General Joe Becker was a previous leader of the Commonwealth Minutemen and is a mentioned-only character in Fallout 4.
Background[]
Little is known about Becker other than that most of the veteran members of the Minutemen including Ronnie Shaw, Preston Garvey and James Wire considered him to be a good leader, one of the last "true" Generals the organization had,[1][2] and the main thing keeping the Minutemen together as a unit during the 23rd century.[1][3]
After his death by unknown causes around May 2282, the factionalism and backdoor infighting that plagued the organization flared up without leadership to adequately quell it, eventually leading to the near-collapse of the Minutemen as some of the groups on the fringes turned to banditry and raiding, activities that Becker would had been disgusted by had he been alive to witness it.[4][5] This culminated at the Quincy Massacre when none of the other groups showed up to provide reinforcement to the group led by Colonel Hollis against the Gunners at Quincy, leading to the organization's overnight fall from grace as public opinion turned against them.
