished ;) -- Ghouly89 (Talk) 18:23, March 6, 2011 (UTC)

Fire ants[]

This is my first time playing fallout 3 and I need some help about the fire ants task. I just left the vault and found the lady named silver and I ended up getting lose. I found bryan and I went into the town and got surprised by the fire ants. I couldn't find his house at first and by the time I did find the house Im low in health and have no ammo for my weapon and only have the police baton. Should I come back to the quest later or do you think I should just get it over with now and continue to find some ammo and more health. Sorry this is for the ps 3 and thanks for the help--Hawk1230 16:52, March 6, 2011 (UTC)

Unblock[]

Yep, you're right. I had meant to block the one who added the false "Stubsy" information, but didn't notice that another anon had edited the page in the meantime, so I just blocked the last anon to edit the page. I've unblocked him; thanks for pointing out the mistake. Hal10k (Leonard Bernstein!) 19:02, March 6, 2011 (UTC)

Yep I saw, hopefully that will clear down the unused image, although you need to watch out on those. I have noticed that it sometimes bugs out and says a image is unused, even when used. I noticed it on some weapon images I added. So me thinking that someone had vandalised the page, I went to re-add them and noticed that they where still there and the page had been unedited for 4 days. So I checked the files to see if it showed them as linked there and it didn't, so I did a quick null edit (edit and publish with no changes) and it finally updated the file page to say it was being used. Other than that, I need to check with Porter about the Wiki images (logo, background etc.) to see if they are actually unused, some may be used via CSS styling. Wanted images[]

I noticed you have been sorting out the wanted images as well, my plan is to clear it so it can be checked against the unused images. As per the bug I told you about yesterday with unused images actually being used, hopefully it will work. So thanks for the help and can you take a look at this one 1, its on a locked page I cant edit =( User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 16:41, March 7, 2011 (UTC)

P.S. and forgot to add, delete the link here as well hihi.

The 1 image links are mostly user sig images, of which half where not even present in the first place. The other half of them where deleted by Kris as unused because they only existed in archive talk pages. Kinda makes me wonder why he didn't spend the time actually deleting real unused images from the unused image list. The rest I am either replacing with superseded images or the image actually exists and just requires the page to be created with cats and licenses added (mostly FO3 misc item images). User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:03, March 7, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks my friend ;)[]

Hello Jspoelstra and thank you for your message =), even I'm simply spend, and congratulations for your admin promotion.

For now I don't have much time to myself and I'm on other projects, but my love for Fallout didn't change. Otherwise, the Wiki is in good hands, excellent person like you or GhostAvatar, who do a remarkable work and have a sincere love for Fallout, so I don't have to worry about the fate of The Vault ;), despite I miss all this.

Also, I'm a small disabused of the fact that Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel is not so considered, even on this Wiki (some information is deleted while it's a Fallout like the others) and having to beat me every time either here or on another French site exhaust me, and nobody adds informations on this despite that many people have played this.

Otherwise, I enjoyed making artciles such as our friend Tagaziel but on all RPG not just the Fallout games, but alas I don't master English as well as him and makes them in French do lack of flavor.

I'll come by here and there, at the pleasure of seeing you, keep up the good and see you soon! Sayonara my friend ;). Itachou [~talk~] 18:18, March 7, 2011 (UTC)

Weapon mods[]

The issue is that all the weapon mod have no change to the actual weapon models, they are all pretty much internal upgrades, so there is nothing to take a picture of. I assume they did it this way to reduce the amount of models needed for the DLC, considering it came out pretty quick (well on Xbox it did). So the only image available is the standard gun runners special parts chase, I can do a picture for that if you wish. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:17, March 7, 2011 (UTC)

How about this, it does both. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:55, March 7, 2011 (UTC)

Done. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 23:07, March 7, 2011 (UTC)

Fallout 2 images[]

Looks like you already got started with uploading some pictures ;)

But before you have uploaded hundreds of them, I have a few suggestions:

1) Please upload images of the classics in .PNG, or another loss-less file format. Having them in .JPG format is detracting from the already lacking graphics in the game ;)
2) I generally prefer to use naming conventions for character images: i.e. "FO01 NPC Judy.png", or "FO02 NPC Mrs. Bishop.png". I feel it helps distinguish exactly what the image is, and where it is from better than just the standalone character name.

Other than that, I'm thrilled that you're working on the classics with me :) -- Ghouly89 (Talk) 08:22, March 8, 2011 (UTC)

Hehe thanks![]

Bonsoir Jspoelstra =) (quite nice to use French words ^^, what origin are you?)

Thanks ;), yes it's strange enough, each DLC was always filled quickly, either in image or information, but Dead Money seems to be the exception that proves the rule. I felt bad that the Sierra Madre, beautifully built by Chris Avellone, had not extended much background, having a ton of information through the loading messages (two dozen) and terminal messages.

Same thought for Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, in addition, it can not be played on emulator (at least for the PS2 version, which is that I own), but what is unfortunate is that those who played are not contributors to The Vault (I know some, but are not interested for participate on a Wiki). I would have to find a way to take videos and screenshots (I have several saves covering all the game). For now, most of the screenshot of the game we have come from official screenshot. But one day I'll make it!

Anyway, your messages make me want to stay a little longer, I'm going out my old game guide for Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel and tried to glean some information about Dead Money, I'm on the end in my 2nd game on this DLC, there may be a few things I have not seen.

Well, I wish you a good evening and see soon my friend, à la prochaine potos ;) Itachou [~talk~] 17:36, March 8, 2011 (UTC)

Categories[]

If Omertas characters and Gommorrah characters are exactly the same list, then the faction category page can be made a redirect to the location category page. If the two lists differ, even by one character, then they should both exist separately.--Gothemasticator 01:44, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

Gommorrah doesn't seem to need splitting as much as the others do. What do you think?--Gothemasticator 01:56, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

Vandal localized[]

There's this vandal named "Slim pickle" who has been vandalizing numerous pages in the last minutes. We tried to talk some sense into him but proceeded to make more trouble anyway. Please help. gears of duty

Locations[]

Just a FYI, if you add or find any more locations can you please add them to Navbox locations FNV as well. I completely redid the template 2 days ago, so it should be fully up to date. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 23:57, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

Lol, yeah I had a few days to myself and spent it adding the navbox to all the location pages. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 00:52, March 10, 2011 (UTC)

Paper notes / holodisks[]

Yeah, "holodisks and notes" was the name I had in mind for the categories and overview pages :) Regarding the playing cards, I think it'd best to create a separate overview page called Playing card (or FNV playing cards) with a section/table for each deck.

By the way, thanks for patching up the skill book links :) -- Porter21 (talk) 10:08, March 10, 2011 (UTC)

I've added the cell IDs to Fallout: New Vegas cell ID. I assume you meant "base IDs" when you were talking about "quest IDs"? -- Porter21 (talk) 14:00, March 10, 2011 (UTC)
I'll take a look in a bit. -- Porter21 (talk) 15:00, March 10, 2011 (UTC)
Added to Fallout: New Vegas quest IDs. -- Porter21 (talk) 15:46, March 10, 2011 (UTC)
The GECK actually has some inbuilt export functions ("File" > "Export"), which includes options for the things you asked for. I used the "Interior and Exterior Cell Data" and "Quest Stages" options, and then converted the resulting files into wiki format with a regular expression-capable text editor (jEdit). -- Porter21 (talk) 16:06, March 10, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks[]

Hey, just sayin thanks for the info on page deletion. And I see you have you adminship to, so congrats. 0verlord Gouki 20:23, March 10, 2011 (UTC)

Dead Money[]

The issue is because the pages do not exist, those top links should link to the overview page for the game title based on Abb template naming. Since the information is contained in the FNV overview pages, it is best to probably create the page to redirect to the required Dead Money section in the FNV overview page, such as I have done for Dead Money locations. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 00:34, March 11, 2011 (UTC)

Wow, I have just realised that no one has even added a single quest from Dead Money to the quest overview page. That whole page also needs a good clean up, especially the headers and use of level 1 headers. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 00:42, March 11, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah I am looking at cleaning that page up a lot. And with the links, it isn't that hard, just change the infobox on a page to FNVDM to red link it. Then click on the red link to create the page, simply create the page with the content #redirect Fallout: New Vegas quests or #redirect Fallout: New Vegas quests#Dead Money (#Dead Money part will auto load the page to that section if the header exists) and you are all done. Try it out, if you have any problems I will sort it out. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 01:30, March 11, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, like GA said those links are red simply because the pages do not exist. On a side note, if we decide to use the add-on abbreviations (rather than the main game one), we'll have to change this for all the FO3 add-on pages as well.
And yes, the FNV quests page should look much more like Fallout 3 quests. I noticed its bad shape yesterday as well... -- Porter21 (talk) 11:39, March 11, 2011 (UTC)

racist image to be removed[]

Better look at the image just prior to the last one you uploaded. I don't think it's appropriate..... not your image, of course.... someone else's.....<<<<<<< Nothing like a little good-natured censorship to get the morning started right.

Hello and grats on your adminship !

Thought you should know, an 'anon' user is possibly puttind/editing inappropriate material in the Novac page right now. *Edit* Sorry, it was the page on Ulysses...but I went back to read it again and all the material I previously read was gone...bad day to stop taking LSD I guess...lol ! JK'ing !

Sinclair revert[]

Hello my friend ;)

Thanks! I searched a lot in the GECK to find maximum informations on the DLC. The loading message " NVDLC01LoadScreenWT02 " confirmed the Sierra Madre and the Casino are build by two different companies and by Sinclair, and it's easy to find that the Villa was made by the bad company, since there is a terminal (the note " NVDLC01ETPersonalLog02Note " in the GECK) that says the construction is poor, and in the casino no problems reported (the design is also slightly different between the Villa and the Casino).

Otherwise, given the number of loading message and notes, I lost my eyes in the business ^^. Good evening my friend and see you soon! Itachou [~talk~] 19:47, March 11, 2011 (UTC)

FNV character overview page[]

lol, sorry i didn't realise you was still editing it. Kinda on a table high after the quest tables. Yeah I can start at the bottom with ease, wont take me long to make up the tables, its just adding the data. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 21:22, March 12, 2011 (UTC)

Let me know when you are done and then I will dump all the tables into one for the base game and put them in alphabetical order by name. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:24, March 12, 2011 (UTC)
No worrys, however it is something to note that in the FO3 page, no one has filled out the locations in the tables. Once that is done and put into a sortable table, people can then sort by location or any of the other headers of the table. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:47, March 12, 2011 (UTC)
The "locations" column on the FO3 page is a left-over from the old Form ID page. The editor who created it only used it for the "Capital Wasteland" characters if I recall correctly (since just "CW" is a bit imprecise :P), and probably considered it redundant for the location-specific sections. I simply kept it that way when I merged the old Form ID page with FO3 characters; I do like your approach better though :) -- Porter21 (talk) 22:56, March 12, 2011 (UTC)

You know I have been thinking about the tables in that page, honestly I think the whole layout really needs to be re-done. Things like "G.E.C.K. ID" are pretty much irrelevant especially for non PC players, plus having the icons next to the name don't really utilise the full potential of what a table can do to convey information.

Personally I like sortable tables for such things where only certain subjects have certain attributes, that way a reader can order the view to obtain the information they desire. For example, if a reader needed to know where the nearest merchant was, he can order the table for merchants and then see which one is the closest. So with that in mind I have come up with this as a rough draft for a new table layout and was wondering what your thoughts was on changing it to something like this. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:22, March 13, 2011 (UTC)

Name Dead Spawned Essential Doctor Merchant Repair Group Plays caravan Base ID Ref ID Location
Chet No No No No Yes No No No 00104C78 00104C79 Goodsprings

Looks fine to me :) I'd move the "Location" column to the left of the ID ones though - the ID is the rightmost column on most (if not all) other overview pages, seems more consistent to me. -- Porter21 (talk) 18:06, March 13, 2011 (UTC)
I agree with what you are saying about the mass red, unfortunately changing those icon images isn't really a option since it would affect a large amount of pages. So the only solutions I can think of is either a new cross icon especially for the page, the issue is having intuitive names for the icons so other contributors understand the purpose of the icon, since no is already taken and corresponds to yes. Or just leave the cells blank which may confuses readers and contributors thinking the data is incomplete etc., really needs a negative response to fill the cell to correspond to the positive icon. I think Porter would be the best person to find a good solution.
As for the GECK ID, I have no issue with that, as long as there is enough room to fit it in without detracting from the table. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:32, March 13, 2011 (UTC)
I don't think the GECK IDs are that important, to be honest. The only overview pages where they are used are ones where you have a lot of entries with identical/unspecific names (keys, holodisks), so you can tell one from the other. I don't think that's the case for named characters (although it might be for generic characters if such a page is ever created). The base ID is sufficient for looking things up in the GECK in my opinion.
Regarding the red cross icons, I'm not sure how to find a red cross icon which is not red :) If you think one of the icons here would look better, we could always exchange it. -- Porter21 (talk) 18:59, March 13, 2011 (UTC)
Thinking about it, I am tending to think something more like the star system already in place OptionalSometimes required or at least one requiredRequired. That way you can use the semi for things like temporary followers etc. However we will probably need to duplicate those icons and have more intuitive names for them for fellow editors to utilise and understand there use. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 19:01, March 13, 2011 (UTC)
Well, I think using a star system would be less intuitive than having "yes/no"-type indicators. How about a "green +"/"red -" system rather than the vote icons, with a differently colored + (yellow or something) for "yes, but not always"? Sure, we'd have to replace the icons on other overview pages as well, but that isn't hard to do by bot. -- Porter21 (talk) 23:50, March 13, 2011 (UTC)
How about using the icons you uploaded for votes? I think they'd be more suitable for that. Then we could use commons:File:Green check.svg, commons:File:Orange check.svg and commons:File:Red x.svg for overview pages - that red X at least isn't as massive as our current one. -- Porter21 (talk) 20:50, March 14, 2011 (UTC)

I like the last variant most; I think if that cross was a little smaller and "straight" (rather than slightly curved) it'd be even better. An added advantage of using the checkmark icon from Commons is that there's a large variety of colors available, which we could use for things like temporary followers etc, like GA suggested. -- Porter21 (talk) 12:31, March 15, 2011 (UTC)

Got to go with the last one as well, there isn't a overwhelming feel of red nor is the red cross lost in a dull red tone. I think both the cross and tick could also replace the current ones as used in polls etc. With various colour options for the images, don't need to worry about that to much, I can easy upload coloured variants of which one is chosen. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:27, March 17, 2011 (UTC)
Hmmmm... not to keen on having the columns combined for more than 1 variable. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 23:43, March 17, 2011 (UTC)
Looks perfect, just a quick question, what is the recent for the Miscellaneous locations section? I would have thought it would be better to put all of them in a single table. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 20:30, March 18, 2011 (UTC)
To be honest, I wouldn't take any note of the FO3 page, to me that is a terrible example of a overview page. If anything that page should be more like the FNV page is now. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 20:43, March 18, 2011 (UTC)
Hey, at least the current FO3 page was way better than the previous version (which was just a bulleted list without any additional information) :P -- Porter21 (talk) 11:17, March 22, 2011 (UTC)

Looks good to me. I'd simply have replaced the current yes/no icons though - there's not much point in having multiple icons for essentially the same thing in my opinion, plus that way all other overview pages would automatically be updated with the new icons.

Regarding the "misc locations", I agree that it should be merged with the other base game table. -- Porter21 (talk) 11:17, March 22, 2011 (UTC)

I would go with the ones you currently have in the main character page, especially if they are going to replace the yes/no icons, making them to light wouldn't work to well for votes/polls etc. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:46, March 22, 2011 (UTC)
Ohhh and a quick tip, you change change the tooltips on the icons when you hoover you cursor over them, for example the icon being used for companions says "group" when you hoover over it. To change this just add to get this as a result Companion User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:51, March 22, 2011 (UTC)
I like the one on Fallout: New Vegas characters the most. Regarding companions, I think a separate icon would be best here - I think we should avoid using the same icon with different meanings as far as possible. In addition, Icon companion seems to better symbolize "companion" than the group icon from my point of view. -- Porter21 (talk) 21:35, March 22, 2011 (UTC)
I've updated Icon. We'll have to remember to check up on File:Icon yes.png and File:Icon no.png to see whether some pages use the icons directly (and replace those instances), but I guess we'll have to wait a bit until the affected pages have been re-cached. I've also copied your new version from User:Jspoelstra/sandbox1 to Fallout: New Vegas characters (I renamed the cross icon, which resulted in a lot of redlinks with the old version). -- Porter21 (talk) 14:40, March 23, 2011 (UTC)

Don't you think it might get confusing for the image names to be named by another character. I was thinking of either changing the image of the duplicates by 1 pixel to get them off the list or changing them to .jpg images. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:38, March 13, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I agree where the name isn't important, I have actually done most of those from the duplicate file list (with the exception of the bugged out dump truck etc 0.o). User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:55, March 13, 2011 (UTC)

The Steel monk and Vera images have been added to pages and should be gone tomorrow, the other 3 are needed for background images via CSS, so technically they are being used. With that I now consider the unused images to be empty.... finally =D User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:33, March 17, 2011 (UTC)

Hello Jspoelstra ;)
Nice job for clearing the unused images with GhostAvatar, it's no more a pain in the ass. Good evening and see soon! Itachou [~talk~] 01:34, March 18, 2011 (UTC)

Oh yes, too, tries to convince GhostAvatar to become an admin, it's good for him ^^! I can't do it and yet allow him to work more easily. Soon on the Vault! Weapons infobox[]

Just a FYI, you don't need to have the pipeline "|" for the ammo in the infobox, simply put in the page name and the infobox does it all (auto links, removes bracketed info etc.) User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 16:58, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

Ahhhh yeah, I have had those as well. There is a issue with a accounts settings not working. The only way I have found to get rid of them is to go to "My preferences" and reset all default setting (works 9 times out of 10), be warned this will reset everything including your profile picture. But you may find that in a couple of days it might happen again, well that's what happened to me any ways. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:33, March 19, 2011 (UTC)
The way I look at things like Ausirs (and many others who upload pictures and leave them sitting there) image, is that he uploaded 12 hours ago and has been active in the last 3 hours. That's plenty of time in my books to find a home for the image. Besides if it is needed, it a standard Adobe PDF icon that anyone can google and re-upload again if needed. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 17:48, March 19, 2011 (UTC)
I don't think every image necessarily has to be used in an article. Of course, ideally they should, but just not being in one is not reason enough for deleting it. For example, we should have all released concept art for each of the games in the proper concept art category, even if it's not being used in any article. Ausir(talk) 19:26, March 19, 2011 (UTC)
File:FALLOUT2A.pdf is not a PDF icon, it's an actual PDF file of the Fallout movie treatment. It's not transcluded on any page, since PDF files generally cannot be, but it is linked from the Fallout film treatment page. Please be more careful with what you tag for deletion. Ausir(talk) 19:30, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

Jack and Diane[]

It may be intended to be a reference, but we haven't been listing it, because no corroborating details have been forthcoming. In general, our trivia policy states that name-only similarities don't get mentioned, because it's so little to go on. Is there anything else about the pair that recalls the song?--Gothemasticator 18:21, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

Weapons[]

Yeah, just tracking down and making sure I get all the scripts that relate to the weapons first. I can link to NV robots page, but unfortunately there isn't a overview page specific for power armor per game. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 19:20, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

Vault Boy of Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics[]

Hello my friend ;)

I also sent this message to GhostAvatar, so we combine our expertise for a small project.

Since you managed to put in black and white and transparent background all Vault Boy of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, I always thought it unfortunate that those of Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics were not so lucky.

Overall I have in my possession all the originals, but my expertise does not allow me to put the same quality and you have done. The best thing I can do without altering the original quality is putting them in black and white, with few pixel here and there.

Here are two examples of Vault Boy which I performed my operation, Cult of Personality and Mental Block:

Cult of Personality

Mental Block

Your skills are superior to mine and I don't use Adobe Photoshop, I wondered if you could succeed when they are in this form then they can put them in the same format as Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, ie black and white with transparent background. If so, this would be great and we can replace all old Vault Boy by those, and I'll put them each time in black and white and you have more than done your operations.

What do you think my friend? Already don't sell the bear's skin, get what you can do better with these two images, but I'm sure you will succeed =).

Nice day my friend and see soon! Itachou [~talk~] 14:55, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

Hey Jspoelstra, thank you for you interested ;)
Actually with 2 minutes more I could manually remove the pixel, can try to put a transparent background with the Mental Block?
[2]
But at worst it doesn't matter, if you can not put it in transparent, I would only have to put in black and white and white background, it will be already better than the previous. Itachou [~talk~] 15:40, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

In fact, many old Vault Boy are already published by the devs in black and white, and used on The Vault like (then these are the result of any person, only developers):

[[File:ActionBoy. and many others.

Since I'm a great fan of the Vault Boy, I've already spoken with Ausir long ago, and some with Ghost before it's over 1000 edits. The Vault policy for Vault Boy image is to have the Vault Boy in black and white with transparent background or white background. Those with the yellow background are replaceable, although this is not a priority.

But thanks of your test and my test, and overall, I just saw that it would be better to leave them with a white background, the overall quality is much better and the quality of the base image can not allow no have enough quality to be properly placed on a transparent background.

I'm going to do it alone I think I do, sorry to disturb you my friend but thank you, as usual you are listening and you take your time to others, it's nice from the chosen one (Matrix ^^, great movie at the time and creator of the bullet time).

Nice day my friend and see soon :)! Itachou [~talk~] 16:33, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

You're welcome my friend ^^, I still remember it was when Ghost began just replace the Vault Boy images of Porter21 of Fallout 3 by his (the 1st was Black Widow).

Thanks for the fast answer. :) Nah, me and this other dude wanted to know, if Dead Money comes on a disc, just like the Add-Ons for Fallout 3 did. Right now, the only option is to download it from Xbox Live, what is impossible for me because I don't have Xbox Live. Seems like I got to wait for a disc. --Felix. 20:54, March 22, 2011 (UTC)

That displays that error on the template page is perfectly normal/harmless (although I've now changed it so it doesn't do that anymore), so I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at. hi, you put a welcome thing for me on my talk page, and there's this thing I've been wondering, is there some kind of a rule? no biased views on the post, or no reference to real life drugs or guns or something, where do I find a page that represents all the ruels? and how do i make a image appear after my 4 tilides? World objects[]

Thanks, its something that has kinda been nagging at me for a while now, along with all the merge tags. Its the kind of topic that I think no one has been 100% sure what to do with it. So I have decided to treat it like the FNV items page and break it down into a few separate subjects, then have overview pages for those topics like we do for weapons, armor etc. Obviously atm the moment I am doing the misc items overview, already done the Fallout: New Vegas vehicles page overhaul, posters are already covered. Just need to look at the interactive and container world objects and I think that should cover all of it really.

As for the admin stuff, the only thing really holding me back atm is writing up the request and posting it in the forum. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 16:51, March 27, 2011 (UTC)

Jack and Diane[]

I saw that my cousin had the same idea as me (he was the anonymous one) but how is the Jack and Dianne thing too uncertain? the pcs are made to look like the 2 people in his music video down to their eye color, Jack not so much because his hair is as close as it could get using the in game presets (and the guy in the videos facial hare is VERY thin, but does exist), Diane however is is almost identical, the only difference being the length of her hair.

Silentstrike0 02:20, March 28, 2011 (UTC)

Rebel AE[]

Yeah I can see the point there as well, to be honest it isn't even my image, I saw it on another profile and borrowed it. Although on the other side of the argument, you could argue it is no worse than some of the content in the game. The difference between his and mine, is his image was put up with all intense purposes to troll and provoke a response from me, no different than him reposting it with the provoking comments to you about is DUCK/PUCK offensive. As you can see with his current profile page under quests, they are here for no other purpose than to provoke arguments, troll and annoy. They honestly thing they are being smart and a rebel (probably hence the name) trying to fighting the power, it old news really and been done to death. But if you still think I should remove it, then no worrys I will remove it. Other than that, thanks for stepping in, didn't think it would be needed or go that far, but he didn't pay attention when I told him to change his attitude. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 00:17, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, hopefully he will cool off, although for some reason I don't hold high hopes that he will do. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 00:32, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

The decimals on the weapon's weight in New Vegas: is this necessary?[]

Just a question: do we need the decimal on the weapons weight in New Vegas?

Thanks! -MickeyHikaruMouse March 28, 2011 19:09 (7:09 pm) (UTC)

It is standard practise on any page not to display decimals, unless it represents anything more than a zero. Example would be the DPS formulas, they don't display decimals unless there is actually a value to the decimal places. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 03:13, March 29, 2011 (UTC)
I am just about to head off since it gone 4 am here, but I will pick them up as I work through the pages. You don't need to worry about them to much unless you have some spare time, its not a high priority since it isn't wrong information, its just redundant information that needs formatting correctly. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 03:33, March 29, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah I noticed those when they where added, my general thought is that the information isn't wrong as it is showing the mods in there other form. Granted they may not be needed and are kinda superfluous, but given the actual topic and pages are pretty much bare, I don't think it is over the top to flesh them out with such detail. Uploading now, lets see how long this takes. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 00:14, April 2, 2011 (UTC) P.S. that is so much better with the talk page link =D

Lol, tried 4 times with it doing nothing but going right back to the upload page, just realised the actual file is over the 10 mb limit by 12 meg. So I am going to haft to look at doing some major compression (if it is at all possible to compress it that much) before uploading it. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 00:25, April 2, 2011 (UTC)

I can get it down to 14 meg, which unfortunately is still to big. I would say the best course of action is to remove the link in the infobox, since all the pages are there to view on the page anyway, it doesn't make much difference. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 01:02, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
Nice. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 15:32, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
You are always going to lose some quality when you reduce the file size of something, the only thing you can hope for is that it isn't noticeable. Which at first glance of the uploaded file, it isn't, but defiantly stay with the originals for the images on the page as you are never going to get better than those. Normally I do not report people, but this is getting a little bit out of control.

Ahhh, you have to remove those parts from the model, its the same way I managed to do the weapon mod images by removing the gun from around the mod. Most models are made up of a few parts, press F2 to open up the block list which will show the parts that make up the model. Now just scroll through the list (ohh make sure you have the setting view>block list>show blocks in list) until you see a wire mesh around the parts you want gone, for armor they are mostly called meathead or meatbody etc, then hit ctrl+delete to get rid of them. the roumer of there being a possible 7 DLC's may be linked to the number of companions in fallout new Vegas. Yeah, a lot of people tried to combine FO3 and FNV items into one page, thinking they where essentially the same thing. Thing is, DT and DR are 2 completely different things, so in my view combining them is wrong, plus you will find a few have slightly different stats. Best thing is to move the roving trader to and (Fallout 3) pagename, and move what information in relevant to the FNV page, then make roving trader a dis-ambiguous page. Delete?[]

Did u see this Recompense of the Fallen that was created by anonymous user just now? should delete it, we already have an article on the subject.(Nemerian 18:47, April 7, 2011 (UTC))

I have nominated it for deletion. It already exists. Greets gears of duty

Armour images and flesh[]

Uh, couldn't you, y'know, edit out the disembodied limbs and flesh? It looks kind of freaky. I suggest just making a 10x10px transparent .dds file and linking the flesh to it. Or deleting it entirely. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 19:18, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

In NifSkope, you can click on various parts of the model and delete the associated mesh. Since the body and the armour have different textures, they are also two separate objects in the mesh. Since you already know how to assign textures, I think you'll be able to figure out how to delete the flesh. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 20:23, April 7, 2011 (UTC)
Example
Tagaziel means something like this, personally I don't like it as then you have items hoovering, like the arm/wrist bands and shoes with no reference point to how they would appear on a model. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 20:26, April 7, 2011 (UTC)
I disagree. Since the source model retains the proper positioning, the brain automatically fills in the blanks and it looks just like it would appear on a model. Furthermore, having just caucasian models would be discriminating against players who prefer negro or hispanic skin colours. :P Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 21:04, April 7, 2011 (UTC)
Example1

What can be done is adding a head model that exists already in the game files to the armor like so, you can also do the same for adding helmets which is nice. As of yet, I have not found the models for the hands and is why I have held off from adding to many armor images. Still messing around and testing different approachs for the images, as I haven't found an ideal layout for the images, while the side by side image gives a lot more information, they kinda look small in the infobox. At the moment I am tending towards just having the front view of the male model in the infobox, then adding in the gallery with both front, rear and side views of both male and female (if there is a female version).

Adding the head is easy, open another window in nifskope and load up the generic head (\meshes\characters\head\headhuman.nif) in the block list (F2), left click on 0 NiNode and then goto block>copy branch. Now in the armor window, again left click on 0 NiNode, but instead click paste branch, after a few seconds it will add the head to the model. Adding the eyes is the same, but requires a bit of editing as it doesn't place them in the right place (it actually places them in the middle of the body, so you dont see them). Find the node for each eye (normally one of the bottom ones, depending on the order you copied them over), left click it and go to transform>edit, change the translation to x=0 y=0 z=112.7 and rotation all to 0. This should now place the eyes inside the head correctly. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 21:16, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

P.S. It isn't us who is discriminating, it is the generic model in the game files that is discriminating =P

Not really. It's you who links the texture files. Anyways, I really feel that the generic model is unneeded, because it's the armour that's important. Visual recognition. The colour of the skin of the wearer is not important, the shape and colour of the suit is and an image without the flesh emphasizes the shape and colour of the armour. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 21:22, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

Thats where you are wrong, the skin texture and model is already linked to the armor model, so therefore it is the default skin tone. Yes we can change the skin texture, but at the moment we are using the default texture. So as I said before, if anything is racists in that respect, it is the devs for picking that skin tone as the default one. Ohhh and PS, you also forgot to say that we are discriminating against ghouls as well as being sexist here =P
But onto other matters, yes it does retain the positioning of those parts of the armor. But then again, not everyone has great visual acuity and/or spatial awareness to be able to fill in the blanks in there minds eye. Personally I am looking towards the final result being something like the Mannequins mod.User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar
EDIT: removed all skin tone textures from the example, just to get the race card off the table and to look like the mannequins I mentioned above.
Acceptable compromise. I loved how it was implemented in Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood, so it's just peachy if I can see it here. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 21:56, April 7, 2011 (UTC)
Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood? as for the images, I am still looking for the hands before I would be happy?
Jspoel, if that's what you want to do, I am more than happy with that, the more input the better. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:13, April 7, 2011 (UTC)
Ah ha, I have found the generic gloved hands (in the leather armor folder of all places) and uploaded it to Legion explorer armor as a example, so you guys can see how it would look in a page. Just need to find the ungloved hands, let me know what you think. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:21, April 7, 2011 (UTC)
Example2

There you go. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:40, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

No worries. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:47, April 7, 2011 (UTC)
Just popping my head in to say that I really like the current result. Thanks for being so creative!--Gothemasticator 04:39, April 8, 2011 (UTC)

I don't suppose that you personally have completed the Dead Money DLC... did you get all the gold?

USSRmillitary6663[]

I didn't check his other edits, but now that I have, I think you're right he does deserve a longer block. I'll change the block to three months and if he comes back, we can extend the block.

Also, I saw your message for Tagaziel, and I think I can answer your question. To ban somebody indefinitely you have to choose 'Other' from the drop down menu and then type 'indefinite' in the 'Other time' box, and that's all :) Cheers --Anon talk 11:27, April 9, 2011 (UTC)

Permabans[]

To permanently block an account, select "other" from the timeframe dropbox and type in "infinite". Presto! :) Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 11:31, April 9, 2011 (UTC)

But when doing that, also uncheck the "block IP" box, since if the IP is dynamic, it might end up blocking other, legitimate users (which has happened in the past). IPs should only be blocked for 3 days, unless there is repeated vandalism from the same IP. Ausir(talk) 11:37, April 9, 2011 (UTC)
Yup. Maybe block for 3 days with IP first, and then block again for longer with IP unchecked? Ausir(talk) 12:18, April 9, 2011 (UTC)

Another heckler[]

This heckler vandalized two pages. Best regards, Kastera (talk) 17:03, April 9, 2011 (UTC)

Outfit images[]

Heh, I don't get what you mean by the current style for the fourth image. Unless you are meaning the ones current in use as done from the GECK. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 18:21, April 9, 2011 (UTC)

Ohhh, you meant without the head and hands. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:13, April 9, 2011 (UTC)
Ahhh, I get you, I will probably get the fourth one done tomorrow and also do separate females as well, then stict both together so we have everything possible variant. P.S. might be time to archive some of your talk page. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 22:42, April 9, 2011 (UTC)

Co-op[]

Hey dude i have a quick question, i have seen people playing fallout 3 co-op, have you ever heard of such a thing and if so, "how do this"? Thanks.(Nemerian 18:26, April 9, 2011 (UTC))

Phuckya leaves the community.[]

Whatever, i'll just not edit anything then. Peace out.

Back again because you people can't function without meh :3[]

Redirected it back. We could admittedly use a few tips/strategems for Hardcore, but I can't think of any that wouldn't violate our "don't tell people how to play the game" rule.

And, to tell the truth, it's mostly just TF2. Being an irritating and bitchy medic/engineer is actually very fun.

I haven't even played through Dead Money yet. :P Nitty Tok. 01:08, April 10, 2011 (UTC)

Concerning the vandal last night[]

I think it was the Jonas Harper article they moved and then edited. How are you supposed to move things back and fix them when they've been messed with like that? (Got logged out) Great Mara 01:13, April 10, 2011 (UTC)

When I tried to undo the edit with the large wall of expletives though, the Jonas Harper page was fixed in the preview, but the page title was still under "N****" and I couldn't figure out how to undo the moving part. Great Mara 01:36, April 10, 2011 (UTC)

Am angry!![]

Dude we has another troll, he created some strange page about making fake wiki pages but all that is written on the page is the word "troll".(Nemerian 14:33, April 10, 2011 (UTC))

This may concern you[]

This may concern, but if it doesn't you can simply disregard it. I have a good feeling that USSRmillitary6663 and USSRattachmenAmerica are the same person, so we might be in for another BoS hating, "Seig heil" nightmare. Best regards, Kastera (talk) 16:36, April 10, 2011 (UTC)

 • Awesome; he (they?) was quite the nuisance, wasn't he?

Thank you for blocking my stupid little brother who gets me in trouble by getting in my account when Im off guard, he's named USSRmillitary6663, he worships BOS.
