This is Mike Daly, signing out. Good luck. And God bless America. Or what's left of it.— Mike, on his holotape

Staff Sergeant Michael "Mike" Daly was a U.S. Army soldier who recorded Log - SSG Michael Daly a couple of days after the Great War.

Background[]

On October 23, Staff Sergeant Daly and his squad were en route to West Stockbridge when the bombs fell. The vertibird carrying the squad crashed into the roof of the Museum of Freedom due to the nuclear blasts. The co-pilot died in the crash, while the pilot died from his injuries a day later. The following day two other squad members, Flaherty and Kanawa, were shot by a group of panicked survivors. Afterward, the remaining squad member, Proznanski, ran off, leaving Daly on his own.

When his armor's fusion core burned out a few days later, Daly decided to go AWOL, contemplating whether that concept even existed anymore. He then headed to Boston on foot to see if his sister had survived, stating in his log that she had an apartment on Boylston Street.[1] Daly was equipped with a suit of T-45 power armor, which the Sole Survivor later uses during the events of When Freedom Calls.

Notes[]

  • Michael Daly is one of several NPCs who has a unique model for their holotape voice NPC (an actor required by the Creation Kit for holotape voicelines to play). His model bears a resemblance to his voice actor, Bethesda audio director Mark Lampert.
  • Michael has the ShortName (subtitle name) Brian Murphy, possibly changed earlier on in development. It does not appear in-game, since holotapes display the speaker's actual name in subtitles and not their designated ShortName.

Appearances[]

Michael Daly is mentioned only in Fallout 4.
