The bloatfly larva is a type of ammunition in Fallout 4.
Characteristics[]
The bloatfly larva syringe is similar in appearance to a tranquilizer dart, weighing a negligible amount. It is listed under aid as a consumable instead of ammunition in the Pip-Boy. It is one of the crafting materials required to build the mounted bloatfly head.

Effects[]
By itself, the bloatfly larva syringe does little damage. However, when injected into an enemy, there is a 10% chance that a bloatfly will spawn from their corpse if they die within 30 seconds of the hit.
The spawned bloatfly will be hostile towards anything around them, including the player character. Spawned bloatflies can be any variant of bloatfly: black, festering, glowing, or legendary versions of each. The bloatfly larva syringe can be used to summon and subsequently fight legendary enemies for valuable loot.
