MCPatcher is best for the extra stuff I've added to the pack, but I think optifine works as well for the skybox at least.
Alright sweet, I knew you had all this other cool stuff that needed mcpatcher, but I think its that skybox thats going to make me start using the patcher.
Don't mention new mobs though, you'll jinx us! We already have a few new blocks for the next update, I'd hate to have to texture some new mobs too... I'm still catching up!
Lol! Those words will probably be engraved on my gravestone '...Still catching up', along with 'Minecraft got me in the end!'. I shouldn't joke about such a macabre thing...might be tempting fate, but you get that way in the wee small hours!
Hey Sheep, awesome progress! I've been using this pack a lot lately - definitely one of my favourites.
I'm wondering if you do anything special for lighting? I love moody lighting with this pack because somehow it just seems so much more colourful and glowing than a lot of other packs. Lots of fun when caving.
I did indeed do something special, I actually made my own custom lightmap for scratch for the pack which I've been slowly working on each update. I've made it so that nights are a bit darker, shadows are darker, torches and light sources give a more orange and warm glow and daytime has the slightest yellow colour which also adds a bit of warmth to the scene.
Only visible with mcpatcher of course but I'm really happy with how it's turned out!
On topic, I am looking forward to the new update. Maybe its just the picture but there is something that seems off about the new bricks, its probably nothing though. Keep up the good work!

Aha, those details are exactly what I noticed. It's been well worth the effort if you ask me!

Hehe, you and me both glim!
I like to think that someday I'll catch up but, well... Who knows...
Hey sheep, a bit off topic but in my free time I decided to try developing a game and I wanted to know if I could use your font in it. I already made it into a TTF because I like it so much: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/107607362/Minecraft/Pixel-Perfection.ttf
On topic, I am looking forward to the new update. Maybe its just the picture but there is something that seems off about the new bricks, its probably nothing though. Keep up the good work!
Yea, the bricks do look kinda strange in that picture, they look kinda compressed which makes the cracks harder to see. They're pretty nice in-game although I've made a couple of final tweaks to them since that pic as well.
Also congrats on starting your own game and yes, it's 100% okay for you to use my font in it!
Would love to see some pictures or something of the game when it's further in development too, always interesting to see what things people think up.
I know this isn't the place to discuss it but since it has already been mentioned I do also have 1 song ready for the game:
-snip-
Think of this as a free bump for all of your hard work. If anything else comes up with it, I can just PM you.
Hehe, nice work! That's really cool.
Look forward to seeing/hearing more of it, you've definitely piqued my interest. If you don't mind me asking - what genre are you aiming for with this game?

It is going to be a 2D platformer. I have the smallest bit of plot development in this self-quote here.
My brother said that the song sounded a little medieval, but I don't want it to be some generic rpg style game with castles and warriors. However, I do want a somewhat traditional costume, maybe something with poofy sleeves. The plaid might work too. I will be doing this myself, but any final ideas would be nice. I am also terrible at making the shape of the body so I might need a little help with that.
Maybe he harms enemies by playing badly in the beginning, but he finds a magician that gives him a magic guitar (plot development!) that does damage when he plays well, so he adventures to become a better musician in order to master the magic guitar.
I don't want to change the topic of this thread though so I'll keep everything else about my game out of here.
Yea sorry I've been so quiet about it, I've been busy finishing off the alpha pack challenge (which is now over, I recommend you guys go check the thread in the resource pack discussion sub forum, some really lovely work there)
So yea, I've been finishing that in my free time and the rest of the time I've spent doing a project and studying for my summer subject which ends in 2 weeks with a final exam.
Good news is that now the alpha challenge is over I can focus 100% on finishing the polished stone textures and the remaining natural stone texture (still just one to go for them) during my free time. So expect to see some pics of the natural stones very soon and then I'll post some ideas for the polished stone.
Let me know if you have any ideas for the polished stone BTW, I'm still unsure as to what style I should do them in...
Um... I don't know about the retro, but this pack is definitely not 8-bit style.

I think you should make Andesite (the grey stone) into some kind of block that is useful for building. I personally use it a lot with flooring along with stone slabs, or for stone columns when bulding with cobble/hardened clay. As for the other two, I don't know, I still don't find a good use for them.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
This is my signature. Yes, there's nothing interesting here, so carry on.
Well here's how the stone textures currently look, not too happy with the diorite (white stone) but it's supposed to be a very spotty stone irl and I'm having trouble making it look decent and not... Well... Noisy.
I also made a new oak log and worked on making swamps look unique. Will spend some time on the other biomes but later, after I've done the new stone stuff completely and released the update so it's snapshot compatible.
Stone (oh, also tweaked the normal stone a touch to make it tile better, going to change the shading a *tad* to make it fit better with the new stone textures too):
Swamps (vine colour is just a bug, don't worry about it) and new oak logs if you can see them:
EDIT: Oh, nice idea with the andesite, I'll make it into something that will look nice as flooring. I've already decided that the granite will be somewhat stonebrick shaped so that we have a pinkish brick for building too (it works really well at tying sandstone and stonebrick together in a build actually, it's a very good midpoint colour wise!)
EDIT2: Also, there's a new obsidian which I based off my alpha pack challenge obsidian. It looks MUCH nicer now.
EDIT3: Yup, diorite looks pretty bad. Here are some pics of the stones blended together in a natural environment. They look good and blend well except for the diorite which looks like a mutant birch tree (let me know if you feel otherwise of course):
EDIT4: This better for the diorite? I'm almost considering just renaming it and retexturing it to be basalt. We already have quartz for white, pale blocks afterall. Only problem is that it would make my pack look strange with many constructions and maps that use the diorite.
Also, grass addon pack works again with MCPatcher and latest snapshot. Woohoo!
The new stone will fit 100%
Also, the swamps. I don't really like swamps in Minecraft, to be honest, but this makes them 9001% better!
Fingers crossed and waiting for updates x3

Thanks, glad you think so! (I also think it was worth the time so that's at least two of us who're happy :P)

Cheers kekay!
I've done a few more tweaks since that pic:
