More rocks?[]

There are people saying there are more of them HORocks, any confirmation for those of you who have the GECK?

Sam Warrick?[]

I know that the note is a reference to Morrowind, but isn't it also possible that S might be Sam Warrick? Has this been discussed before? -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 17:42, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Personally, I think the note and Hollowed Out Rock are both a nod to Oblivion and the Dead Drop quests from the Dark Brotherhood... --151.13.78.98 09:10, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
No they are referring to the Hollow Tree stump from Morrowind. This one also contains loot and a note. JK1464 03:16, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

there is no more HOrocks that's the only one.

I think that if it is a reference to the Dead Drops of the Dark Brotherhood S could be a reference to their deity, Sithis. Although the items and manner that the note is written in seem to point to a Morrowind reference, I feel that it could be referencing both. -S

My Theory on who S is[]

Stockholm! Admittedly many people believe it's Sam Warrick but Stockholm makes more sense! He guards Megaton and the rock is (admittedly behind the town whereas he watches the front) relatively nearby! As to who gave him the gift I haven't a clue, but please think about this! That does sound reasonable. Shall I add this speculation on Stockholm's page? Sam Warrick's page has it already. But we still have to wonder. Who would that 'E' be? :Starshade 14:39, January 7, 2010 (UTC)

Maby Lucas Sims left it for him, as he is one of the main leaders of the town and would want Stockholm to have more firepower at the ready.Superinsomniac 22:35, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

get unlimited .308 ammo with this container?[]

I think there's a bug. I was using the Hollowed-out rock for a storage location, and I placed .308 ammo in it. The number of .308 rounds always increase each time I deposit them into the rock. And I haven't picked up that "As Requested" note yet. Eddo36 13:43, September 8, 2010 (UTC)

Similar places in other games...[]

...are not relevant. There's a tree stump in Morrowind, apparently another one in its expansion, Bloodmoon; there's another tree stump in Oblivion as well as a hollowed-out rock. None of these need be mentioned in the article. --Kris User Hola 11:40, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

Hollowed-out Rock in New Vegas[]

While playing New Vegas, I came across a hollowed-out rock accidentally. It contained: 6 .22LR and a fork, and was located right next to the mouth of Morning Star Cavern (east of the Mojave Outpost.) Valnatix 21:57, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

There's a lot of hollowed out rocks in Fallout: New Vegas. --Kris User Hola 22:01, November 2, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the information. I appreciate it a lot. Valnatix 01:09, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

Topic: Who IS "S" and "E"?[]

"S" could refer to Sam Warrick, based on the fact that he wields a sniper rifle and can often be found on the way to the Super Duper Mart (Which is rather close to Megaton). Additionally, it could refer to Sam Warrick if "E" refers to Eulogy Jones of the Paradise Falls slavers. He could be supplying Sam with weapons and ammunition to kill or capture escaped slaves fleeing to Megaton, or killing Wastelanders who openly oppose or actively work against slaving operations in the Capital Wasteland. Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever[]

The "E" and "S" leaving each other hidden caches of supplies, weapons and notes across Bethesda games are pretty obviously a reference to the super-agent characters Ecks and Sever from Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever. The first appearance of these caches was in the Morrowind expansion Bloodmoon, which started development 10 months after Morrowind was finished, or right around when Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever reached theaters. A key scene in Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever features Ecks borrowing weaponry from Sever's absurdly huge personal armory, with the back-and-forth drop points in Bethesda's games likely a reference to the debt (and grudging respect) shared between the movie's title characters.

Since the first Ecks vs. Sever video game is actually from 2001, and the second game was developed around the time of Morrowind itself, it's even possible a dev from Crawfish Interactive worked on one of the Ecks vs. Sever games, then worked on Bloodmoon for Bethesda.

Ecks vs. Sever was, in any case, well-known in the early-2000s video game industry as one of the first attempts at an action movie franchise, alongside The Matrix, that prioritized video game development parallel to a theatrical release. The first Ecks vs. Sever game wasn't a big-time project like the Matrix games were, but it was written from an earlier draft of the movie's script than the one used to shoot the actual movie, suggesting an imagined multimedia franchise for Ecks and Sever. The other difference, of course, is that The Matrix: Reloaded succeeded at the box office, while Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever was a notorious flop and never got a sequel, though it was obviously written with an entire series in mind.

However, I'll make it clear that ALL of the above will need a reliable source to confirm it before it's added to the article. I think it's at least remotely possible that will arrive eventually. We've gotten an oral history of Morrowind development overall, so maybe someday we'll get one that's laser-focused on Bloodmoon… though the more recent references to "E" and "S" as a running joke in games such as Fallout 4 might make the one originally responsible gun-shy about admitting a nod to two characters for whom Bethesda has never acquired a license, however obsolete they may seem.
