^^Thomas Eckhart was part of the Enclave at their Whitespring bunker, surviving the Great War. He wanted to continue nuking the Chinese after the fall of the government, but doing so would necessitate raising the defcon level based on parameters determined by the automated silo systems local to Appalachia. Eckhart had all opposing Enclave command staff killed, with the aid of the automated facilities and loyal members. Why was there opposition? Raising defcon meant creating legitimate disastrous conditions on American soil. The remaining Enclave died fighting to wrestle control away from Eckhart, and at least as of right now, everyone died during the confrontation.
The Enclave at the Whitespring are usually viewed through a less harsh lense, having died trying to stop a madman. That’s about a valiant a death as any active member of the Enclave has ever had. Maybe the only deaths which benefited anyone.
The Pitt had teased an Enclave return, and it’s never been a secret they’re a valuable toy box faction to introduce. It would not be the least bit surprising to find out Eckhart and/or members of the opposition survived.
