Hi there![]

FO1 intro Vault Boy

Welcome to the Vault!

Welcome to our Fallout wiki, and thank you for your contributions! There's a lot to do around here, so I hope you'll stay with us and make many more improvements.

Recent changes is a great first stop, because you can see what other people are editing right this minute, and where you can help.
If you haven't already, create a user page about yourself! If you do, we'll be able to know you better as a member of our community.
Questions? You can ask in the Forum or on the "discussion" page associated with each article, join the live chat in our IRC channel or post a message on my talk page!
Need help? The Help page has an outline of the site, and pages to help you learn how to edit. See the Vault's Policy page for general guidelines and code of conduct.
I'm really happy to have you here, and look forward to working with you!

Protect Broken Steel page[]

Hello dear friend =). I don't think it's necessary to protect this, the vandalism affects all pages, it protects only when there is a lot of repetition of vandalism. If ever it continues on this page, report me and I will do the necessary. See you on The Vault ! Itachou [~talk~] 11:29, October 29, 2009 (UTC)

Strange Markup thingy[]

Yeah, its an error made when someone uses the 'Rich Text Editor'. Its essentially a space, but more annoying. Spoon Leave me a freakin' message 12:58, October 29, 2009 (UTC)

Edits[]

As we all appreciate an editors edits, there are some exceptions. Adding extra information to an article that will in no way add to the usefulness of the article is to be avoided. I understand that the blade on the Auto axe may look like a concrete or tile saw and that it is worn and may cause a safety hazard, is 1.)speculation (as we know not what the blade is) and 2.)it does not add anything of significance to the article. Please keep this is mind when adding information. The current projects are to help cleanup clutter, not add it. Thanks and continue the good work. --Kingclyde 09:09, March 1, 2010 (UTC)

And as I was fixing that, I noticed it wouldn't let me save the changes because someone decided to change them for me. Thanks.--Kingclyde 09:14, March 1, 2010 (UTC)

Emphasis[]

Please do not italicize or bold words for emphasis within articles. Thanks.--Gothemasticator 04:35, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

Eugene[]

I reverted your edit to Eugene, not because I doubt your info, but because that's not how we include such information on any of our weapon pages. If you'd like to put such info to use, I suggest you bring it up on the Eugene talk page, or perhaps the Fallout 3 weapons overview talk page. Thanks.--Gothemasticator 11:12, March 8, 2010 (UTC)

Other than listing the weapon HP, we do not yet have a standard way of including the type of info you are trying to get at. We also don't seem to have an article on Weapon HP yet. Such an article, describing in detail how weapon hp degrades with use and its relationship to jamming and jamming chance would be a useful addition to The Vault. Including such information here and there across weapon articles without consistency of format or explanation is not the way we do things here.
You'd be more than welcome to bring up your info on the weapons overview discussion page or in a wiki general discussion forum post. I'm sure that a new article on weapon hp would be seen by many people as useful.--Gothemasticator 07:36, March 12, 2010 (UTC)
I likewise appreciate your willingness to discuss this civilly. Thanks. I'm going to direct you to Nitty's talk page. He's much more of an authority on weapons articles than I am, and I'm sure he will find your info useful.--Gothemasticator 04:05, March 15, 2010 (UTC)
Wow, this conversation is old.

What system are you running F3 on? I've already done weapon health tests on most of the weapons on Xbox, and I'm wondering if moding the clip to be 255 and setting the gun to automatic would change weapon health in any way. It'll help get the results much faster for Vegas.

As for layout, I just add a sentence into the Characteristics section, but we might want to add a Durability section to the infoboxes in the future. Nitty Tok. 12:34, October 21, 2010 (UTC)

Well, I appreciate the thought, but I'm about to get a brand-spanking-new desktop to run New Vegas (and, by extension, a PC copy of F3 as well) in which I'll be able to mod the clip sizes and fire rates to get results quickly.
As far as layout goes, has Goth actually been watching my edits? I've always tacked on a sentence that sums up to "A Chinese Pistol can fire 1252 rounds, or about 125 full clips, before breaking." Nitty Tok. 22:15, October 21, 2010 (UTC)

The only time gothe comes to me is if s/he has a complaint, which is often whenever I try editing an article. Anyway, how soon can we expect a durability section? I'd like to be allowed to put my extensive research somewhere...AryeonosWhat!?

New Pagas[]

I don't quite know what you're talking about, honestly.

Combat shotgun (Fallout) exists separate. Nitty Tok. 20:37, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

Pre-release talk[]

Yes you can. Infact, remove all pre-release talk about speculation and stuff like that. Article talk pages are supposed to be about improving the article, not chat, so remove anything which isn't to do with that from pages too. Tezzla CannonUser Tezzla Dog 16:50, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

Yes. Also i removed the link on your user page infobox, as it comes up as a red link, so it comes up on Special:WantedPages. Tezzla CannonUser Tezzla Dog 17:15, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

Heck, yes. :)--Gothemasticator 17:25, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

Talk pages[]

Do not remove any comments from talk pages, unless it's your own talk page, or it's your comment. --Kris User Hola 17:48, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

By "remove" I mean "delete" - feel free to archive them instead, if you wish. --Kris User Hola 18:02, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

Clarification on archiving[]

I was asked whether we could start archiving pre-release talk page content. I responded heck, yes. Talk page content shouldn't generally be deleted, except in individual cases of spam, harrassment, vandalism, etc.--Gothemasticator 19:54, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

No problem. Thanks for taking up the task!--Gothemasticator 20:06, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

Archiving pages[]

It doesn't look like you're using the handy-dandy archiving tool. Any particular reason? --Kris User Hola 20:53, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

You can use the archive tool and still pick and choose, line by line, what gets archived and what stays. Much easier than doing it by hand. --Kris User Hola 22:33, October 31, 2010 (UTC)

Archiving[]

Please do not unnecessarily archive talk pages. Thanks. --Kris User Hola 19:50, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

You've been archiving stuff that's definitely NOT pre-release. --Kris User Hola 20:00, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Minigun[]

Just a FYI, the minigun is referred to as a chaingun in the Fallout and Fallout 2 item description, so that makes it a chaingun in the Fallout world, regardless of how things are in the real world. Source PRO ITEM.MSG (Fallout) and PRO ITEM.MSG (Fallout 2). User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 20:51, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

Chainguns are categorized by using an external source of power to cycle the rounds, rather than the gas pressure from the rounds being fired to cycle the weapon. Great Mara 20:57, April 21, 2011 (UTC)
I think you need to read what I said closer particularly about the part where the chainguns use motors to fire rather than the gas pressure from fired bullets to cycle rounds through the gun. Have you ever been trained on these weapons at all? Great Mara 22:54, April 21, 2011 (UTC)
TL;DR P.S. Do not presume to order me to do anything. Great Mara 07:53, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

Archiving[]

Why on Earth did you archive the Stealth Boy talk page? --User:Cartman!User talk:Cartman! 18:06, June 28, 2011 (UTC)

That isn't how it works, pages only need archiving if they are filled with a considerable amount of content. It doesn't matter how old or relevant it is. If too many comments are off topic a warning will be added, and extreme cases may warrant removal. Age isn't a big deal, that is one reason why users sign their posts so people will know if they're replying to a year old comment or not. Consider this a friendly "back away from the archive button". --User:Cartman!User talk:Cartman! 02:45, July 3, 2011 (UTC)
My better idea is that you stop taking things into your own hands as it isn't your choice to just come up with ideas expecting everyone to follow you. --User:Cartman!User talk:Cartman! 20:59, July 7, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah and "if you have a better idea" isn't ass-like at all. And good. --User:Cartman!User talk:Cartman! 21:55, July 7, 2011 (UTC)
