Why is there a black band over the Nuka-Cola cap in the upper left of the screen? Did someone pass away? o.0
Dog and MacCready.
Dog and Danse have proved quite handy as well.
Thank you for the explanation.
My sincerest condolences to those impacted by the loss.

This curiosity was prompted by a comment in another thread (Thank you to @RavensOfLondinium !). What goes through your mind while you play?
-Is it a bit of role-play sympathizing with what the SS (FO4) might be thinking or feeling (how their world has changed)?
-Is it a character/player combo of considering the setting differences (who approved some of those shelters or vehicle designs)?
-Is it solely player business (one quick mission then go to work)?
In my case, it's usually a combination - how my SS is managing to cope, and also pondering c/p environmental things such as why nobody (except modders) built a few bridges to facilitate travel, and if rad-deer survived, why not horses.
Thoughts?
It's all about Public Relations!
Congratulations on your Achievement(s)!
There are also the eloquent rogues with the classically-Irish spelling, Sean.
Makes sense that the component was hidden so casual scofflaws wouldn't just spot synths by simply pickpocketing their hardware. Still strange that it only shows after death, however. o.0
Either that or they opted to try to drive the player mad with those constant... slow... clicks... of ambient radiation. That also brings up the question whether or not one must frequently dose with Rad-X. It's sheer background irritation.
As Sax mentioned - as long as the writing is solid, anywhere works. New Orleans has plenty of creative fodder, but can't object to a setting in home-ground, TN. :)
It may be that ghouls have some sort of hibernation or suspended animation ability. There were plenty of ferals that gave no indication they were laying in wait underwater in a few flooded places. They only seemed to be triggered when someone or thing came too close and disturbed them. It might be the same with Billy in that - once he was a ghoul - his function was 'put-on-hold' until such time as he heard something or the fridge was opened.
So what folks seem to be saying is - Aside from possibly fewer people, there would really be no discernable difference in NYC. ;)
It must 'just work' that glasses stay on a ghoul's face since their noses are gone..... :)
Let's not forget the knowledge of how to even operate a vehicle is long gone as well. Nobody would know how to even turn one on, go, stop, steer, park, etc.
(Clearly, knowledge of safe driving is already pretty spotty even today. :) )
[P.S. Always thought it was odd that rad-deer survived, but horses did not.]
Some places are just not reasonable to settle. If there were not already people there, did not bother to invite any. That cranberry bog house (most, if not all, the ground was already underwater), Spectacle Island (too easy to cut off from everybody - nice vacation spot, though), and one or two others were left unoccupied just for peace of mind.
Don't usually have the radio active when out in the wilds (FO4), so there's a chance to hear anything trying to sneak attack. That quiet is also useful to catch distant skirmishes and determine whether to flank or avoid. Any ambient music is always low as well. The radio is usually nice to have on when using the workbench, or enjoying the pubs in the settlements, though.
That would be why it took my SS so long to find her son. That's even with actively avoiding Preston once in awhile just to dodge his 'settlement aid' suggestions. :)
I hate surprises, so I checked it as a 'briefing' before going into places to make sure I would clean it out of collectibles, interesting weapons, (bug avoidance,) etc..
Going to need more proof of intelligence than that. Just because it's mashing keys does not mean the 'words' are anything comprehensible. It could simply be fascinated that it's causing the screen to change with little lights/symbols.
Kellogg's outfit.
