Background[]
When he heard that Martin Neimeyer, a fellow senior engineer, was retiring, Gordon decided to put together a surprise party celebrating Martin's retirement. He gained the approval of Martin's wife Emily, coincidentally the REPCONN test site's facilities manager, before he began planning the party, months in advance.[1] When the time for the party came, he discovered that Junior Engineer Stacy Johnson had forgotten to buy a cake, causing him to angrily demand that she scrounge together party food from the company break room.[2]
