I've already asked about this in a private ticket, and I was told that this is left in place to "ensure people don't miss out on important announcements"; however, I've never really needed these forums to stay updated, so they just feel like I have someone I'm not subscribed to constantly in my feed. The moderator that helped me suggested that I make a public feature request ticket for this, so here I am.
