ā€œOh, absolutely irreplaceable! The Stradivarius violins are as unique as a painting or a sculpture... each one its own work of art.ā€ā€” Agatha

Antonio Stradivari (1644 ā€“ 1737) was an Italian craftsman of string instruments.

Background[]

Stradivari is known for having crafted numerous string instruments over the 17th and 18th centuries, which are widely considered to be among the highest quality of their kind. It is estimated that Stradivari crafted over a thousand of these instruments. A large number of these instruments were violins, designated as Stradivarius violins and given more unique names over time for distinction.[1]

Notes[]

  • The Soil Stradivarius, a violin crafted by Stradivari in 1714, is shown to have survived the Great War in Fallout 3.[1]
  • A cello within the Whitespring Presidential Cottage was once thought to have been created by Stradivari, but was later determined to be a forgery.[2]
  • Sam Nguyen compares an instrument he invented, the "thumbiano," to Stradivari's works. He acknowledges that his design is of much lower quality, but states that it holds significant personal value to himself.[3]

Behind the scenes[]

Appearances[]

Antonio Stradivari is mentioned in Fallout 3 and Fallout 76.

Agatha: "Not too much I'm afraid. It was fabricated way back in 1714 by a famous Italian craftsman named Antonio Stradivari. He had made a bunch of Stradivarius violins actually, and each one was individually named over time to identify them. They are regarded as the most outstanding instruments ever made... and no two sound alike they say. Incredible."
