Amplifying British Business Legal & General has launched an ambitious fund aiming to inject £400m into UK businesses by the end of 2025. This initiative could mark a transformative shift in how pension investments drive economic growth. The Private Markets Access Fund, targeting £1bn in investments by next year, will allocate up to 40% for UK firms. This move is set to provide private market access to over five million members of defined-contribution schemes, opening up new growth opportunities. Legal & General's initiative aims to offer defined contribution scheme savers access to high-growth investments, provide innovative community funding, and stimulate the real economy. The fund represents a significant step in leveraging pension capital to fuel economic development while supporting people in building their retirement savings. Do you know where Europe’s premier hub for financial services investment is? The UK. Ever wondered why the UK continues to lead the way in attracting financial services investment in Europe? According to EY's latest research, the UK isn’t just holding its ground—it’s pulling ahead. With a 7% increase in foreign direct investment (FDI) projects, the UK now commands a 33% market share in Europe’s financial services sector. This growth significantly outpaces rivals like France and Germany. Despite challenging global conditions, the UK's financial services sector remains a beacon of stability and innovation. In 2023 alone, the UK attracted 108 financial services projects, up from 76 in 2022. Even more impressive, the UK saw 85 new projects, marking a 25% increase from the previous year. The broader European financial services market also saw growth, with total projects rising to 329 in 2023. However, the UK's surge is particularly noteworthy, given the overall decline in other professional sectors such as technology and digital services. To stay ahead, the UK must continue to innovate and attract top talent. How can we build on this momentum and ensure the UK remains the go-to destination for financial services investment?
