Well I installed ultra because smooth isnt updated yet sadly, and now minecraft is broke....
I log in as usual, and get the mojang logo for a split second and then a black screen.... So what do I do now other than replace the jar again. Does anyone else get this problem?
How did you install it?Did you delete META-INF?What other mods are you running?Crash log?(with spoiler marks please)
I installed it manually as usual, the meta inf folder wasnt there, as usual. And there isnt a crash log because its not exactly crashing just staying as a black screen. And I don't have any other mods.
why is optifine slowing my fps?
it was faster without it..
Same here.
Usually I have fancy graphics on, but now I can't get up to my previous FPS except when every option is set so it's as fast as possible. No Balanced/Power Saver either. Only thing I didn't set to fastest is Far render distance, which I usually have on anyways.
Connected textures seems to stop using the ctm.png once you start using custom connected textures. Any possible fix for this? (I noticed this when I updated my purebdcraft and the glass blocks stopped being connected. (He added custom connected textures in the latest update to the texturepack)
Optifine is like the best mod ever but I can't get it to work at all, after the mojang image, I get a black screen and I have nothing installed, I have the original jar file and no mcpatcher either =/ Idk what could be wrong, Also, MAKE a download with the smooth version all by itself! I think that would solve my problem and a lot of others too!
Whenever I try to put it in my minecraft.jar, it only shows me a black screen. I did exactly all of the steps on how you normally add mods to minecraft.jar. Also, could you make smooth version of the optifine for 1.3.1 please? I'm not using MCPatcher and it's not installed in my minecraft.jar at all.
I'm not sure if it was optifine who crashed it, but here it is:

Have you.... tried JUST Optifine? Are you sure all those mods are compatible together with version 1.3.1?
Start with fresh minecraft.jar and install JUST optifine. See if that crashes.
Guys, all you have to do for a "smooth version" is set chunk loading to "Smooth" instead of "default" or "multi-core"
WHAT HE SAID!!!!! It all looks merged now, so one version fits all. Just adjust chunk loading and other settings.
Another thing that may help users (specially if you're coming from older versions of Minecraft and Optifine) is to delete the optionsof.txt in your .minecraft folder. This will reset Optifine settings and recreate that. Then you can go adjust options ONE BY ONE until you get the optimal performance for GFX power. Remember... ONE BY ONE adjust your settings if your new to this ****. If you adjust more than one setting at a time, you will have NO IDEA WHAT IS DROPPING YOUR FPS.
yes they are on funny connected texture but sit not working and the texture pack i was use has ctm png in it

You don't need MCpatcher when you have Optifine. Optifine enables HD texture packs on its own.
Woah, double ninja'd
Tested in Vanilla, no mem problems whatsoever. No other mods besides Optifine.
Ok thanks guys. I never had the ultra version of optifine before, only smooth, so I didnt know about MC Patcher not being needed
Thanks!

Haha Nevermind, he fixed it as I was replying
Care to elaborate on what settings you are using? IE Chunk Loading, Performance, Quality settings, Advanced GL ect.
You are using the latest version, and not the preview version from earlier correct?
