The sonic emitter is a quest item in Fallout: New Vegas.

Device, with the appearance of an explosive charge, emitting sonic waves.
Location[]
This item is received during the quest Ant Misbehavin' if the Courier speaks to Loyal and subsequently passes a 50 Speech check or a 50 Science check.

- The device kills the ants in the communications array building and counts these deaths towards the Bug Stomper challenge, but does not give XP for those kills.
- Ants killed by using this item count as kills by using the weapon type the player is currently holding.
Behind the scenes[]
When speaking with Loyal, if the Courier's Science skill is too low to succeed, there will be an option for them to say, "Turn it up to 11!" This is a reference to the same idiom made popular by the mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap.
Bugs[]
It can remain in the inventory after the quest if it wasn't placed it into an ant mound. It can be removed with the console command player.removeitem 10417f 1. [verified]
