First, drop the armor into his inventory, then leave the Compound and return. Donovan should now be wearing whatever armor you gave him, which means his Ranger Armor and Helmet are in his inventory for you to pickpocket." Appearances[]
This could probably use some kind of list or chart on where people find him, not just mashing them together. Any ideas on how to do this properly?--CagedinSanity 03:08, 16 April 2009 (UTC).......... After completing the Statesman Hotel Rescue,I encountered Donavan at the Alien crash site where he said he had tracked me down using the Geomapper from Reily.He was being chased by 3 Super Mutants which Charon and myself dispatched.He thanked me and gave me a mini-nuke and then said he had to get back. So I followed him. He went south to German Town, then turned west past Reclining Groves, the MDPL Relay Station, West to 5 Axles Rest Stop, South to Rock Breakers Last Gas, past Jury Street Metro, past Faifax Ruins, past Andale,past Arlington Library, past The Citadel,Jefferson Memorial,past Rivet City and into the Anacostia Crossing and Seward Sq.South East and home.
The trip started on Friday at 11.30am at the Alien crash site and ended Monday at 8.28pm back atReily`s Rangers Compound .Donavon is difficult to keep alive .Most thanks goes to Charon nd his unlimited supply of shot gun ammo as Donovan is poorly armed and easily gets killed. 1000 hrs Fallout 3 Xbox 360 UK 26th May 2009.
Death and Loot[]
I randomly found his body after killing some Super Mutants, I probably activated the Random Encounter but didn't see him before he died. I looted the Wrench and caps and then went back to the Ranger Compound (I thought maybe I could give the wrench to Reily and tell her Donovan was dead) but the Rangers weren't hostile towards me as the article stated they would be. Has this happened to anyone else? JFreeman 02:31, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yes. A hit squad of Talon Mercs was hiding behind the diner at Jury St. waiting to ambush me, and they got into a firefight with three Super Mutants (presumably the three). The mercs were killed, I finished off the Super Mutants, and I then proceeded up the hill, where I found Donovan's body behind the intact house on the right. After grabbing all but the wrench from the corpse, I went to the Ranger Compound, where everyone was friendly. There was no talk of Donovan at all, despite the Rangers seeing me wearing his armor/helmet.
- I didn't hear any indication of combat with Donovan prior to finding his corpse, so I don't know how I triggered his encounter with the Super Mutants.--Faran Brygo 19:50, March 13, 2010 (UTC)
I did the Statesman Hotel quest a looong time ago. Playing FO3 on my Xbox360 again recently. Fast-travelled to Scrapyard just a few minutes ago, trying to look for Dogmeat. (This is on a really old re-loaded save file where I have two followers: Star Paladin Cross and Charon, before I went to do the G.E.C.K. quest. Also apparently before I found Dogmeat...) After fast-travelling to Scrapyard, we were immediately thrust into combat with a foolish singular Raider who was on the other side of a fence, between us and a group of 3 Super Mutants, presumably the 3 Super Mutants that attack Donovan in the scripted encounter battle. After we killed the Raider and then those 3 Super Mutants, I found Donovan's corpse on the ground on a small pile of garbage waste. Nebenthe (talk) 15:24, April 12, 2016 (UTC)
Unique Death?[]
On a Youtube video I've recently seen, the PC encountered Donovan fighting a couple of Super Mutants when a Brute hit Donovan with a sledgehammer ending his life but as he died his torso exploded into his rib cage and intestines, this is the first time I have seen someone's torso getting torn apart, Is this a glitch or Donovan's unique way of being killed should he be hit in the torso to death? —Preceding comment was unsigned. weird sentence[]
It's not clear if he survives the journey if you don't escort him, since if you simply fast-travel to the Ranger Compound he's nowhere to be found (although he may simply take a very long time to walk there). Donovan will appear at the Ranger Compound after the random encounter. The player character just has to fast travel to the Ranger Compound and then wait for 24 hours.
This passage really makes no sense to me. The first sentence says it's not sure he will appear there if you fast travel. The other sentence says it's definetly sure he will appear there after 24 hours. Does anyone share this opinion are am I just being stupid now? --Heineheine 12:50, December 27, 2009 (UTC)
Canterbury Commons[]
I encounterd a 3/4 dead Donovan fighting supermutants and enclave hellfire squad and a deathclaw in the middle of a herd of Brahmin and Lucky Harith... massively weird. The deathclaw ran around in the middle of the melee attacking brahmin. -Abagraba
He won't talk.[]
I have the PS3 version, and I came upon him staring at the bodies of two Super Mutants with his gun drawn. When I walk up to him, he just stares at me stupidly with his mouth partly open, but he doesn't say anything and I can't talk to him.
Wrong Birthdate?[]
