You should mention they can spawn with stickers on spelling out a random name. I've seen Stan, Stacey and Daniel so far. Not sure if that's all of them or just at a unique location, but it does exist.

I made a note of this, the name I saw was Acadia, which confirms that the names are not exclusively pulled from the Codsworth name list. I also noted that there was something interesting inside of the named lunchbox, I'll be checking the next few ones I find to confirm it before I make any more edits to this page. --Schizmoooo (talk) 08:06, November 24, 2015 (UTC)

Please help verify randomness of names and stickers[]

I'd like to verify whether or not the names and decals on these items are randomized, so please cite any specific instances of finding a named/decaled lunchboxes here and include the name/decal and location. It shouldn't take very many examples before someone can verify whether or not it is random. --Schizmoooo (talk) 11:50, November 24, 2015 (UTC)

The one in Virgil's Laboratory will always be a "Becky Becky Becky" one (id 00249231). There are just 18 different unopened lunchboxes in the game data, the text isn't applied dynamically. I didn't check the other ones, but I don't expect them to be randomized. --Alfwyn (talk) 16:56, January 24, 2016 (UTC)

Verification on random explosive[]

I can verify the random explosive. I got one once with a prox mine that started chirping as soon as I opened it. Jaspian (talk) 18:13, November 27, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, I've edited the page to indicate this. --Schizmoooo (talk) 01:32, November 28, 2015 (UTC)

Lunchbox Names/Stickers Disappear upon Opening[]

I found this bug earlier, but I only got the chance to get screenshots of it now. Lunchboxes with names will lose the names put on them upon opening the lunchbox. I took two screenshots, one when it's closed, one when it's opened. Images are here: http://imgur.com/a/ueNnG I was going to add the bug to the page myself, but I was advised to make a talk about it first. Nethaufer (talk) 00:40, December 6, 2015 (UTC)

Yes, that is the way they are implemented, there are 18 different activators (unopened lunchboxes), but only one miscellaneous item for the inventory. The stickers fall off because of the "explosion" when opening them? --Alfwyn (talk) 16:47, January 24, 2016 (UTC)

Rarer items spawn in Lunchboxes with persistence[]

I edited a section in notes to say that rare items such as models do spawn if you keep loading and opening the same lunchbox. I can verify this as I've tried myself with many different boxes and kept trying until I collected all the models. It just takes patience =) Dovahkitty (talk) 01:20, December 6, 2015 (UTC)

Lunch Box destroyable?[]

I was in Parson Asylum. The first fight in the left corridor, where the lunch box is, a raider threw a grenade and i heard the sound when opening the box - the item was there but the box looked broken and could not be picked up. HomerDOHSimpson (talk) 21. Feb. 2016

Potential Easter Egg[]

I’ve been working on a loot machine that uses the vault tec lunchboxes for the past few weeks and I’ve noticed a few things. I always get the same list of loot, but I don’t get the whole list featured on the wiki. I’ve run thousands of lunchboxes and created new ones and it’s always the same thing. I have a theory that there is an Easter egg that when solved, results in better loot from the lunchboxes. Here are my ideas: -you must find all of the children names plus the 2 decals -you must find all lunchboxes in the game. -Luck stat or karma stat could affect loot. I’ve never once received an armed grenade.

I’m going to leave the list of loot I get and also the lunchboxes I’ve found so far. Here’s a link to my build: HTTPS://youtube.com/watch?v=2KPVTPsalUA

here’s the list of loot I get everytime: plastic spoon plastic fork plastic knife baseball chalk pencil pen dinner fork dinner knife dinner spoon wonderglue bubblegum dandy boy apples gum drops noodle bowl nuka cola

locations: College Admin - found Ziggy on left side with eyebot model. Fraternal post 115 - found Jack in front with Nuka Cola. Cambridge Polymer Lab - Found Nic on back with plastic knife. Boston Public Library - Found Becky written three times on front with Baseball. Trinity Church - Found Ziggy on left side with Wonderglue Pulowski Preservation Shelter - Found Greesha written on front with Nuka cola. Mass Pike Tunnel West - Found Nic written on front with eyebot model. Wilson Automatoys - No name with pencil.

I estimate that with my setup, it would take about 30 real time hours to reach 1 million caps. However, if I were to get the full list of loot, I could reach a million much faster. I may give up my survival run to search for the remaining lunchboxes. evan.kellough (talk) 04. Aug. 2022
