Why are we using the picture of Raul as this weapon's picture? Raymorn 16:08, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

Because... look on his left shoulder. Nukey (Talk) (Blog) 16:12, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

Ohhhh.... Ok. I didn't see that. Thats hard to see unless you know its there. Raymorn 16:18, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

The camo is working. You didnt see it! gun_with_utters 00:24, May 17, 2010 (UTC) GatlingBrahmin comon you guys we all know raul is a companion and they can use your guns if u can give it to him

Original Design or Actual Rifle?[]

Any gun nuts think they can recognise the rifle from the pic or have they gone with an original deign for a small gun, or perhaps it's a well disguised laser..... Mr Habberdasher 14:42, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

It's probably a small gun, or a firearm, depending on which version of SPECIAL is used. Nitty Tok. 14:52, April 10, 2010 (UTC)
>>>Why hello there. Gun nut here. It looks very much like a Magpul Precision Rifle Stock.
http://brigadearmory.com/catalog/images/MK415.jpg
Which could be any number of guns, like an SR-25 for example. Maybe this stock is a weapon mod you can get that improves accuracy on sniper rifles? All the weapons are supposed to have 3 mod slots- and sniper rifles already come with a scope, so modding the stock seems logical.

Also, previews have spoken of a new semi-auto, rapid fire sniper rifle called the "All American" in game- it's possible that's what this gun is. It makes sense too, considering that this type of stock is often present on semi-auto marksman rifles and it is itself an american made product.71.234.106.119 06:00, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

It could be or it could not. That particular stock is not unique to Magpul. There are other brands out that that look similar to it. It would not be proper to add a brand name as in most games, you cannot make an exact determination. --Kingclyde 06:03, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, since we have seen the customization of the other guns, this could just be an upgrade for one of the existing guns, maybe a recoil control stock for the Military Assault Rifle Volk Zadovsky 19:28, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

Anyone in here think it could possibly be the Varmint Rifle? It seams logical to me, considering it's a low caliber weapon and the person wielding it is presumably an NPC. And NPC's in Fallout 3 usualy carry useless weapons unless they're wearing power armor. I just thought I'd throw this out there.Exeter17 00:46, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

It's probably a sniper rifle with a stock mod on it.96.18.76.204 10:55, June 21, 2010 (UTC)

I seriously doubt its a sniper rifle, cause Boone is the sniper follower.Shadow 00:13, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

im guessing this will end up as some kind of smg with a prs stock to control recoil because that seems like a weapon an engineer would use

That is probly an M16/AR-15 definately has a magpul stock. guys its just a m16 with no carry handle and a magpul marksman stock and R,I,S rail.

Lolwut? srsly who cares what real gun the marksman carbine is/looks like/based on? Let's try being like the CoD Wiki and treating the guns like they're fake? it works. User:XxHALOFTWxx

Yeah, but as a local b-crat would often say, "those wikipedia-certified gun-nerds keep ruining everything." Yuri 18:01, December 27, 2010 (UTC)

I agree with XxHALOFTWxx. Who cares what it looks like? cos I know what it looks like: the Marksman damn Carbine!!!--N00BHUNTER666 22:30, December 27, 2010 (UTC)

Camo Rifle = Assault Carbine?[]

Is it possible that the Camo Rifle is a heavily modded Assault Carbine? P.E.A.C.H 08:49, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

Unique version maybe? 85.3.106.135 12:38, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

We know that unique weapons cannot be modded, and since this weapon has an acog sight, it can't be the unique version 70.179.38.132 19:38, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe the ACOG sight is part of its uniqueness? I don't see any indication on the Assault Carbine page that the ACOG would be a modification. Also, the Assault Carbine doesn't have a flat-top receiver, which the gun on the picture clearly has. --83.78.71.240 17:14, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

I think it might be a modded assault rifle with a magpul stock the ACOG and the camo may also be weapon mods and that would match up with the 3 mods per weapon rule set down by obsidian. Guys its a marksman rifle with with an american camoflague i would give u the name but cant remember it

Picture?[]

Um, why the hell does it have the picture of the Gecko and modified carbine up? The only identifying feature of the weapon, the camoflauge stock, is not present, so how can it even be assumed to be the same weapon? RadRuler 03:55, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

Because that stock is camoflauged. Nitty Tok. 03:55, September 19, 2010 (UTC)
What stock? As I said, the stock of this weapon is not shown, and the weapon orignally refered to as the "camoflauged rifle" has a stock that does not look anything like the assault carbine's collapsible stock. RadRuler 23:13, September 19, 2010 (UTC)
Someone changed the picture to one that doesn't show the stock.
FNV prelease screenshot raul

That picture is what was originally there. --Kris User Hola 23:20, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

But who even says they are the same weapon? Just because they are the same color? God, I can't wait for this game to come out, just to end all this speculation. RadRuler 03:47, September 22, 2010 (UTC)

DMR?[]

totally ot but doesn't it resemble the Designated Marksman Rifle from Halo:Reach? I'm going to have a field day if it also feels the same. LK Tien 02:37, October 16, 2010 (UTC)

No, The barrel is completely different, but the scope does look similar. Sparky talk ??? .

I think the camo is just a weapon mod so this may not be the marksman carbine at all.

It does remind of a Halo DMR, in fact I prefer to call this gun "DMR" over "marksman carbine." --N00BHUNTER666 15:26, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

They'd be used for the same thing. {{SUBST:Signatures/YuriKaslov}} 16:06, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

CAR-15[]

I am fairly confident that this rifle is based on the CAR-15, and evently should be noted as such in the article (once the furor of NV updates have subsided). The14th 08:05, October 21, 2010 (UTC)

No. If there's no explicit mention by the devs that it's based on the CAR-15 (which seems unlikely to me), there's no reason to add that to the article. YuriKaslov-M1911 small Yuri Kaslov 16:35, October 22, 2010 (UTC)
It looks close to a M4[1]

WHO CARES?! --N00BHUNTER666 15:20, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

Heckler and... No![]

Removed the Trivia section entirely. The only thing there was an unneeded relation to the Heckler and Koch 416.90.216.10.201 21:21, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

Good on you. We don't do comparisons, and we especially don't do "Trivia" headers. Absolutely no one actually reads the editing guidelines, it seems. Nitty Tok. 21:23, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

Location? Nellis Generator Room?[]

Where exactly is this room? Is it part of the Nellis array? I can't find a Marksman Carbine there at all. A dead Boomer had an assault carbine, that was all.

Please sign your posts. Also, there is a big rack full of ammo and whatnot in the big generator room. Don't forget to check your companions, they might have picked it up. I was looking for it too, and boone grabbed it (the bastard) TNT Lordofthelargepants The Zipper and The Pockets 15:34, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

I got all the ammo from there, but I don't see a gun. And Boone doesn't have it for me.--86.44.142.247 16:08, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

That is incredibly strange, because I found it there. On one of the ammo shelves. Did you cause one of the ants to explode? Or maybe a mortar shell? It could have knocked something away. (damn physics) TNT Lordofthelargepants The Zipper and The Pockets 17:49, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

I did cause an explosion after much time spent searching, hoping it might blow it out into the open, but still no sign of it.--86.44.142.247 17:54, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

I am not sure if this is random, I found it next to a dead boomer near the upper entrance. On one playtrough, I found an Assault Carbine instead, but I found a Markman Carbine on another playthrough in the same spot. -- Flaktrooper, November 18, 2010.

Oh My God People...[]

It's a POF. Look at it. Long handguards, same style handguards, same stock. 72.160.148.107 20:20, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

How about no? It's not anything unless the devs said so. IncompetentMinion 13:35, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

How about we act like the CODwiki and treat every weapon as fictional, and not compare it real life weapons? Seriously, that's the best course of action, after all, it is a game. We even treat, for instance, the M4A1 in call of duty, as fictional, since it is a game. It makes everything less complicated. TNT Lordofthelargepants The Zipper and The Pockets 13:38, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

What a POF?--Blahmarrow 23:37, January 17, 2011 (UTC)

all american[]

the all american can be found in vault 34 armory on a upturned table if you can not find it and have a companion check there inventory

One, sign your posts. Two, there is a page for the All-American, so what you said isn't required. (besides, the Talk page is for discussing the page, not the locations of the weapons.) IncompetentMinion 13:33, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Marksman Carbine Gun-runners Level 15[]

I've read that the marksman carbine is found for sale at gunrunners when the player is level 16. However, i found it for sale in perfect condition there right after i reached level 15 (xbox 360). Can anyone else confirm this?

Me I found it at gunrunners but I didn't buy it too pricey I found it at nellis --N00BHUNTER666 15:23, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

Fallout Wiki policy on real world weapon references[]

We don't put real-world weapon references on article pages, unless it's the same name as the real-world weapon, or if is mentioned by a developer that the ingame weapon is intended to represent a specific real-world weapon.

Weird glitch[]

I was in nipton with the rifle, entered a house and used a terminal but it add glitch. then i dont know why, when i try to zoom using the marksman, i get the picture of a terminal. as anybody encounter the same kind of thing as me?

That's a common glitch actually. I'll try to find it on here for you. Great Mara 23:51, April 3, 2011 (UTC)

Yep, it isn't actually a glitch with the Marksman carbine, its a glitch with all scopes. User:AvatarUser talk:Avatar 00:01, April 4, 2011 (UTC)

Actual AP cost to fire?[]

[PS3] My character has 7 Agility, both levels of the Action Girl perk, and the Fast Shot trait; which adds up to a total of 116 AP, and means all the AP costs for weapons are reduced by 20%. So, the Marksman Carbine should cost around about 11.5 AP to fire, which should equate to ten shots in V.A.T.S. for my particular character. However, my character can only fire it seven times in V.A.T.S. before hitting the wall. I'm unsure if this is an unusual bug, a glitch with the Fast Shot trait, or if the AP value for the Carbine has been misreported. Any ideas?

Attempted Vandelism[]

I was checking out the Markersman carbine's ammo link and it was "5.56mm round (Fmkmkkallout:New Vegas)" with the "mkmkk" ruining the link. I corrected it though. So be warned there may be a wiki vandel on the loose. Jun. 6 2011

Magazine?[]

Is it just me, or does the extended magazine look really bendy and weird?Danny323 11:42, July 21, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, it looks rediculous. Good thing it was cut from the game. Wiseman of the Wastes 10:14, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

May not always be found in Nellis[]

In my first game, the Marksman (my first, btw) was in Nellis, when doing the quest Ants Misbehavin'. In my second game it wasn't there, instead the two dead Boomers carried an Assault Rifle and a Grende Rifle. I assume this was because I had already been to Vault 34? Was carrying the All-American, whereas Cass had the Marksman. Probably not the greatest contribution to this site, but it's still info and bugged me enough the write this post.RadiationStorm 14:00, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

The Marksman Carbine is laying loose by the right-hand of the boomer in front of you when you enter the area and ins't considered part of the dead Boomer's inventory. If one of the ants explode it will be sent flying and you'll have to search high and low for it. There's been more than a few times where it's ended up in the room further down the catwalk. One reason I started making ED-E wait outside playing on a new file. User:Great_MaraUser talk:Great_Mara 18:54, July 25, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, ED-E managed to set off several artillery rounds when firing at ants on the floor below, but that was after I couldn't locate the Marksman and rushing through the compound, while reloading several times. My wording above was a little misleading, one of the weapons (the Grenade Rifle) was lying where the Marksman was in my game before. I looted both boomers and their weapons on the floor, without interference. The bodies were also in their normal positions, I even moved the one infront of the catwalk, to check if the Marksman maybe slid behind the file folders. Mind you, if the Marksman dropped/clipped or something, it still doesn't explain why there was a Grenade Rifle in it's place. Will do another thorough check though, when I'm in the area.RadiationStorm 08:29, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

It's always there. So is the Assault Carbine. However, the dead boomers may or may not have an explosive weapon in their inventory, and that weapon may be a grenade rifle (it could also be a grenade launcher or a missile launcher). Being placed items (that is, something just sitting in the game world), the Assault and Marksman carbines are always there, no matter what. Followers may pick them up and explosions may move them around, but when you first enter the place they're there. --Kris User Hola 23:00, September 2, 2011 (UTC)
