Glen Atkinson was the president of the Appalachia Arts Foundation, headquartered in Lewisburg.
Background[]
Even after the Great War, Glen insisted that the foundation continue to hold festivals, despite Cyrus Pickens' protests and the necessity of gas masks during these events. The foundation agreed to follow the motto of the town, "Lewisburg Presses On."[1] His health soon began to decline, and he died still serving as president of the foundation. Clara Davis was elected to succeed him, and she continued to hold festivals like nothing was wrong with the world, just as Glen had.[2]
