OK. No way anyone is going to convince me this is a "hunting rifle". Personally, I believe it's a makeshift laser rifle or some other craftable weapon. But at the very least we should change the page name to reflect we do not know what king of weapon this is, or even if it is a firearm. I suggest "makeshift rifle". Any other ideas? The Gunny  UserGunny chevrons 00:32, June 4, 2015 (UTC)

I would agree as well, it very much does not appear to be a hunting rifle to me, there doesn't appear to be a proper magazine (clip or under the barrel), a traditional trigger is missing as well, also the bolt mechanism doesn't appear to be in place either. It literally appears to me to be a rig using the just the barrel and stock as a mount. Digital21 (talk) 00:46, June 4, 2015 (UTC)
A light rail cannon version of the X277 Viper magnetic rail cannon? GRPeng (talk) 16:22, June 5, 2015 (UTC)
This weapon is the Laser Musket, so it should either be combined with the existing Laser Musket page or re-named. {{SUBST:User:Firefunbro/Sig}} 18:19, June 15, 2015 (UTC)

Characteristics[]

In the gameplay footage, there is an ammo counter that decreases by one or two each time the crank is turned. If this is the case, then that can not be a hand powered generator on the back, as it would have unlimited ammo. It is more likely a mechanism that transfers "units of energy" from a currently unknown power source (energy weapon ammo) to the capacitor feeding the optical resonator, that just happens to move in a revolving fashion. Also, since the ammo usage is seen to be one OR two per shot, it may be possible to "overcharge" the laser musket. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=0lWNdcbq3EU#t=189

For like, a split second I though this was put on the weapon's actual page x.x

I meant to revert this. Where are the sources for focusing lenses?
$ npm install shining-armor#

Honestly, I don't remember how I came to that conclusion regarding the lenses, but it would make sense, as the rings would then have a purpose. Most high powered lasers (in reality) use such lenses, or at least one, if they are not aimed at something close to the emitter.

Without a source for it that is purely speculation and things like that aren't allowed on the wiki. For this reason I am going to revert the edit but if you happen upon a source that says they are focusing lenses feel free to add that bit back.
$ npm install shining-armor#

Actually, at 3:17 in the same video mentioned ealier, you can see that the ring does contain a solid, grayish object shaped like a convex lense, so at the very least it is not simply a hollow ring. Whether that constitutes sufficient proof, I do not know. It is also visible in this picture: http://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/File:Fallout4_Preston.png Seriously though, DOES that constitute sufficient proof? Clarification would be appreciated.

Realistically, your probably right, but as the game hasn't released yet, we can't jump to it just yet. What we see in the trailers and demo's isn't quite sufficient enough evidence I do believe. Xxx FaZe Courier Optic 420Purifyit xxx (talk) 15:49, August 24, 2015 (UTC)

I can almost swear I saw a rectangular greyish object connected to the back of the gun leading into the rear mechanism in some of the footage. I think this thing may be powered by some kind of fission battery like the ones in fallout 3. There is also a chance that this is a kind of special weapon and you can make a hand made varient which matches the one I'm thinking of. If so, we may need to split this page off.--Tombot (talk) 04:27, October 31, 2015 (UTC)

ammo name[]

As I understood, Laser Pistol and thus one use same kind of ammo. In table the ammo for this one is calle "fusion cell" while ammo for small laser is "energy cell"; disturbed me. I propose to use the same name in both articles

Increased Capacitor Shot Multiplier?[]

Does anyone know the value of damage output by having 3,4,5, and six charges loaded? I'm assuming that 2 charges equates to the full 33 damage, so by my arithmetic: 3 charges: 49.5 4 charges: 66 5 charges: 82.5 6 charges: 99

1 charge deals full paper damage. 6 charges deals 6 times damage. Critical damage is multiplied also.

Logical expectations vs simplified gameplay.[]

In Fallout Shelter this is the weakest energy weapon which combined with it's jury rigger appearance it's would have made sense for this weapon to be a poor man's laser rifle. Crank it a few times then shoot. Instead it's a very powerfull long range weapon that has nothing to do with being cheap to use as it consumes the same ammo as Institute and millitary models. If you are looking for an infinite ammunition energy weapon that requires you to hide your head for some time before poping out to make a shot in the enemy at cost of lower accuracy then millitary grade models and that can be cranked up beyond needed charge(depending on capaciator upgrade) to increase power and number of shots you can make before needing to crank it up again, but never exceding the capabilities of more advanced versions like I was expecting it to be then look in a different place.80.94.160.227 10:55, December 14, 2015 (UTC)

Weapon modifications - Muzzle[]

The table breaks apart whenever I try to add the final section on, but as far as I can tell it's structured correctly. Not sure if I missed something somewhere? Commented it out on the page for now.Great Mara (talk) 17:07, January 2, 2016 (UTC)

Automatic Musket Fire Rate Bug[]

In third person while crouched, the automatic laser musket fires much much faster. This obviously has uses.

Unable to mod?[]

I've encountered this bug in which I am no longer able to modify the Laser Muskets on PS4. Is anyone else experiencing this? --Falloutghoul (talk) 18:44, September 15, 2017 (UTC)

Location verification[]

Have eyes on a dead minuteman in the Fort Hagen area with a laser musket at his feet. Need a second person to verify this isn't a random spawn. Body is in the northeast corner of a the building just north-northeast of the Fort Hagen filling station with all the desks, to the right of a broken open fridge.
