For me the quest have ended and I got the exp before going back to the Diamond City. I've received the 200caps and a hat upon returning to DS as the first point in the automatically starting next quest - Getting a Clue. 05:16, February 11, 2016 (UTC)
Nick bugged after Vault 114[]
I have run into a Fallout 4 bug on PS4. When I finished Vault 114, I talked to Nick Valentine and told him I would meet him at his office in Diamond City. I then went on about some other business for my character, such as completing the Nuka World DLC.
When I went to Diamond City looking for Nick, he wasn't there. I found him again next to the "back door" of Vault 114, still standing in the alley. I talked to him again and said I would follow him to Diamond City, but he didn't start moving. I talked to him again and said I would meet him in Diamond City. He didn't move.
Does anyone know of a PS4 solution to this bug that doesn't involve redoing everything I did after Vault 114? --Ted C (talk) 16:56, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

With that said, my first impulse for your issue would be to have your character wait for three in-game days in a place that is neither DC nor Vault 114. –Findabair

I think I have found a quest checkpoint that isn't shown[]
I believe I have found a hidden checkpoint that needs to happen for the quest to become complete... If you happen to use a jetpack to go back the way you came instead of going the long way, the quest will not finish.. However through testing if you go through the vault the correct way, even if you go the wrong way the first time the quest does complete, So I believe that the you must go through and see Skinny Malone as a hidden checkpoint before you can complete the quest. I discovered this on ps4.
